Who: Stoney and Ceevee
Where: McGee's Miscellany
What: Shopping and uh art

The walk through the streets of London had been pleasant and McGee's Miscellany was quite easy to find. Stoney spent a few minutes perusing the wares displayed in the window as he finished up his coffee and deposited the cup in the trash. He held the door for a large woman and followed her into the shop.

"Right, macaroni art. That'll be right over here." She ducked under the counter flap, one of the benefits of being short as far as she was concerned, "And violins do the same thing guitars and pianos do, with the sparkles. String instruments make for spangle, and hummingbirds don't have any effect at all as far as I've noticed."

She grinned, "And I like music, even though it makes things go spangly or halo-y or whatever, music's in my bones, it would be sad if I didn't like it. And I like the rain, it just makes going places difficult."

He grinned as she passed under his arm. "Who wouldn't like sparkly special effects?" He looked over the various macaroni and other homey art pieces. "Speaking of music, Charlie has dotted the t's and crossed the i's to get MurderTooth Records started. I was wondering if you were interested in having an hand in it?"

"That's how I look at it!" She replied cheerfully, pointing out a bookshelf that was where most of the macaroni and button art was kept, "And that all depends, what kind of hand?"

"I'm not sure, but it seems like you should have some input. What would you like to do? I was going to talk to Teja about being the manager, since he's got the degree and everything. I really don't know a lot outside of the making and producing music end of things. I'm not a bad hand with a mixing board."

She scratched the back of her neck, squinting ceilingward for a moment, "I could, uh, draw you guys some logos or album slash poster art? I'm good at that kind of thing."

"That would be very helpful actually. We need both a company and a band logos and such too. Teja came up with the band name Magnus Mörda for us. What do you think of this one? I like the use of glitter and colored glue." He held up the piece in question for her evaluation.

"Do you have any interest in being part of the company financially?"

"Eh, if I'm just doing arts I'll work on commission, it's what I'm used to, and it'll be just over a year until I can get into Uni anyway and I don't know what my schedule will be like after that."

A nod at the picture, "And that's a good one depending on where you're going to put it, it looks best in mid to low lighting, anything too bright and you'll be able to tell just how terrible it really is."

"Fair enough. You can buy in later if you want to, since you are family and all."

He frowned at the picture "It's going into my room. I had one from Toki, that he made me as a get well present and I miss it. My room isn't too brightly lit most of the time, but do you really think it's bad? Which one do you like?"

"They're all terrible, and that's also what makes them awesome. Which Mordhaus are you at? The real one or the ghetto one?"

She was already sorting through the rest of the glitter art, some of it already framed, trying to find ones that would suit either property.

"True enough, but I'll never tell." Stoney snorted "The 'ghetto one' I suppose, if that the one here in London. I've taken the Murderface suite. It's got a great view and looks a lot like my room back home already. It's just missing some personal things."

She backtracked a few pieces, pulling a couple off the shelf, "These two, then." One was a trio of faded neon harlequin masks done in sand instead of glitter, and the other was the same image reversed done in almost matching shades of glitter.

"Nice. Very Mardi Gras. Wrap them up." He followed her back towards the cash register. "If you don't have plans, I'd enjoy having your company for dinner?"

"You want any others?" She asked, wrapping both frames together with easy, practiced movements, something she'd done hundreds of times, "Anything framed is two for three or four for five, and right now you're at a grand total of thirty eight pounds, seventeen pence."

A grin followed, "And dinner's a good idea, I should do that more often, and more than just mac and cheese with Alec and Jane."

"I think this will do for now. What time shall I pick you up? And is Trader Vic's OK?"

His brow wrinkled "38 pounds? That doesn't seem right. How much was the bass?"

"Thirty five seventeen." she said, flicking the tag hanging from the neck, "Just like it says on the tag." A shrug, "Always go by what's on the tag, pretty much the one rule around here."

She paused, "Well, aside from don't upset Muridae, but that goes without saying. And Trader Vic's is good, I'll probably be closing up here round about seven thirty."

Stoney looked at the tag and his mouth opened and closed a few times. Finally he shook his head. "You're the boss. Who's Muridae?" He fished his wallet out of his pocket and handed over his card.

She shrugged, "Most everything comes through tagged already, Sneaky ran the shop off the tags, mum did the same thing when she got it from him, so I figure I should do the same thing, there's a reason for it. And Muridae's the Shadow that lives here. We all figure that technically the shop's hers, she just lets us run it for her."

"Ok then, it works for me. It seems reasonable to respect the in house resident. Thanks for being patient with me. I'm still getting the hang of this place."

She grinned, fashioning a handle for the now deftly-wrapped sand and glitter art out of a few strips of packing tape, "There you go, and don't worry about it. We were all new here once. Some of us have been new here twice!"

"Once is more than enough for me, thanks." He gathered up his art and his new/old bass. "I'll pick you up here at 7:30. Have a good afternoon."
