That was a fair point, and a surprisingly intelligent question from a layman. Will nodded. "When I say they forget, I mean they forget any negativity. They remember not to jump on the furniture, but if I raised my voice too high for their liking, they won't hold it against me over time." He couldn't entirely hide the sardonic smile when Dr. Lecter mentioned the owners, though. "Owners, of course, accuse me of mistreating their beloved pets, but most see over time that firmness doesn't equal cruelty. I would never harm an animal." Ever. The idea was nauseating.
He sat back, crossing his leg over the other, looking across at Dr. Lecter. "I will say, it's a surprisingly pleasant line of work, even with the human interaction."
