The smell of the ocean was definitely a distraction. Rosalind had hoped to get some work done today, a few brief outlines for the assignments she had been given, but so far nothing had come to her. Her notepad was empty except for the one lone asterisk on the page that was to be the first idea. It was odd for her to not be working, but she had moved to the OC for a change of pace, hadn't she? To actually have a life that didn't revolve around her work was a goal she had, though she was beginning to realize that was a near impossibility.
She sighed, and took a sip of her coffee that was still warm to the touch. Rosalind hadn't expected the café to be so busy today, and she was lucky that she was able to find the seat that she had. It was a table for two that she only felt slightly guilty about taking. Besides, it gave her the perfect view of the ocean, and the waves that lapped upon the beach. She thought that maybe she ought to go for a swim - there were plenty of shops that sold bathing suits, and she could buy one if she really wanted to. Except she didn't, not yet anyway. She really had to get some work done before went home to face the mountains of unopened boxes. The moving company finally arrived with her things, and they had given her a hefty discount as well. It wouldn't stop her from trying to put them out of business, though.
Rosalind called the waitress over, and asked for another cup of coffee (with cream) before she picked up her pen again. She tapped it lightly against the paper and began to write. Even if it was gibberish at least she was doing something, and she could sort it out later if she needed to.
