Remy knew that she had to talk to Cian, what with all the weird stuff Ellery went on about. He was claiming that they were in love with each other and should get married. She didn't know if that had been out of nowhere, but she promised that she would call Cian and actually talk to him, or at least talk to him about talking to each other. So she picked up the phone and called Cian up, hoping that if they talked about it maybe she wouldn't feel so weird about things.

"Cian? It's Remy.." she told him when he picked up the phone. "How are you? And Happy New Years by the way."

	Ellery had told him to expect the phone call, but he still jumped when it rang. He gave Ellery a look, before answering. "Happy New Years to you, too." He replied. He shifted, turning a little so he couldn't see Ellery's face. "I'm fine. Sitting here in front of the fire. How are you?" (Reply to this) (Thread)

Yeah she was kind of glad that Ellery hadn't left it up to her to say what needed saying and that Cian wasn't totally in the dark. "He's just trying to.. I mean it could be a lot worse you know. Way worse things then trying to set his dad up to be happy.." she offered, hoping that it wasn't that bad. "No.. I mean, well a little.. just.. I think we should talk, the three of us maybe."

	"I'll be right there," then she hung up the phone and put on her shoes and left the house. It didn't take her but a minute to get to the portkey and then get herself to where Cian and Ellery lived. Cian opened the door with a smile. He bent down to kiss Remy's cheek, then stepped back to invite her in. Ellery was close by, looking sheepish as only a young boy could, when he was seeing a devious sort of plan unfold. He just hoped he hadn't screwed things up, by being too blunt.

"We're glad you could make it," he said, trying to sound very grown up.

Cian shook his head, though he was amused more than upset for the moment. He shut the door and held an arm out. "Shall we go into the den? Sit by the fire."

	Smiling back at Cian, she kissed his cheek in return and went inside. Spotting Ellery, she went over and ruffled his hair. "Thanks for letting me come over.." she told them both, nodding her head. "Oh yeah that would be nice.." Hanging up her coat, Remy followed them into the den so that she could sit by the fire. It was so much warmer here than at her house. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Um .. nah, that's okay.." she told him, shaking her head. She stretched out her legs in front of her, and gave a sigh. "He did," Cian gave Ellery a sidelong look.

The boy had the decency to look shamed. "But come on. It makes sense. You love her, she loves you. Even if you don't know it. Adults are so stubborn, sometimes."

"It's not always that easy, Ellery." Cian shook his head. He knew Ellery meant well, but he couldn't help thinking the boy was in over his head.

"Why not?" Ellery asked, looking at his dad for answers.

Remy almost felt bad for the kid, just because she knew he had been just trying to help out with things. Even if they didn't know it, that was the thing. "If.. people don't know that they love each other, I'm not sure that means that they actually do.."

God it was hard to explain. "But your dad is right, it's not always that easy.. it's.. it takes more than two people loving each other to get married. Relationships take time and work."

"But you've known each other already a long time. And you cured my dad from when he was falling down all the time. And I just thought it'd be easier if you were married and you lived with us." It was all so simple to him, he didn't get what the big deal was, why they couldn't just agree to get married and be done with it.

"Come here, son." Cian put his arms out for Ellery to come to his lap. "I know you mean well, and I'm not saying it'll never happen, but you can't rush things like marriage. I know you like Remy, and I think what you're doing is very sweet, but if we decide to get married, it has to be our choice."

Ellery's bottom lip stuck out. He wasn't quite pouting, but he didn't really know what to say, either.

"I know we've known each other months and months now.. and that seems like a long time to you.." Remy agreed, putting her hands in her lap and just staring at them for a while because she didn't really know what to say.

"Your dad's right though, it has to be our choice. I mean I like your dad.. I like him an awful lot.. I just.." She let out a sigh. "We've only just started.. um.. you know, all of that grown up stuff.. I mean I don't even know if we're friends or something other than that.. see how it's all complicated?"

She just wanted to make the kid all right at this point, but she didn't really know how.

"So, don't take it personally, all right? Remy and I, we need to figure some things out, before we can really take that step." Cian smoothed a hand over Ellery's hair. "I know it's difficult for you to understand, but I want you to know, Remy is your friend too, and I'm sure she'll still come around and we'll go and see her too, even if we don't get married, okay?"

Ellery shrugged. "I'm gonna go play a video game." He pushed off Cian's lap and started for the door.

"I'm definitely your friend and I will always come around to see you even if nothing happens between me and your dad.." she assured him, nodding her head. "I promise I'm not going to stay away, no matter what happens." That was the only thing that she could promise, even if he looked so upset going off to play his video game.

She waited until he was gone to rub at her face a bit. "I'm.. sorry. I mean I know it's not .. anyone's fault but it's just.. I feel bad."

"Well it's .. fine. I mean I understand how he feels I guess. And yeah maybe misguided but at least he means well.." He was kind of lucky, she thought, to have a kid who just wanted to have a mother and father and a family and all of that. "I.. I'm not sure what we should do now though. I mean what I said, I like you a lot. But it's not like we've even.." she trailed off.

	"That works. I think it'll be good for us." He nodded. Yeah, this was still awkward, but at least it hadn't been a disaster. She was still there, she wanted to still spend time with him.
