The week was over, and Annie was happy to be finished. She'd spent the whole day slaving over a bake stove for a simpering twat of a woman, and after three trays of gummy profiteroles, Annie was ready to go home and cook a gougere just for her own fucking pride. She'd changed out of whites, packed her knives, and was now heading out the door. She could practically smell the portkey and freedom.

"She knows that she is trés belle, and that is the problem." He chuckled and reached up to scritch her behind the neck. "I found her when she was a baby, and she has been my mother ever since, to hear her tell it. You may pet her, if you wish."
