Will had managed to get an appointment time at an hour where the dogs would be asleep, and yet most people would be awake. Dr. Lecter had been obliging about his preferences - quiet, and no one else around. No medical students, no hoopla. Just a man coming to discuss bad dreams. Relatively dull, by most standards.
He'd had nightmares and night terrors for his entire life on and off. They'd begun when he was a child, but they'd never stopped. For most people, the terrors leveled off, at least from what he'd read. And yet every so often, he'd wake in pools of sweat, in fear and feel a sense of drowning.
The most recent one had been bad enough to make him seek yet another therapist. He'd had a few, with all of them to a man - and woman - being uniformly unhelpful. None of this was his mother's fault. It wasn't the fault of being on the autistic spectrum. It wasn't any kind of diet problem, unless one counted a lack thereof as an issue.
He went into the building, taking the stairs up to the office door. Quietly, he opened it. Not seeing a secretary, he simply seated himself in one of the (possibly-deliberately?) uncomfortable chairs and waited.
