I think I might be getting the hang of this internet thing! I've ordered books off Amazon now, though I haven't been able to purchase one of those electronic readers. I enjoy the smell and feel of books too much.

I've also looked at that netflicks business! Quite interesting, and so many films I haven't seen! I quite like the period dramas.

What's next? Tweeter?

It's actually called Netflix.

Oh! Is that one of those chat speak things, spelling it with an x?

Yeah, but it's said the same way.

I see! How very interesting. I'm learning new things each day, it's quite exciting!

What have you watched on Netflix?

I watched Downton Abbey, which was fantastic. I'm very much looking forward to the show continuing!

Mostly I watch period films and things. I'm a fan of classical literature, and it's so INTERESTING to see how people interpret it!

I'm mostly into all the horror movies on it.

Oh dear, all of that is a bit too scary for me, thank you very much. I'll stick to tamer things.

I know precisely what you mean about physical books versus ebooks. I just can't bring myself to join the digital age -- I know it would make my life easier, but there's something so satisfying about turning an actual page, and holding a new hardcover in my hands... I couldn't bear to part with that.

Exactly that. I run a used book shop, so I'm very much for the idea of keeping physical books around. While it might be more convenient to have them all in one little device, I can't quite bring myself to let go of the past and dive headfirst into the future like that.

Oh, you do? In which city, I would love to support a local store rather than a chain! I don't even mind lugging all my books around with me, even though some people do give me smug looks when they pull out their Kindles. My shoulders are stronger than theirs, though, so there.

There is something satisfying about browsing bookstores, that I do not think can be gleaned from electronic readers.

You should stop by my store, some time. I've all sorts of interesting books.

Just please don't buy anything.

I've had my own ebook reader for years, my mom used to say the same as you but soon realised it was much easier than packing up all her book collection. We moved a lot.

I'll tell you, it was definitely difficult to bring all my books with me from England, but so very worth it. I can't imagine being without them!

I guess I'm more of a tech guy than a book guy. It's cool that you got to bring it all with you though, and that it was worth the hassle.

Well I do run a book shop, and that might be difficult to do without books.

As long as it is worth the effort in the end that's the most important thing I guess

Some call me old fashioned, particularly my husband, but it's something I've always enjoyed and don't plan on changing any time soon!

I don't mind being called old fashioned as long as it means I get to keep my books :D

Exactly that! Exactly that indeed.

People ask me how I can run a book store when there are ereaders that make things easier, but I simply say there are always people who will enjoy books more.

And I hope it always stays that way. I much prefer seeing my books in print than on an e-reader.
