Emily had finished primping upstairs, and trotted down to the living room. She hadn't dressed up too much, but she had put on a bit of makeup. She thought she looked cute, but she knew her father would still freak out. She'd known all day he'd freak out even if she said that she and Remus were going to go to a bookstore staffed with only Amish people. "Hey, Dad? Are you ready to come freak out?"

Cal emerged from his office when called, closing a file he'd been looking at. He looked Emily up and down, trying to assess modesty as well as difficulty level of clothing removal. He seemed a little distracted, but he nodded, satisfied. "You look nice," he said, shrugging.

Now the boy on the other hand.. Someone who claimed to be a werewolf when they were all the rage. Well, Cal didn't trust him with his daughter yet, and doubted the boy could do much to change his mind when he arrived. Good old fashioned intimidation would just have to do in a pinch. "And you're going where, again?"

Remus was nervous. He normally didn't have much of a problem with girls, but he normally wasn't going on dates with girls. He also didn't normally have a problem with parents. Parents were usually easier than people his age. But he had never met the parents of a girl he was dating. From what he's learned from Sirius and James, parents don't like boys that date their daughters.

He knew he was over thinking it, but he really couldn't help it. He tried to look nice and ended up looking a bit more like a forty-something librarian. And he knew it looked like a forty-something librarian, but he couldn't help it. He really didn't know how he was expected to dress for this kind of thing, and was really wondering right now how Sirius had gotten him into this mess, and then remembered that he had said yes to this.

Sirius had tried to help him, but there was no help for him. Everything Sirius had suggested sounded like a horrible idea at the time and now he was regretting not following his suggestions. He looked like a forty-something librarian.

Remus was nervous. He knocked on the door, wiping his hands, which were a little sweaty, on his pants.

	Emily held up a hand to keep her father away from the door. "No scaring him already, he just got here." She grinned and answered the knock, beaming when she saw Remus. "Hi. You look really nice. 	Remus tried to smile, though it looked very nervous. "You look very nice, as well. I mean, better than me obviously. I mean. Hi." He looked nervously over at her father, fear rather plan. Cal let Emily answer the door, following a few steps behind her, looking over her shoulder.

Oh, that was rich. The boy looked incredibly awkward and bookish. Might even be a good influence on Emily. He had a hard time believing this kid could get into much trouble. He certainly didn't look like he was going to try to make a move on Emily. Still, he didn't let up just yet.

"Where're you two going?" he asked again. And then, purely because he was a little mean-spirited, he turned to the boy. "You. Remus, yeah? Are you planning to have sex with my daughter?"

He was satisfied with the boy's reaction. "Yeah, well I want to make sure he isn't an idiot, either." He waved his hand at Remus. He didn't like seeing him relax when he looked at Emily, even if it was only a fraction. Teenagers. Thought herd immunity applied to social situations, too.

"Emily, sweetheart, I think I saw your purse in the kitchen. Go on, I won't bite him." He gave her a grin. "Don't forget your phone!"

	Oh, this was not good. Not good at all. As uncomfortable as Emily made him, as all humans made him, she was at least somewhat familiar. And much less scary. He tried to smile at Dr. Lightman and only ended up looking ill. Why did people put themselves through this kind of thing. He couldn't understand it. At all. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Yeah, yeah, I'll get right on that," he told Emily, having heard her line about wanting a car before. He waved her off.

Watching Remus shrink, he poked his tongue in his cheek. It was hard not to show his amusement. He took a step forward, intruding on the boy's personal space. "You seem like," a good kid? "a forty-year old librarian, actually." It was a bit odd. He shrugged, seeming a bit casual. As he progressed, though, his tone became more serious, and his eyecontact was intense. "Much as I might prefer tweed to some rockstar wannabe's leather jacket, it doesn't really matter if I like you, see? I'm Emily's dad, and it's my job to make sure you think I am the scariest motherfucker on the planet. Now, I can see you're scared. That's good. You remember that fear, and everything'll be just dandy."

	Remus was sure that Emily's father wasn't the scariest...person he'd ever met, but at the moment he couldn't think of anyone. He shrunk back further when Dr. Lightman got into his space, eyes wide.
