Who: Agent Coulson and Agent Hill.
What: Donuts and dream talk.
Where: A bakery somewhere in Orange County.
When: Saturday afternoon, after this.
Rating: PG. They're professionals, people.
Status: In progress.
It was like clockwork. Whenever something was bothering Hill, her sweet tooth went insane. It wasn't a frequent occurrence but it happened often enough that she was notorious around the office for keeping her desk well stocked with hard candies and mints, just in case. Usually it was case-related, like clues that didn't add up or reaching a dead end; rarely did she let personal matters bug her enough to warrant the Sweet Tooth of Worry.
This, though, was different. That weird badge had appeared on her desk this morning and it was throwing her off her game. The thing seemed authentic (or as authentic as a division that didn't exist could be) right down to her signature on the back, and the fact that Coulson had received one as well did little to ease her mind. And if anyone else had told her they'd seen it in a dream? She'd have laughed them out of the state of California. Her partner was different– Hill trusted him with her life, and he wasn't the type to joke about things like this.
Any other day, donuts with Coulson would have been an implied bribe. Not today. Today was a day when she actually did want donuts. More specifically, she wanted to devour the chocolate-frosted, rainbow-sprinkled confection she was eyeing in the case of a nearby bakery, but Hill was polite enough to wait for her friend. At least for ten minutes. After that, all bets were off.
