WHO: Captain Isabela and Captain Jack
WHAT: Getting the lay of the land
WHERE: Somewhere in the Florida Keys
WARNINGS: Two pirate captains with filthy minds. Do the math.

Isabela had been hopping ferries and just visiting every island she could. She'd found her flat - a tiny hole in a town called Nassau - but she'd also found things called credit cards. She'd gone to all different places, and now she was in a town called Key West, sitting at a bar. The drinks were good.

Jack had been on one of his semi-regular forays to visit Anne and check on the museum, as he did from time to time, usually just in time to regale a school field trip or a pack of tourists with stories from the old days.

It had been girl scouts this time, though that had been some time ago, and he'd been in the bar for the past hour or so, just enjoying himself a little before going home.

His brow arched as he looked the woman over before weaving his way through the crowd, "You look like a woman who could use another drink."

	The accent was rough, sounding Fereldan to her ears. She wondered where he came from in this world, but he was rather good looking, so she didn't wonder too much. "I wouldn't say no; I'm not sailing home." Isabela raised a brow, lips pursing into a faint smile. "Then again, honestly, I'm not sure I'd say no even if I was." (Reply to this)

Something about him made her laugh as well. "I can safely say you don't know the half of it." She'd been drinking a decent local beer, and she motioned for two more. "I'm Isabela. You a sailor yourself?" His clothes were odd, but no one dressed in a decent way here. Everyone was all covered up, and none of the men wore armor or even leathers. No one even carried a sword; she still kept a dagger up her sleeve, but that was all she'd been able to fit under these clothes. It was all very odd and frumpy.

	"You might say as much." He agreed with a nod before offering her a hand, "Jack Sparrow, Captain, even after all these years." Because it was true, even without a proper ship, and decades at land, he was still a Captain. (Reply to this)

"Captain? Of a ship?" She raised an eyebrow, amused in spite of herself. "I can technically still claim that privilege myself, though the Siren's Call went down in a hurricane. And you really don't look old at all." It was true; he said 'all these years', but unless he'd worked his way up as a cabin boy or something (did they do that nowadays?) he couldn't be older than thirty-five.

Inwardly that did make Isabela nervous - the only immortals she'd ever seen or heard of were Old Gods, and those were not to be trifled with. Outwardly, though, she did (what she thought was) a pretty fair job of looking nonplussed. "Must be handy in battle," she said lightly, taking a pull of her drink. "Assuming you're talking a proper ship - mast, rigging, sails and all. These silly things with automatic steering are just boats." They got one onto the sea. That was about it.

	"Bird, docile, big, used to be quite prolific, but they were also quite delicious. And now there aren't any more." He shrugged then, sipping at his drink, "There's a few still about, but none worth sailing, really." He smiled, brow arching, "Our Anne's going to fix that though, at least a little." Isabela couldn't keep her voice level. "Who is Anne? What can I do to get a ship?" She'd do damn near anything. And there was likely no reason to hide it from this Captain Jack; he'd likely know. Especially if he was an Old God.

"I don't know how to do anything else." She explained in a slightly calmer tone, after a few more pulls of her whisky. If he was unusual, maybe he'd understand her predicament. "I'm not from here. I'm from a time when ships were the only way of getting 'round. I was a raider. I'd ship anything but flesh." She'd put her foot down on Castillon when he'd wanted her to run slaves, by the Maker! "I don't know how to do anything on land except ... drink and whore?" And while he was very handsome, she didn't feel like fucking her way to a command.

"Anne Bonney, one of the others around here who knows how things used to be, how they should be." He tilted his head from side to side, weighing out the next answer and finally shrugging, "You'd have to commission a ship from a builder, s'what she did, costs a small fortune."

He huffed a laugh, "Been aland myself for decades now, and still not entirely sure what to do with myself."

	He shrugged, "I've a husband and a daughter and friends to keep me busy. Bill does most of the tutoring these days, but I help now and then." 	Isabela slumped moodily at the bar. "Well, I'm glad you've a family ... wait." Something jangled in her brain. "Bill. Do you and he know a Remy? I met him when I got here; said he might find me a spot as a thief. I'm a good cutpurse, but it isn't the same at all." Why hadn't Remy said that he knew bloody pirate captains? (Reply to this)

	"Sire? He's his son?" Isabela looked confused. "And what do you tutor?" She sighed, calling for another round; she'd pay for his this time. "M'sorry, just ... out of my element." She rubbed her eyes. "I need to sail. Need to be on the sea. You can understand that, right?" She laid a (thankfully still-soft) hand on his arm, eyes tired. (Reply to this)

"Oh! Right. Petit. I met her too." She managed a small smile. "She seemed ... kind. I suppose there are worse things than to work for her or Remy." But the sea would always call her, and at least someone seemed to grasp that.

She did like that little smile, though. "You must have stories beyond imagining, if you've really been on the sea forever." She kept her hand on his arm; he hadn't taken it off yet. He said he had a husband, but well, sometimes men lied.

	"An excellent trait in an assassin." Isabela managed a smile. "The only other person I know from my home is called Zevran; he grew up in an assassin's guild, basically. "They are, aren't they?" It really was true, upon reflection. "Sweet, charming, and deadly. It's rather what I aspire to myself." She smiled brighter; conversation with a handsome man did have a way of brightening her spirit. "Don't worry, though; I haven't nicked anything from you. Pirate's code; never show up, steal from, or press hands from another captain." It was true, at least in Thedas, and she'd actually stuck to it for the most part.
