Who: James Hook and whomever
What: Open bar post
When: July 19
Where: A bar
Rating: Starting low, will change if needed
Status: In progress

It's been a long week, but it's Saturday now, and James has decided it's time to relax a bit. Maybe he'll take the boat out tomorrow, but right now he feels a little more social. Perhaps he'll meet some new friends.

So he settles in at the bar and orders a glass of red wine to start the night with. Hopefully someone will come by who's interesting enough to hold a conversation with.

One thing could be said for the network. People could be recognized and connections feasibly made. They were living in a world of technology and it seemed those on the network had more in common in their own way in terms of the dreams. Even so, it was something. It was the world they were living in, might as well make use of it. That was the way the theory went anyway.

"That's me."

Smirking, Grantaire raised his glass in greeting about being the friend from the message boards.

"Likewise. I'm quite well. Enjoying a drink and watching the people."

That was the way of it. No need to divulge part of his reasoning to get out for the night. People watching, drinks, that was all that was needed. It was easier to focus on that around people as well.

"How about yourself?"

"About the same, really. After all, one must take a break from being a pirate some time, mustn't one?"

He sets his drink down in order to offer his hand with a rakish sort of smile. "James Hook. Pleasure to meet you in person."

"How is the pirating life going for you?"

Really it was amusing to him. That entire conversation had been, really. Small children had an amazing perceptiveness to them. His niece was very perceptive, even just on the phone or over Skype when he would call his sister to make sure everything was okay. His father may have disowned him and demanded that he cut off ties with his sister, but Margot had always had something else up her sleeves. She just couldn't help him but they could still talk. Perhaps it was through his niece that he had an affinity for children and took what they said relatively seriously. Who knew.

Still. The kid had been perceptive. If you have a boat, and you have a hook hand, then clearly you are a pirate. Simple math.

"Grantaire. Meeting in person is always so much more than just on the network." Offered hand taken and given a firm shake, Grantaire returned to his whiskey.
