Hello Valarnet.

Last night I learned something about a friend that I didn't know before. Namely that his home situation is...a lot worse than he let on. When you make a noise to shock your friend out of a fugue state, he shouldn't snap back to reality, glance at you with his eyes darting everywhere and apologizing for "whatever I did this time, Dad, I won't do it again, I'm sorry, seriously" while he cowers in front of you, when he's already in the damn hospital for stitches.

I...don't know what to do about that. We've all been keeping an eye on him today, alternating with his boyfriend but...I'm scared for him, pissed at his parents, AND scared for Gavroche, who's in in a coma. There are some days that life just doesn't pay, I fucking swear.

Gav is in a coma? Is he gonna be alright? What happened?

We were at the fireworks display and he...

In the dreams that he has, he dies from being shot. He got the wound last night from what they could tell and I was able, as an outsider to get. His sisters are with him right now and he hasn't woken up yet but he IS alive. We're all hoping he's all right.

...Is there anything I could pass along to him, maybe? Or I could see about them letting you come see him.

I wasn't sure who you were talking about at first, but it's Courf isn't it? What happened?

We were at the fireworks with some friends and one of them...he is killed by being shot in his dreams, apparently. His wounds appeared WITH the fireworks. Courf witnessed said death in his dream. It...sent him back into the mental 1830's thing Enjolras has been doing.

We were trying to get him back out of it before they stitched his lip up. He bit through it while we got Gavroche there. I decided shocking him would be the best idea. Turns out it wasn't, and I learned something I'm maybe not supposed to know about Courf. I'm glad he told them to fuck off but I already wanted to hit something so...

Oh my god. Is your other friend okay? Does Courf still think it's the 1830s? You guys seriously have the worst kind of dreams. I hate it.

Gav's...still in a coma. Stable but in a coma. They're doing what they can. Courf's...going back and forth. Stress is seeming to make him worse.

Tell Courf I was asking about him and he needs to get better so that we can go to the hookah bar again. I know it sounds kind of lame, but maybe hearing something like that might help keep him here. I wish I could help more. How's Jehan handling it?

Jehan's been quite busy with a thing, but he and Courf are together at night most of the time now. There's no way we're letting him go anywhere his biggest source of security isn't. And Jehan keeps his levels of calm enough that he knows it's not the 1830's. I guess...the event that prompted it would send anyone who saw it back there. SO glad I was dead before it happened.

I'm a friend of his. At least I'd like to think so. Could you tell me where he is? And is he okay right now, for the most part?

I'm in San Francisco right now, but that kid matters to me. Hell, I'd adopt him if I thought he'd ever let me.

Enjolras and I've got him situated and he's mostly at his in-laws' right now. I'm not sure what his room-mate's doing, so better he's where extended family can keep an eye on him when we're not around. He IS, however, adjusting better to this century than I could have hoped, so there's that.

Adjusting to this century? I didn't know it got that bad.

I'm glad he's okay for the most part. Just ... I hope your friend is okay, but forgive me if I worry about Andre a little more. Will he remember me if I try to text him? If not I'll just, I don't know, pray for him and leave it at that.

Yeah, it was worse with Enjolras. We had to re-teach him how to use a computer and how to type and where he was when it was him. Courfeyrac realizes he's in the wrong century but can accept it and handle technology. For the most part.

I know you people are all about being anti-establishment or anti-church or whatever, but Courfeyrac ought to understand if he knows I'm praying for him. Would you tell him?

I would say whatever we're anti depends on each of us, but I know that'd still give me a lot of comfort and it's been like...I think I was in high school during my last confession, maybe? I'll be sure to pass it on. I...would you pray for our other friend too? He's just seventeen and he really means a lot to Courf.

Thank you. Very much. I'm Bahorel. Courf...I think that'll help a lot. He's much more in tune with his faith than I am, if the scapular he was wearing says anything so...

It's appreciated.

A scapular? Really? Even I didn't know that; the boy doesn't screw around. We met over the network; we're both kind of recovering Catholics.

I owe God a little time; just because the church is fucked up doesn't mean God is.

I'm a semi-Catholic these days I guess. Don't agree with the politics or a lot of policies so I've stayed away. And yeah, Courf's...very much like that. And God? Definitely not. I think the way that people perceive God is what gets us all messed up sometimes.

I do too. Mostly them. I've had the dreams and I know I die there but..I feel differently about it I guess, like it was bound to happen one of these days. Mostly, I regret not being able to protect them at the end.

I don't know how much American tv you watch but if you've seen Pretty Little Things with Marie Antoinette....

It's kind of Marie Louise.

Oh Jesus. Sports was never a big thing for me, thank god. Well, okay, sports that aren't Hockey were never a big thing for me. Unless I'm playing them. That said. Sympathies. But Marie Louise is very ladylike, sweet, and shy and really smart. It means my usual approach is probably not the way to work it. I have to be all gentlemanly and such.

For you, wooing works by just being honest and polite at the same time. So instead of "hey baby, let's fuck" try "hey baby, you've got lovely hair and I rather like your personality and value your opinions".
