Well it looks like I'm off to Kabul nope, not Kabul, but close enough I suppose on Thanksgiving. Well a few days before but I don't think I'll be back before it. Not that I had anywhere to be, of course, but I usually do a volunteer thing with some of the other Marines. Guess this year I'll be living it up in sand. It's almost depressing, really, I almost rather be here with all the weird, and not being shot at.

Canaan
I'll see if I can bring back some food goodies from Kabul while I'm there.

That's always a bitch.

At least they promised me a turkey. I'm betting it'll be a turkey sandwich, though.

We'll see. Their idea of a turkey sandwich can be a bit... lacking.

No, my bosses' idea is mainly crappy bread, crappy turkey and maybe some lettuce if they found it.

If it's any consolation, I don't think either Motoko or I are making a turkey this year, either.

Maybe we should do something when I get home, then?

I'm not American and neither is she, so I think doing something when you get home is close enough. Between the three of us, we should be able to figure out how to cook a feast. Or find a place to order one from.

I appreciate you trying to bring me home some goodies, though. It should be the perfect time of year to find some of the more traditional sweets.

I'm not much of one myself, to be honest. Although my parents like to remind me I'm first Generation American. So worse comes to worse, we'll just order ourselves a feast of our own desires and screw the traditional turkey.

That's what I was thinking. As much as I don't want to go, right now, I can at least get good snacks.

I'll look around for places we might want to order from while you're away. It's about time you met Motoko, too.

I admit it's a little bit of a shock hearing you say that. Are you still considering re-retiring?

Awesome - I look forward to my return then.

I was just looking forward to spending the holiday season and all of it's craziness tucked away at home hiding from the world.

I've dreamed too much to want to stay with them too much longer, I'm worried about what's happening - I see so much talk on the network after all - I do not know if it would get me kicked out. It would be nicer to retire and they wouldnt be able to take away my pay and such..

Peacefully at home is only as peaceful as Orange County allows it to be, but I understand how you feel. This is actually the first 'holiday season' I've had anyone at all to consider spending the time with. It's an interesting adjustment.

I understand. The dreams have actually affected me in some very real and unsettling ways, though luckily enough I've managed to keep myself employed. I also have nothing awaiting me for anyone to take away, however. You need to ensure your future self is taken care of above anything else.

True enough but I've grown to love this place. As strange as it can be. Ha! Maybe it's time I stop avoiding relationships, although I swear I've made progress. I have friends now, after all.

I am sure mine will only get worse as time goes on, I only wish I had a clue what was going to happen so I could prepare better for it. I do not think the Marines would be favorable to many changes, though.

I meant both Motoko and the friends I've made, like you! The dream me had fewer of them, but she cherished the ones she had and I think that carries over.

No, the Marines are very picky about things. If I was a member I'd already be discharged. I can definitely see why you'd want to make that choice for yourself instead of letting someone else make it for you.

Being at the mercy of the dreams is irritating. For a long while I was left on a cliffhanger. I think I'm actually done with them, now, but for a long time not knowing the story was difficult.

I'm glad that it has carried over.

I'm worried - my first dreams were of being an honest to god Valkyrie. Straight out of the myths. What's next? It makes me worry. And I know the Marines won't like it.

I suppose it's starting to get to the time where I need to look for a career outside of the Marines, because I can't see my Dreams stopping so soon.

That's... actually very interesting, though. A real Valkyrie? Your name kind of matches. I'm not sure what you can expect to discover after news like that.

You should start looking around, yes. The private sector, maybe, like we've discussed before. It isn't as exciting, but your life may stand to get exciting all on its own at this point.

It's what it appears - it's... interesting. The first two dreams were myth based. Like... literally the myths.

At least I have friends, then, to help make sure i don't lose my damn mind in this mess. I don't even know how I'll transition back to Civilian life.

I'll help you in any way I can. You'll get through this.

My own dreams mirrored my life in many ways, but they also took away my ability to see things as they are. All of my senses were affected, and it was a very hard transition.

I never mentioned it, but just having people to be normal around helped.

I hope so. I don't like the unknown. Not like this.

Oh? That sounds awful.

I feel that is the best thing for any affliction.

I don't think either of us does. I understand how you feel.

It was awful, but what I've ended up with is useful. Most of the time.

I tend to agree. And I'm glad that we met.

I wonder what useful thing I will get out of being a damn Valkyrie.

Me too. Good to have friends. Although you wouldn't think I believed in that from the way I live. Heh.

There's no way of knowing until you get there, unfortunately. My eyesight started changing after a few dreams and everything in the middle was bad. It's only at the end that I can see the value in it.

What I do know is that you're a tough lady and if anyone could make being a valkyrie useful it's likely to be you.
