Entry tags:anders, marian hawke, merrill

Who: Anders, Hawke and Merrill
What: a Talk
Where: Anders' place
Warnings: Probably not.

Anders was nervous. Very nervous. He was straightening up his very bare apartment making sure there wasn't anything questionable laying around. He hoped this Hawke didn't punch too hard. He liked his face being pretty.

Anders laughed, "No, I don't really want a pony. They're hard to take care of. Cats are easy. And Ser might get jealous."

Hawke chuckled softly. "Maker, can you imagine? And Loki'd just look all offended whenever you went near it...

Actually, speaking of Loki kinda reminded her. What would the others even begin to think of this? Should they even tell them? "We... should probably decide what we're going to tell the others about this. It might be a little hard to explain."

Merrill tilted her head, thinking on that. "Well... We could just tell them we all like each other? They already know Anders and I kissed. And that you used to like one another. It shouldn't be that difficult to explain, should it?"

Isabela should understand the concept, at least. And Varric seemed to have a good imagination.

Anders laughed. "I'm sure they'll understand very well. Varric will write a book. Isabela will say been there, done that, and Aveline will just scratch her head and say, of course we're all together, not really understanding anything."

"And Fenris will just mutter something about mages and go right back to brooding..." Hawke paused, thinking it over a little. "Actually, knowing Isabela, she's probably going to say 'about time' and go on about longing glances or something like that..."

If Varric did end up writing a book about it, she'd already resolved she was going to make him split whatever coin he got for it. It was only fair.

Merrill blinked when Anders started laughing, not having expected that reaction. "Been there, done--Oh!" She pushed her hair back. Varric would write books about them no matter what they said, wouldn't he? This one just might be a little more accurate.

"So.. we shouldn't tell them?"

"Oh, I didn't say that. We might as well, they'll find out eventually. They're our friends after all. I figure they'll mostly be amused by the whole thing anyway."

They could not tell anyone, but then they would just assume. It would be easier to tell them. "I just vote I'm not the one to tell them." They probably wouldn't believe him. He still thought this was all a dream anyway.

"I guess I could tell them," Hawke was, after all, used to being the one who had to break news to people. Came as part of being the hero... even if it didn't usually involve things like this. "I might just need you to step in if they accuse me of being drunk and imagining it all."

"I can help," Merrill said brightly. She didn't mind at all. She was used to her friends looking at her like she was crazy. It would probably be most believable coming from Hawke.

She shifted her chin over to Hawke's shoulder. "Should we have another party to tell them? Or send a letter? Or tell them one at a time?"

Anders was still grinning. "I don't think my voice will inspire confidence of sobriety, but I'll assure them if you want." A party didn't exactly sound like the best idea but if you told them one at a time they might pout about who they told first. He didn't really know the best answer for that.

"If we did the party option, I think we're all banned from drinking," mostly because Hawke kinda suspected that'd devolve into something far less telling and a lot more showing. "We need some way of letting them all know at once, just to avoid Varric sulking."

Because when Varric sulked and gave the puppy dog eyes, it always did terrible things to Hawke's resolve. Damn him and his terrible ways.

"Maybe a dinner? It would be nice to see everyone together. But it might be strange to make that sort of announcement." She shrugged. "Do you want to use that internet?" Merrill didn't know much about the etiquette rules at play, either involving the internet or how to tell friends about threesomes. It's too bad they couldn't just change their relationship status to 'It's complicated.'

Anders shrugged. He didn't know etiquette about this kind of thing either. "Maybe its best to not make a big deal over it. If we make some big announcement people will make a big deal of it, right? I mean we should tell them I just. I don't know."

"We could just put up something like... 'we fixed our problems in a way that Isabela would be proud of'?" it was the only suggestion Hawke could honestly think of that didn't make it out to be something 'big'. "Either that or 'we're together, ask too many questions and one of us may attempt set you on fire'."

And no, there weren't any prizes for guessing who the 'one of us' mentioned in the latter was.

Merrill giggled a little. "Maybe we should just tell Varric and let him tell everyone." Varric would probably embellish details, and the others might not believe him, but at least then it would be out of their hands. "And if they ask us if it's true, we can just be all cool and mysterious," she said, making her best 'Wouldn't-you-like-to-know?' face. As though Merrill had ever been able to pull off 'cool and mysterious.'

Anders grinned, "Sounds like a great idea to me. Varric doesn't pout about not being told and we only have to tell one person."

Hawke couldn't help but laugh. Maker, she'd clearly picked the best people to fall in love with - not only were they pretty, and amazing to be with in general, but they had really good ideas. "Varric it is, then. If he makes something up that's beyond ridiculous, though, I'm going to 'accidentally' punch him."

Not what bodyguards usually did, she knew, but bodyguards didn't often have to tell their boss that they were considering threesome-related things.
