She'd flown over to the restaurant he'd indicated. Being a fairy was sort of like having an internal, mental GPS. She loved being able to find everything, and she fluttered down to the ground just outside of the eatery. Dusting glitter off of her dress, she walked out to the sidewalk, looking around for her friend.

	Once they were on the street, Bones had to pause. Where the hell were they? He still hadn't gotten the hang of this place, and wherever his place was, the memory had long sense been seen as not nearly as important to his brain as it should have been. 	He handed it over to her without question. Bones knew she'd been there awhile. Besides, this gave him the chance to hold her close while she looked through it. He was acting like a teenager. Bones frowned a little.

"I'm coming on way too strong, I know it. Just... haven't really dated or... shit." He let her go, putting a respectable distance between them.

"Look. I... I don't want to go and fuck things up. We had a nice dinner. I want to get to know you, okay? We can... what do you keep calling it?" He grinned at her. "Unf? We can do that later. If you want. Just... yeah."

Somewhere, he knew Jim was laughing at him. Hard.

He kissed her back, but firmly stood on the sidewalk.

"They are okay. But... c'mon. This would be a one-nighter. Good, but... I dunno. Guess I'm kind of old fashioned."

That was an understatement and a half. Bones had thought he'd been in it for life before his ex-wife had started screwing a boy barely out of school and taking nearly everything from him.

This was all moving too fast. He just couldn't give in to his body screaming for hers. Truth was, he liked her. He liked her cheerfulness but at the same time how utterly practical she was. He liked kissing her.

He didn't want to mess this up. And he was sure he would.

It'd be easy. In a lot of ways, it'd be the easy way out. But he had principles, and dammit, he was going to stick by them.

So instead, he flagged a taxi, after a harrowing drive, and took her to Disneyland.

He'd always heard of the park, which had long since shut down by the time he was a kid. Now, walking through Main Street USA with her hand in his, Leonard McCoy finally got to go.

Not sex, not really close, but the best damn beginning he could think up on such short notice.

"My kids are amazing. Iggy and Angel I adopted, they had no family when they got here, and their life back home was pretty awful." She sighed and bit her lip. "John I had with Raven, my ex-husband. I ... see, the first guy I dated, Alec? He got taken away from here after we broke up. And Raven and I were fine, but then he got taken away too. And now I sometimes live with Bill, who I love and everything, but he's someone else's and even though he's into the whole polygamy thing, I kind of want someone for me." She sighed, scrubbing her face with her hands. "That was TMI, huh."

"I've been to amusement parks, but never Disneyland. I guess you haven't been either. If you were exploring space so much, it must have been because something happened here, right?"

"Naw, Earth is safe. Starfleet just existed to explore what was out there, and to protect the peace. You know, bullshit like that. This place was closed down by 2100 though. I'm from 2233, in this calender." He wasn't going to bother with Stardates when he wasn't even in space.

"Always wished I could go though. Seemed like it would be a nice place." And it was, but he could do with a lot less people running around in costumes.

He almost asked how fairies got made then, but he changed his mind.

"They made a couple other parks here and there. Always thought I'd take my kids to them, but the ex-wife never wanted any, so that's that."

That part rankled more than her taking virtually everything he owned. Starfleet had been a blessing in disguise, but he would have liked to have a kid or two.

She squeezed his hand more tightly at the mention of that. Part of her felt the glee she always felt when she knew she'd been right about something - she was a fairy, she liked being right - but the rest of her felt sadness that this sweet, gentle man had to bury his sorrow in seeming upset and grumpy. "Told you you'd be a good dad. How long ago was it?" It still seemed raw.
