Who: Morrigan and the Grey Warden
What: ARGH, feelings.
Warnings: Just blood and gore. No sexings, I swear.

Morrigan's insistence that she didn't have feelings made it difficult for her to actually process said mythical feelings in a stable, mature way. Any attempt to logically explain her actions at this point was idiotic, in her opinion. She was killing demons. It was what she had done in Fereldan. She had wiped out a nest of lesser demons in Cornwall, pulling them out and taking them on one at a time. It took hours, but that was what she needed. Grueling, mindless work to clear her head.

Once Cornwall was clear, she'd sought out something more difficult. Petit had sent her after feral weres, the sort that had lost all humanity and were dangerous month-round. Of course, being the full moon, they were stronger. And they hunted in packs. Morrigan hadn't been ready for all of them, and they'd taken her down. She'd tried keeping herself healed, but there was only so much she could do. Her body was lying in the bushes, bleeding and missing several large chunks of skin where she'd been bit.

She tilted her head, raising a brow in his direction as he spoke of surprises. "We are still talking about the weres, aren't we?"

She nodded. "We move, then." A full-out run would be difficult to manage, but she would try to match the Warden's pace.

"If there's even one amongst them that's got at least half a mind left, there could still be surprises... or maybe I'm vastly overestimating them," to be entirely fair, the only weres he'd really encountered had been the ones that the Dalish had been fighting.

Knowing that running likely wouldn't be possible for her for a while longer, he didn't set too strenuous a pace, just enough for them to likely keep ahead of any approaching nasties.

Morrigan smirked. She had half-suspected he was talking about her. Apparently not. She shrugged. "We can be careful, then. If it will make you feel better."

She kept up with Alim, not complaining of any strain. It would be nice to get home.

"Or I could be underestimating you," he admitted. It'd been a long time since he'd seen Morrigan fight, but he could at least vaguely remember her jamming her staff into a high dragon's eye once... or maybe that was just one of his interesting dreams that happened when things knocked him out. "How many of them did you manage to take down?"

He was allowed to be curious, wasn't he?

"Only three of these," she said with a shrug. "A few dozen of the others. It was a nest; I cleared it. I fear I may have robbed my friend Bela of her go-to punching bag." Yes, Morrigan had a friend.

"These hunt in packs. I don't think their territory stretches much further than this, though." The woods were starting to thin.

Morrigan with a friend? By the Maker, did miracles never cease in this world?

"Demons repopulate quickly, and the weres may be weaker when the moon is waning... either way, she'll have her punching bag back eventually," if there was one thing Alim's education in the Circle had provided, it was little bits of information like that. "You're amazing to have taken three down on a night like tonight, even if it didn't end too well."

Morrigan rolled her eyes upon being complimented. "Didn't I make it clear you weren't going to talk your way into my bed, Warden?" She didn't need pointless praise from her former companion. "You haven't even seen them."

"You made it very clear. I was just complimenting, nothing more," Alim knew she didn't like them at the best of times, but still... "Unless weres are dramatically different between here and Thedas, I have a decent enough idea of what they're like."

To be honest, with her saying that, he half-expected her to spin some tale about them being twenty feet tall with eyes that shot fire... or maybe that was more a Flemeth thing to do.

"There's no need for that," she said, waving her hand. "What if they'd been as ferocious as kittens? Taking out three certainly wouldn't have been impressive. So... shush." They had, of course, been stronger than that, and more of a fight than she could handle. Still, Alim didn't know that, so his compliments were meaningless.

He knew enough from the state they'd left her in, in his opinion. "But kittens don't gouge out chunks of skin or leave you a bleeding mess," he pointed out. "If they do, someone should really warn the Grey Wardens back in Ferelden before Ser Pounce-a-Lot exterminates the lot of them."

That earned a smirk. She supposed there was some evidence, so she wouldn't argue further. "Still, I don't require praise from you." She wasn't an easy woman to compliment.

"I think I know my way back from here," she said as they reached a clearing.

And without there being any sign of danger, he was more than happy to accept that. He gave a slight bow, unable to resist the urge.

"Take care, Morrigan," he said. "Maybe next time we run into each other, there'll be less blood and death involved."

She gave a small nod. "Perhaps. Stranger things have happened, I suppose." It would take a while for things to stabilize, she thought. Maybe one day, she and Alim could be around eachother without wondering what might have been. Perhaps they could be... friends.

"Thank you, Warden," she said just before touching the portkey and disappearing. She had no desire to see his response to that small gesture.

When she arrived home, she greeted Brother with a smile. Through the ring, Alim would note a strong wave of relief, and even some happiness.
