Though Tara had been forced back inside when trying to leave for work that morning, she wasn’t about to let that get in her way when there was adventure to be had! Though some might have thought her a bit odd for adventuring with someone she barely knew (and she didn’t even know his name!), Tara wasn’t going in completely blind. After all, she’d grown up on military bases. She knew a thing or two about people, and self-defense (if it came down to that!). And if she could remember more of her past with the Doctor, she’d know it was very fitting for them to rush off into adventure with little knowledge of what was coming next.
Sneaking out of her house felt like Tara was 16 in Germany again with John Simm, sneaking out for a snog while her parents were sleeping and the guard shift was changing. She felt the rush of excitement heat up in her stomach as she peeked out her windows to check that the coast was clear. She had happened upon the patrols much earlier, which led her to believe they were making their way about the city. She’d have time. She sent a quick note to her new friend to be ready for her arrival.
With a big grin (she could not contain her excitement!), Tara grabbed her keys, went out her front door (locking it on the way) and ran to her car. She opened the door of her little blue Toyota hybrid quietly, hopped in and then ducked down. After a moment’s pause, she decided nobody had seen her, so she started the car (apart from the wheezing it had been experiencing the past few months, it was virtually silent), and backed out of her driveway.
She drove quickly to the hotel John had told her, but was surprised that she wasn’t stopped on the road. There were others driving, sure, but not many. A lot of people were asked to stay in their homes, she supposed. Just like she was. But Tara, of course, had only taken it as a suggestion. There was adventure to be had!
Parking at the hotel, Tara shut off her car (with that damn wheezing noise!) and walked into the hotel. Looking around the lobby, she spotted her adventure-partner and made her way over to him.
“I felt like a secret agent, making my way here,” she said in way of greeting, smiling widely. Her slight British accent peeked through the American, he would notice. “I’m Tara, by the way. Tara Smith.”
