Who: Mercy Thompson & Tink
When: August 21st
Where: Tink's Garage
What: Mercy has a car
Rating: TBD
Status: In progress

Mercy was broken. Which was to say rather grumpy. She had a boot on, though, and could walk on it, sorta (she hadn't been listening, though, and was walking on it), but she had a backlog of cars. Which was to say she was crazy busy, but she called her usual paint place to paint her current project car and they weren't available for quite a bit. Which was frustrating because Mercy had a buyer, it just needed to be painted. She'd pursued the network and saw a comment from Tink to another network user about painting cars. So she hopped in the project car which was road worthy and plated, and headed over.

She figured, it couldn't hurt right? She hopped out of the car and hopped into the front room, she leaned on the counter and looked around for anyone to talk to. It was comical, really, because she had to hop in. Driving had made her foot hurt like crazy and all she wanted was to get rid of it. Why couldn't she have been a werewolf like her friends in her dreams? Then she could have healed this crap with a few steaks and a nap. Not wait until the doctor's said she was fine. "Hello?" she'd call out after a second.

The door to the office had been propped open, due to the heat. The AC was on the fritz, and Tink didn't want to swealter in that office. She was actually under the desk when the other woman came in, and since the door was propped open there was no ringing to alert her to the presence of another body. The reason she was under the desk was simple. There was something wrong with the computer, and she was checking things out. The Old Man had unplugged the printer, somehow, and Tink was trying to plug the thing in.

At the sound of the voice, she jumped up. Unfortunately, her head collided with the underside of the desk, and she gave a yelp.

"Oh I'm sorry!" she'd call in the direction of the desk. "You okay?" she'd ask as she leaned back a bit. "I didn't mean to scare you!" she felt bad. She hadn't been trying to be quiet, but if you were under a desk, well sounds got muffled.

There may or may not have been a couple of choice curse words that floated out from under the desk. Finally, Tink emerged, rubbing a spot on her head. Her hair was a mess--but what else was new? "It's okay." She said. Tink was in her coveralls, blonde hair in a sloppy bun that was now askew. "Really... I should have been paying better attention."

She broke into a forced smile. "How can I help you?"

"Power words, trust me I get them." she laughed softly. "Well I'm Mercedes, I own the garage on the other side of town. But I don't do painting, I just don't have space. On the side I do project cars, rebuilds and so on. I have a painter who usually does my cars but... well they're busy and took forever on my last one." she made a face of displeasure.

"So I read on the the Network thing that you had the ability to do paint so I popped by to see if that was true and if you were game for it." she grinned a bit, the most words out of her mouth in months. "And if it works out, maybe I'll switch my go-to for this, I've already got a buyer for this one too."

"Hi, Mercedes," Tink said, reaching forward a hand to shake the other woman's. Mercedes was a fantastic name for someone who worked on cars, she thought. And then she listened. Her eyes lit up a bit when Mercedes mentioned that she was looking for someone to do paint.

"Oh! Oh oh!" Tink said, waving her hands in the air in excitement. "I can do that! I have this thing... I invented this machine that can paint a car in a matter of minutes. I used a rake and these tubes, and..." Tink gave a little laugh. "You have to see it!" She said, and then rushed out of the office into the garage, motioning for Mercedes to follow her.

She'd shake hers then smiled. It was an even better name when you were a girl who loved working on Volkswagens. Yep. Mercedes the VW mechanic (okay she liked cars in general). She laughed a bit at how Tink's eyes lit up and shook her head. It was nice eto see someone that excited.

Mercedes would hop after her. "Alright lemme see it. Painting was never my forte, I'm afraid." she smiled a bit as she followed her. "Guess I came to the right person then huh?"

Tink led the way through the garage into the back where the machine was. It looked like it was put together with rubber tubes and duct tape. There was a machine--looked like a jerry-rigged shop vacuum--attached to the end. Tink motioned proudly. "Well... it doesn't look like much, but I can paint your car in a matter of minutes." She beamed. "Do you want to bring the car in here and see her in action? What color are we going for?"

Mercy looked around and grinned. First as a military girl then a mechanic, she knew that there was genius in the use of duct tape. "Duct tape is the father of ingenuity, though!" She leaned on a wall, carefully. "Sure, I'd love to bring her in. Customer is unhappily boring but they want a nice red" she laughed

Tink laughed. "It sure is!" Then she nodded, and moved over to the machine. "All right, red I can do. Did you bring the car with you today? I can do it now. It'll take a few hours to dry, but it'll be done in minutes."

She was able to distract herself quite easly with the machine, getting things set and ready for the painting procedure.

She smiled at the woman. "I did in fact, I drove it over so you could look at it if you wanted." she smiled and leaned on the wall. Fingers curled against the door frame to hold herself up. Foot throbbing angrily.

"You want me to bring her around?" she'd ask, head tilting.

"Yeah, definitely." Tink said, giving her a bright smile. "Bring her on around, and I'll set up the machine."

A few minutes later the car was parked in the right place, the machine was humming, and Tink was busily coating the car in an even layer of thick paint.

Mercy would watch in rapt fascination. "Man this is awesome. I'm defiantly using you for paint work. Project cars are my favorite things, so I tend to get a bunch. I have a great person to redo all the fabric stuff, and now the best painter. This is awesome."

She was happy. She liked when things worked well.
