Lothiriel dreams of far away places. ([info]garland_maiden) wrote in [info]valarnet,

Hello! I'm Lothiriel and new to the area. I just sailed from New York, and I'm excited to be here for a while. I was super excited to drop off gifts for my cousins, Boromir and Faramir. Speaking of? Hi, you guys!

So what does everyone do around here, for fun? I always end up asking when I come into port for a while, since asking the locals is the way to find out where all the best places to eat or drink are, and where to go shopping. If I buy too much, I might sink my little boat! I better be careful that I don't go overboard. :)

Welcome to the area, Lothiriel!

I don't think I recall Boromir or Faramir mentioning any gifts recently, shame on them both! They didn't mention their delightful cousin was in town, either!

As for places to go, I feel you would be absolutely remiss if you didn't immediately get some coffee and pastries at Baxter's Bakery. It's a fixture on this network, and with good reason!

Thank you!

Oh they didn't, did they? Terrible boys! Truth told, the sort of gifts my aunt sends to anyone aren't really the sort that people go talking about in public. Teehee!

And Baxter's Bakery, you say? Time to load up on some carbs. Thank you for the tip! Do you have any recommendations on what to order?

Oooh, how intriguing! Why is that, I wonder?

I myself get the lattes, you definitely want anything with milk or cream in it, since it comes from a ranch that specializes in some kind of...

Well honestly I don't really know how they do it, but the milk sparkles, and it's completely natural.

You can't go wrong with the croissants, there! She bakes the kind with filling it, all different fillings. I like the cheese and cherry ones.

Because they were naughty gift baskets of dubious distinction. ;)

I love lattes. I'm like my cousin Faramir in that reguard. But sparkling milk? Is that anything like the golden opulence sundae at Serendipity 3? That sparkles too!

Cheese and cherries. I'm writing this down by the way, so I don't forget.

You seem to know your way around, so...shopping? Where should I go? I can't ask Boromir, because he'll roll his eyes at me trying on dresses. I don't want to trouble anyone either, so I've been riding around on my bicycle close by the marina, and not straying too far. YET.

Wow. That's a nice... boat.

I admit, I'm not much for boating, myself. But it takes a lot of guts to sail from one side of the country to the other. I guess you came through the Canal?

It's my baby! I don't have any actual babies, but I have a boat baby. That's all that matters. :)

I can only strive to be as gutsy as the rest of my family is. My father was a navy admiral and so he put me through the longest training course he could think of, including sailing in choppy seas and making me do everything on my own, before he would let me go. My aunt gave me soooo many pointers on how to deal with men people. And my brothers, all three of them, taught me salty sailor language on the sly. I'm strangely qualified.

I did! I hired on the temporary line men and did all of the paperwork by myself, paid all the fees, waited in line, and it was FANTASTIC!

You're a man type thing, as far as I can tell? Man type things like cars and motorcycles and boats and planes. If you don't like boats so much, what is it that you do like?

Oh please do? I've heard about Baxter's being really good, but I can't eat at the same place all the live long day. It would be terribly dull, after I've gone through the entire menu.

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mr. _____ (<----please fill this in)!

Baxter's uses some sort of mystery sparkling milk that I can confirm does in fact sparkle and is very tasty. How do you feel about taco trucks?

I am Mr. Baggins, although you can call me Frodo. Or Mr. Frodo, as some do. My uncle was the original Mr. Baggins and I am afraid I have only been slightly upgraded.

Hello, Mr. Frodo! It is a pleasure to meet you. Your name seems familiar somehow. I'm from the del Amroth family of New York, which I'm not sure if you've ever heard of. They did boring socialite things, and that is why I'm here on my little boat, since I absolutely do NOT want to be bored.

I see that's another vote for Baxter's. A definite 'Must Visit'. As for taco trucks? Hmm. It probably isn't the most glamorous thing ever to have tacos served from trucks, but I actually have had a few really good meals from places like that and I like exotic foods! I've eaten jumiles tacos in Mexico, which were actually very yummy.

And I would be wary, lest Boromir spies all of the places you are talking about going to, and holds some sort of vigil to ensure your safety.

I so thoroughly enjoyed it. Enough that I donated it in it's entirety to the campus LGBT organization. Do thank Aunt Ivriniel for having such fine taste in gift baskets.

You know how he gets. Lets not turn this into a contest.

It's only on if he starts it first.

I LOVE YOU, BOROMIR! IN A COUSINLY NON-KISSY FACE WAY.

I have. It's lovely. I think I'll stay. I want dreams and free swag too!

I met that guy who thinks boats are suspicious as you can see, above. He says he's on your staff. While I'm here, you should have me on your staff too, like how Faramir is volunteering.

Imagine the fundraising dinners you could be having right now!

Idea. We could invite aunt Ivri! How fun would that be?

Now I want to join too!

Wait...you mean you literally have a boat?
