Setting Sail - The Endless Horizon and the Other Vanity
Who: Ageless Bill Turner, Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Elizabeth Turner, Anne Bonney, Petit LeBeau, The Flying Dutchman, Miniver Cheevy, Triesta Darkholme-Harkness, Glyndaa Marie Wartooth, Jack the Monkey and a LOAD of NPCs

When: May 1st, Docks in southern Florida, 'round 11:30 AM and proceeding into the late afternoon.

What: THIS. IS. ORIENTATION!!!

Warnings: They're pirates. What do you think?

Bill looked at the men and women who were going to set sail aboard the two ships in the harbor that afternoon as they arrived, checking their names down in a little book he had in his hand with a fountain pen. His major concern was that they all show up on time. Not that they gave short notice as to when they'd be setting off or anything.

Once all the names were ticked off, he pulled out a bullhorn and jumped up on a post and stood above them. "All crew of the Endless Horizon proceed to the right side of the dock. All crew of the Other Vanity, proceed to the left. Thank y'kindly." His voice was bold and commanded attention even without the bullhorn, but it wasn't as if two crews worth of people were milling about silently - especially considering the kind of people they seemed to attract.
After everyone shuffled into place, he jumped down from the post and tossed the bullhorn aside, his own voice loud enough for both lines to hear him from front to back as he spoke. His voice was loud enough to project, but still sound like he wasn't shouting. Stage trick he'd picked up.

"Right! So! Th'two ships're settin' sail in about an hour an' a half and th'whole lot've you're going t'listen up. This is not a game. This is no fanciful quest that we're embarking upon! This is a solemn duty as pirates - to look after what's rightfully ours, and to take it back if it's been claimed by another. And Shipwreck Island is our island. It's our Kingdom. And as far as I see it, we've only had ONE King. If we have any disputes between higher up members of th'crew, we'll turn to her for a level perspective on things!"
He turned to Elizabeth and gave her hand a shake, his voice dipping to a normal tone as he spoke, "Liz, good to have you aboard th'Horizon with us, luv." After giving her a kiss on the cheek and patting Will on the shoulder, he continued.
"There will be things out there that some of you are not prepared for. Luckily we are. Two of our crew, Triesta and Petit are able to take you to land if you've got to go cry home to mommy about gettin' chapped cheeks your first week out there." He nodded to Petit and Tree, "These ladies will be able to help you keep in contact with your loved ones on land, should you need it."
He turned to Anne's crew, which was primarily the landlubbers of the bunch, and he crossed his arms. "There are NO modern conveniences aboard either ship, save for the loo. We do not have TVs, batteries, generators, refrigerators, telephones... wait no, we've got two satellite phones, strike that last one... And certainly no computers with a wi-fi connection out in th'middle of th'ocean. We make our own fun when we make our fun at all. This is work, and you will be compensated as such. You will be working intense labor positions, ranging from eight to twelve hours a day. You will be given breaks when breaks are needed, three square meals a day, clean bunks, fresh water, and good company. You will be paid at the end of your journey with what would amount to sixteen and a quarter dollars an hour. Some of you may consider this bilking you out of your hard work, but trust me, you'll be wanting that money come th'end of th'journey."
Bill turned to the Dutchman and gave her a bow of this head, smiling sweetly. He then continued. "So, that should just about settle all remaining questions. Anyone have anything left t'ask, wait 'till th'Captains are done speaking on behalf of their ships. I thank you all for coming."

With that, Bill dropped into line beside his son and Liz and crossed his arms, "I love doin' that." He confided, letting the Captains have their say.

Jack grinned, browarching at Anne before nodding once and moving to where he could be seen and heard, "Right, that was Bill, Ageless Bill Turner, first mate've my ship, th'lovely Endless Horizon over here. He's about covered anythin' important, aside from one small thing. Some've you may've heard that Bill and I aren't exactly human, that we're a good sight more bloodthirsty than th'usual brand of pirates."

He shrugged then, the movement causing a tangle of dreads to slip back behind his shoulder with a clatter of beads, "And s'true. We're vampires, if that bothers anyone y'best leave now, we won't think less've you for it. That said, y'really have nothin' to fear from us, we've made provisions for ourselves and we never bite without askin' first. S'a code we keep to."

His smile spread, one brow arching, just for a moment, "S'another code we keep to as well. The Code, y've all heard of it at least I'm sure, sadly we haven't got th'Master Codekeeper here, but Bill has a workin' knowledge of th'rules and articles. On the very unlikely chance that there'll be anything our King can't settle on her own we'll refer back t'Bill." There was an unspoken warning there that there had damn well better not be anything that Elizabeth couldn't settle.

Another shrug, "And I've said my peace, welcome aboard!"

Will grinned and slapped Jack on the shoulders, as he walked past to gather his things before getting on the ship. "It still rankles you that you threw your lot in to vote her King doesn't it?" he asked, still grinning like an idiot. It was a glorious thing, having your wife be the Pirate King. It was even more advantageous when you were the one sleeping with said Pirate King.

