Aveline had called ahead. She told Alistair that she needed to talk and asked him to meet her at the coffee shop. She was worried after he friends had made the fuss that he would think this was a date and had awkwardly said it was just coffee.

She waited at her table, watching for him to come in. He was usually pretty early so she made sure she would be there first.
