Who: Aedan Surana and Melora Hawke
Where: Morrigan's woods
What: Nothin'!
Warnings: None

Melora had met Aedan in this spot a dozen times before. There were a few different spots in the woods they usually rotated, to avoid notice. She was hidden high up in one of the thick trees, completely still and nearly invisible. She watched the area closely, waiting for the first sign of her friend.

His mention of Morrigan made her just a little nervous. Back home Melora didn't worry too much, because Morrigan gave Aedan a great deal of freedom, and probably wouldn't waste her time following him. Now, though, Aedan said he was still training with her. She probably had him on a tighter leash. Hopefully she wouldn't come looking.

She laughed, letting him go and smoothing down his hair a little before she stepped back to be at a reasonable 'friend' distance. "You weren't wobbly! You did great," she said, grinning. She was giddy after every flight, but this one particularly so. "Thanks for letting me fly with you," she said, smiling warmly at him. "I just lo--"

Her words were cut off when they were both hit by lightning. It wasn't a long strike, but it sent Melora stumbling. Morrigan was approaching the two, and she looked furious.

Oh dear. This wasn't going to end well, was it? Acting almost entirely off instinct, Aedan pushed Melora behind him, just in case Morrigan decided to lash out again. If anyone was going to take responsibility for this, it'd be him.

"Mother, I'm sorry I didn't say where I was going," he wouldn't be surprised if the lightning was the least of what she was going to do. Some things, it seemed, barely differed between universes. "I just... it's not like I wasn't training. I think I'm even doing better now."

Melora barely realized what was happening. Her ears were still ringing a little. She didn't have any intention of moving, though, when she realized she was behind Aedan. Her hands on his back, she healed them both. Hopefully that would clear her head, too.

Morrigan glowered at him. "Yes, I saw what you were doing," she said, her tone icy. "It has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever witnessed." And given the amount of time she had spent with Aedan's father, that was saying something. "Aside from the danger," not that she really cared for the random elf girls that seemed to flock to her son, "you are not a workhorse! You're an Old God! You should act like it!"

Aedan had actually assumed she meant more the danger to their privacy out here. Not that it seemed to count for much, considering Dar had been able to find them out by accident that one time. "I was careful. Mostly. I know it's not like an Old God, but..."

There was really no explaining this, was there? At least not in ways that Morrigan wouldn't take as evidence of further stupidity.

"You don't give pony rides for the neighborhood children, Aedan. It isn't dignified." She hadn't been this angry with Aedan for a long time. Being an Old God wasn't only about knowing magic and changing into a dragon. He had to learn to behave himself, too. He couldn't fall for every pretty face he came across. What possibly could have possessed him to do something so stupid? No. She didn't want to know. "Go inside. Now. And you." She leaned to the side to see around Aedan. "Go home," she told Melora. Next time, she would set the girl on fire. She turned around and started stalking back toward the house.

Well, yes, there was that, but... for the first time in a long while, Morrigan saying something like that actually didn't put Aedan off. He deserved to have the occasional nice thing, he'd just... have to be a lot more sneaky from now on. Somehow.

"I'm sorry about mother," he murmured, turning back to Melora. Surely she wouldn't mind if he delayed just a little. "Maybe if we're more careful we could... meet up again sometime? She can't stop me going out for good."

Dragon-related things might be out, for a time, but it wasn't like it was the only thing he could do.

Melora had stuck her tongue out at Morrigan after the woman had started walking away. She quickly pulled it back in when Aedan turned around, blushing. Yeah, she wasn't the most dignified person, either. "Yeah," she said, smiling sheepishly. "We can be careful. Meeting again sounds good."

In Melora's world, Morrigan had eventually started ignoring Melora's visits. Of course, Melora had been a lot younger than Aedan, then. Things were a little more complicated now.
