Who: Rahne and Anakin
What: Nonobits Switcheroo
Warnings: Probably not.

Rahne had been weird during Anakin's foray into the phallically disadvantaged, but Rahne was always looking for excuses to be weird, so it wasn't that off-putting. And he was healthy again, so to speak, so she was a bit closer to normal. He didn't know why these things kept happening, but he suspected that somehow it would work out within a week.

A week and a half, tops.

In the meantime, Anakin was standing outside Rahne's door with a pizza floating in the air beside him, a six-pack of Pepsi sitting on top of it. He knocked on the door, then relieved telekinesis of its burden. "Rahne? I'm a boy again. I thought we could hang out. I brought food."

There were no Jamies around to tease him for what "hang out" probably meant. Which was a relief.

A long time ago, Rahne had a friend named Dani that had communicated with her telepathically when she was a wolf. She was sort of an anchor for Rahne. She was so free when she was a wolf, but she was sometimes wary of taking this form for two long, unsure she would be able to come back. Having someone that could reach her telepatically eased her mind. Not to mention the intimacy of such a bond.

But right now, Rahne needed to be outdoors. Away from humans (save his own) and their social awkwardness. He walked over to the door and glanced back at Anakin. He could break it down easily, but it would be better if she helped.

Anakin took a jacket from the coat hook on Rahne's wall. "Can I borrow this?" She didn't expect an answer, but nor did she think that Rahne would really care. Anakin opened the door and followed behind Rahne, who trotted out in front of her. "Let me stop by my room for a second." She rushed to her door, pulled her lightsaber and a belt to herself with the Force, then closed the door.

"All right, Rahne." Anakin followed behind his canine male girlfriend, slightly relieved that he was hiding in the hairy form. It meant that they were ever so slightly less awkward. As they walked, Anakin wrapped the belt around her waist and safeguarded herself against any further nudity that the weight of her sword might have brought.

Luckily the rest of the X-Factor staff was too busy or distracted to pay much attention to the wolf and his male girlfriend. They didn't have to go more than a few blocks before they'd reached a park. Rahne glanced up at Anakin before breaking into a sprint and leaving him behind. He crossed to the far end of the park, not out of eyesight.

Being able to run free was exhilarating. The wind through his fur, and the damp grass under his feet.. He indulged in chasing a squirrel for a few moments before racing back to Anakin.

"So is it because you're a boy, or because you're a wolf, that you're chasing rodents?" Anakin figured that petting was probably allowed, so she did that.

Rahne wanted to be with Anakin. Anakin got it. It clicked in his head. Normally, she would hide from him, hide completely, ask him to leave and spend the rest of the week in her closet and try to get back to normal. But now, even if she was still doing her best not to be a boy (being a wolf didn't count, apparently). "Nice day, isn't it? Sex changing aside."

Rahne's jaws snapped playfully close to Anakin's fingers. He let her pet him for a few moments before shaking his whole body. It was still different, being a male wolf. But he didn't spend enough time in his wolf form that he was entirely comfortable that way, so he wasn't much more out of his element than usual. Usually if he needed to use his abilities on a case, he changed into his transitional (or 'wookiee') form. The wolf was a rarity.

Rahne circled a few times and then lay down next to Anakin, sniffing at the grass in front of him. He glanced around at the other people in the park, ears twitching slightly. Anakin was his human. Not that any of the people seemed to want to get close to the man with the scary animal.

One man, still several yards away, observed, "Your dog looks like a wolf." He was probably thinking about telling Anakin that the city had leash laws, but thought better of it after the glare he got from the 'dog'.

"No it doesn't." Anakin waved his hand in the direction of the other man and reached out with the Force.

"I take it back, it doesn't."

"It's clearly a dog."

"Everyone knows you don't get wolves in this part of the state."

"He's very well trained."

"Probably don't even need a leash, on a dog like that."

"Move along."

"Well, take care, pal."

Anakin looked back at Rahne. "See? You were going to scare him off. Subtlety can be your friend, Rahnie."

The wolf gave a dismissive snort. He didn't have a problem with people being scared off. It was probably a good thing Anakin was here, though. Would've been harder to convince someone he was just an overgrown Husky without the Force.

Getting a little restless, the wolf started for the far end of the park again, where there were some trees. He moved at a leisurely pace, weaving in and out of the treeline. Then he pounced at some small animal.

They had been out here for a while. Rahne very rarely spent this much time as a wolf. Her mind was gradually becoming a little harder to reach.

The squirrel scampered away, much to Rahne's palpable annoyance. Anakin didn't know how good wolves were at climbing trees, but he suspected that it wasn't that good. She ran after her wolf boy-girlfriend. "Rahne, we should get back," she said, a bit of nervousness creeping into her already too-high voice.

Rahne didn't seem inclined to listen, so once again Anakin tried reason mixed with the Force. "You're getting more... well, dog-like, frankly. And I know you don't want to be embarrassed as a boy but I'm worried that if you keep this up, you're going to do something you regret." He didn't think Rahne was likely to hurt anyone, but Anakin still had scars on her face from her feral side taking over. "Something like mounting a girl dog."

Rahne scrunched up his nose a little, pawing at the ground and then looking up at Anakin. He did not look pleased by this turn of events. He liked running and being outside. What good was having a Jedi girl-boyfriend if he wanted to stop anchoring you after a little squirrel chase?

But a part of him knew she was right. It would be nice if he could spend the next however-long-this-took curled up and sleeping at the foot of Anakin's bed. But the damage that would do to his brain would be too much. Even if Anakin could pull him back, he would still be all snarly for a while.

Anakin smiled and patted Rahne on the head. "Good girl." She stood and started to walk back toward X-Factor, Rahne keeping pace behind her. But a sense of mischief or whimsy or adventure took her, and instead she began to run.

"Come on, I bet I beat you there!" There was almost no hope of doing so. But they could afford a little fun considering that, when this day was over, they would probably be driving themselves crazy.

Rahne's ears perked up and he tilted his head to the side. Then, mouth open in a grin and tongue hanging out, he bounded after Anakin. He passed Anakin then skidded to a stop, spinning around to look at the slower Jedi. He wagged his tail, giving a low barking noise. He ran back toward Anakin, spinning around behind her and running forward again, nearly tripping up the girl.

Anakin (who had, in the past twenty minutes or so, developed the distressing tendency to call herself Ani in her own head) leapt over her charging man-wolf girlfriend. The flip was probably very impressive to any spectators. It would have been even more impressive if Anakin had been more used to her different center of gravity, and as such had not lost her balance and fell on her ass.

Maybe Rahne's transformation had had an effect on Anakin, too. It became more and more easy to think of him as a dog and less like a girlfriend. She wasn't quite ready to start rubbing his belly, though.

Rahne skidded to a stop and turned around to see Anakin on her ass. He trotted back to his fallen comrade and sniffed him worriedly. He didn't smell blood, or anything. He sniffed at Ani's hair another moment and then started taking care of her by licking her face.
