Who: Clint Barton & Kate Bishop
When: Mid-week
Where: Clint's apartment.
What: Kate comes over with beer (not lite) and there's pizza and Netflix; Clint even unpacked a little. Sort of.
Warnings: Possible language and awkward people.
Status: Complete.

Clint's place wasn't exactly a dump. It was sparse, probably needed a little attending to, more than just a coat of paint and a shove of random stuff into the corner, but Clint wasn't exactly too bothered about that stuff.

It was homey and livable and that was all that mattered; Lucky had space to sprawl, there was a decent sized gap between the sofa, the coffee table and the tv to allow for optimal lounging and feet on table, so Clint was happy. He'd at least cleared the weeks worth of coffee mugs from the sink when Kate text to invite herself over with beer for some Netflix and pizza and really, Clint didn't mind.

He wasn't overly social right then, between the relocation and figuring out what to do with himself, he'd sort of neglected to actually go out and do anything. Kate was fairly easy company. She had a goofy quality that helped Clint relax a little, wasn't a complete chatterbox and was fun to talk to. The gentle and light flirting in between wasn't bad either.

So Netflix was gearing out suggestions on stuff to watch and Clint had the local pizzeria's number tacked to the wall by the phone and Lucky was fed, watered and walked and ready to curl up and sleep in about an hours time unless he got some TLC between now and then. Which pretty much meant he was set, right?

"I said we went skinny dipping, not that we burned our clothes. I managed to get... well partially dressed." Clint just gave Kate a slight nudge, still smirking at her because it wasn't really a big deal anyway. He wasn't exactly body conscious and didn't really care who thought what.

"I'm shooting early-to-mid twenties and leaning towards the earlies." She brought the beer so he was sure she was over 21, but by how much he wasn't entirely sure.

Really pretty images, those. She grinned softly at that.

"You're a pretty good shot, Barton," Kate admitted with a smirk. "I'll be twenty-five in December." She leaned back against the sofa, her arm brushing against his again. "...that makes you, what, four times my age?" It was a tease. Hopefully it didn't sting too much.

"Oh ouch, cruel." Clint fell right in the middle when it came to soldiers; middle ground was kind of best to aim for a lot of the time too. "I am, in fact, ten years your senior. Oddly enough, also December." Birthdays weren't too big a deal though since he'd been overseas for a lot of them now.

"Me an' Lucky are just a tired pair of old timers, eh Luck?" The dog barely really gave Clint a glance, huffing slightly as Clint ruffled the dog's fur around his head and ears. "Although I'm in exceptionally good condition for a retiree."

"Maybe we'll have a joint birthday party together this year!" She said, putting on the tone and cadence of a valley girl. It was a total joke, and probably a stupid one. But she could blame it on the beers. ...right?

Ten years. That wasn't that big of a deal. Was it? Kate didn't care--it meant wisdom. Experience. Maturity. Total hotness. (Though, that was probably just Clint.) "I'll say you are." The Flirt.

"Sure, we can totally do that, provided no one expects me to show up." Parties + Clint = disaster. And he was absolutely sure that was something that just happened to him. "I've been to three parties in my life time, and they did not turn out well." Possibly his company, possibly his alcohol intake, possibly just his curse to bear.

"See, now you're just being cute, girlie." Although the smirk was there, playful really. Because he didn't mind much. Ten years wasn't that big of a deal, least of all in this day and age. "I'm the only one in the retirement home that can still touch his toes."

"Actually, I like your idea better." Kate mock-debated the idea for a moment, one fingertip against her chin. "Throw a party, but don't go. Someone else can do the set-up and clean-up, and we just leave a table open with a sign that says 'leave gifts here.' Best idea ever. All the birthday presents, none of the fuss."

Kate laughed. "Hey, I'm not being cute. I am cute, damn it."

"So much less fuss." No small talk, to awkward conversations, no embarrassing after stories. Much better. "There's a hell of a lot to be said for being anti-social." Not that Clint was ridiculous levels of it, just large scale groups weren't exactly comfortable anymore.

"Oh, I'm so sorry," Clint just grinned, holding his hands up in a 'don't shoot' pose, "you're the cutest, my bad, that's all my bad." She was just as ridiculous though.

"It works well until you get bored or lonely. Then you have Kate over for drinks. That sounds like the perfect plan." She lifted her empty beer bottle as if in a toast then remembered it was empty. She set it back down again. Should she have one more or sober up and drive home?

Probably the latter. The movie was over, anyway.

"I am the cutest. Glad you got there even if it took you a while." It was adorable that he was willing to play along. Dang. He was just perfect. Even if he was really old.

"I should probably head home."

"I'm old, I'm slow." Not true, but hey, the comfortable teasing was far too much to pass up really. It definitely seemed to be moving towards flirtatious friends than just a transaction of lessons at the range too.

Since neither of them had really bothered about the movie, the beers were good and the pizza was nearly finished (had Lucky eaten the most again?) he was a little surprised at just how late it actually was.

"You need a cab? You be okay driving?"

"Slow can be good. Really good." Kate flirted. Slow wasn't bad, Clint. Slow was good. She winked.

"I'll be okay to drive." Kate said, and gave him a smile. She wriggled out from underneath Lucky's rear end and then picked up the empty bottles and empty pizza box to clean up a bit before she headed out.

"But I'll see you Thursday?"

Giving Lucky a small push, getting the big lug back onto the ground to wander after Kate like a shadow, Clint switched off the rolling credits of a movie he was not going to rewatch at any time.

Following after Kate, almost tripping over Lucky, Clint just gave a nod as he leant against the door frame, letting Kate tuck the boxes and bottles away in the trash. "Yep, regular time." Not like he was changing anything there.

"You wanna take the other pack home? It is your beer."

Kate finished cleaning up, then dusted her hands off as she moved to meet him at the door. Hands slipped into her back pockets, and a grin spread across her lips.

"Save it for next time." There was gonna be a next time, right? She raised an eyebrow. "Maybe I'll bring a deck of cards and we can play a game. More entertaining than a movie."

"Definitely more entertaining than a movie." Clint was fine with next time, and if it was a little more premeditated, with an actual idea of what to do, that was all good too. Movies, not entirely sold on them, cards they could work with.

"Get a cab next time, I'll pay the fare, we can actually have more than a few beers too." Not that there was anything wrong with just a few beers, but something a little better wouldn't go amiss. "Lucky, stop trying leave, sit your butt down and say goodbye." Since the goofball was probably going to sit there and whine until he got some attention too.

"Drive safe and I'll see you on Thursday, yeah."

"It's a plan, then." Kate nodded once. She'd get a cab next time. Or crash on the couch. Or... y'know. Whatever.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Bub," she bent down to give Lucky some love before heading out. Scratching of the ears and letting the pup lick her face. "I should have said goodbye to you, too."

Then she stood back up to meet Clint's eye again, wiping her face on her sleeve. "See you Thursday." She stepped up, trailed her hand down his arm, then slipped past him and let herself out the front door.
