Since I'm advertising my services out here, I figured, I could introduce my current horses. I really love the pair of them, so I don't mind talking about them! Ha.
Meet Asanti's Golden Harlequin - Asanti around the barn and anywhere that's not in the show ring. He's my twelve year old reining horse. He's a buttermilk buckskin Quarter horse gelding. He's a joker. I swear to god, he'll play tag with you in the field, just tap you with his nose and run off. Not that it matters to anyone but the American Quarter Horse association, he's out of Golden Dreamer and Harlequin's Romance, both registered Quarter horses and yes, that's how poor Asanti ended up with such a weird name. He's my go to for new riders, very easy going and listens well and loves trails. Although he's a little unsure about the wildlife up here. Poor dear will just get over it. I did use him for barrels until I trained up Queenie.
Next meet
My grulla Kiger Mustang mare, Desert's Black Queen, or Queenie for short around the barn and everywhere not in the ring. She's six, and already my favorite partner in barrel racing. She was adopted in one of the round ups by the Bureau of Land Management. I was lucky enough to get her as a baby, just weaned from her mother, and was able to break and train her myself. Which is a huge asset. I broke her to ride both English and Western, although she is majority ridden in western. She loves barrels and she loves to run, so once she was able to be shown, I took her to barrels instead of Asanti, it was never his favorite anyways! I only use her for experienced students as she is a bit of a wild child.
So there you have it, my darlings! I'll be acquiring a couple more for lessons once I get the barn up.