"You and Father need anything at all, you let us know," he said sincerely. "I'm sure Elizabeth and I can help out keeping her on course if need be. We do have some experience in that area. I assume there are times of the day that you and he cannot be above decks?"

He laughed once at the first, shaking his head, "Not hardly." A shrug, "Now, I'm not 'bout to say it's the best decision I've ever made, but s'far from th'worst. Can count on one hand th'ones I've made that were better, actually. Need t'borrow someone else's t'count th'ones that're worse."

He shrugged at the second, "Don't tend t'be out at first light or at noon, but s'more a personal pref'rence than any sort've necessity."

Anne smiled, taking Jack's place at the head of the lines, "Alright, so that's everything besides a few common-sense sort of things that most sailors already know and that most of you lot probably won't."

She worked on twisting her hair up and tying it back as she spoke, "First off: If you're prone to a fear of heights, stay the hell out of the rigging and away from the bow. When the ship starts rocking, instinct is going to be to lean away from the movement, that'll just make you seasick, easiest way to get your sea legs is to lean with the movement, look ahead and watch the horizon, see which way it's tilting and adjust so that it stays level. There's a reason people who've been at sea take a while to get used to being on solid ground again. That's it."

She nodded once more, "Petit is acting first mate aboard my ship, she's younger than a good few of you, but she's got more experience, and she's been on my crew before, she knows how these things work. You'll heed her the same as you'd heed me." She grinned then, nodding one last time, "Welcome aboard, let's get this show on the road."

Triesta was more than excited to be sailing with the infamous Anne Bonney. Bill had told her that she was more than welcome to hop from ship to ship when her duties with the Other Vanity were taken care of for the day. Her shapeshifting abilities would allow her that, since she could teleport thanks to the Hiro Nakamura she'd met some time ago. She all but bounced up to Captain Bonney with a dumb grin plastered to her face.

"Triesta Darkholme-Harkness, reporting for duty Captain!" she fairly shouted.

Not nearly as exuberant as Triesta, the tall, thin, dark haired woman came up next, "My name's Glyndaa Wartooth, it's an honor, Captain Bonney." she bowed slightly before picking up her large duffel and guitar case, and started aboard.

She looked about as excited about this as she would about a double cheeseburger -- Not at ALL. But in fact, she was very happy to be on this venture. It just didn't show.

"Very same. Weird you know that..." Glyndaa got a suspicious look before she gave a nod, "Aye, Captain." And with that, she wandered to go stick her luggage down in the sleeping quarters. She was happy to be on a ship once more and swayed easily with the easy waves, immediately back to her sea legs as she stepped onto the deck once more.

Her eyes wandered over the rigging, tutting at it and shaking her head with her arms crossed over her chest. "Someone is sloppy with their tying. Reknotting all those so they're secure..." She huffed a sigh.

Anne smiled, having sidled up beside the other woman, "Poor girl used to be just for show, that's why some of the knots aren't up to par. If you want to be the riggingmaster, I'll make sure it gets noted."

She smiled again, brow arching, "And it isn't that weird that I know where you're from. Wartooth isn't that common a name, and I kind of follow musical families. Was a professional groupie, oh, probably a good decade or two before you were born."

"Please allow me that." Glyndaa said with a shake of her head, pinching the bridge of her nose. "It's just all wrong."

Then, "Oh, really? Because really, if you want to meet him, he's here right now at the peak of his popularity. Him, the drummer, and the vocalist are all here. Haven't seen Uncle Skwisgaar or Murderface. They've got the little Pickles filling in for Toki, Toki filling in for Skwisgaar, and some dildos guy playing the bass. I guess they figure anyone's better than nobody."

She paused, "Hey, is smoking allowed? I've been on some vessels where they freak out just because I lit up a fag."

	Anne actually grinned at that, "You're on, I'll wrangle you a rigging crew together before we get too far out." A shrug, "And as long as the smoking won't hinder your work, go right ahead, anybody has a problem with it, send 'em my way." The smile went altogether too wicked, "And I've met him. Glyndaa managed to verbally elipse.

"I'm not sure I follow."

Nope, wrong dimension. But despite that, she was amused, even enough so where it showed on her face. "You'll have to tell me the story one day."

And she took that time to light up and go start in on the rigging first thing. Because there was no time like the present. "I'll come down when you need me."

"Hi Anne!" the old stoner beams delightedly. "Oh, um... Captain!" He salutes a bit tiltedly -- of COURSE he's been drinking today. He's got Stuff in his hair since last Anne saw him -- braided and beaded, not all of it, but enough to keep the rest of the loose curls from blowing too helter-skelter or getting caught in the rigging.

If she's paying attention, she might glimpse a flicker of a little Shadow lurking about, too.
