[Open to Park City Residents; Tag Jack Twist]
Who: Carlos Serrano and Jack Twist, Carlos Serrano and [open]
What: Talking to Jack about medical tests, talking to anyone else about any sort of medical advice
Where: Carlos' clinic in Park City
When: Monday afternoon
Rating: TBD
Status: Incomplete

As he had promised Jack, Carlos was in the clinic right after his lunch break. It had been surprisingly busy for the size of the town, Carlos thought, which was encouraging. It meant that people were not worried about coming to see him for immigration reasons - he'd made sure to make it perfectly clear to everyone that he was not looking to deport anyone.

No, he'd dealt with enough of that when he'd been put on the case in California - he didn't need to worry about the same situation happening here when he had control over things. He wore the traditional white coat of a physician and proper attire - it was a change from the Genetics lab. Still, it as a change that he was glad about - helping people had been his main motivation in going into Medicine in the first place.

He sighed, tapping his pen against the edge of the table while he waited for a patient's blood tests. They were well-equipped for a small clinic, able to do basic tests in their own labs (and able to send out more complex exams to a nearby lab that Carlos had found was extremely efficient), which he was thrilled about.

"I don't doubt it." He smiled a little, shaking his head. "It still bothers me a little and I've been blown up, so."

Jack gave him a look. "Blown up?"

He blinked, not meaning that to sound as inappropriate as it did. He thought better than to try and excuse himself, not wanting to draw attention to it, in case Carlos missed it.

He laughed. "Someone did not agree with our monitoring genetic enhancements and that sort of thing - he came into the lab with explosives strapped to him and blew us up. We ... lost our lab coordinator and a friend of mine lost her leg."

After a pause, he carefully removed the full vial of blood and eased the needle out of Jack's arm, holding a cotton ball to it. "It was about a year ago."

"S'awful, man. Sorry t'hear 'at." He seemed much more relaxed, now that the needles were out of the equation.

Carlos capped the vial and labeled it with the appropriate tests.

"It's all right. We are ... dealing." It had been hardest on David - Jill had left, Caroline had died ... and then his father's suicide...

He nodded a little. "F'ere's anything I can do, jus' lemme know, a'ight?" Jack didn't know how many of the affected were here; frankly, he didn't really care. He's offer to help, even if it was just for Carlos' sake.

"I will, Jack. Thank you." He didn't see any of the lab techs from home here.

"And you're finished up. I would hate to keep you from the ranch - I know how demanding it can be sometimes." And exciting.

"Thank you, Doc," He nodded, standing to offer out a hand.

"M'only gon' say this once, no need t'beat a dead horse. Y'welcome 'round th'ranch whene'er y'want. I know Bobby's old 'nough not t'give a rat's ass what I say, but y'deserve t'know yourself." There. He figured that covered everything he had right to say, about the man's relation with his son.

Carlos laughed. "I'm glad to hear it, Jack. Thank you. And while Bobby might not care, I do like to be respectful when I can help it." Meaning he wasn't going to rub his relationship with Bobby in anyone's face, especially not Jack's or Alma's.

He nodded, shaking the man's hand one more time. "Then we've got an understandin'. You just lemme know when y'get those test results in, could y'kindly?"

"Certainly. I will give you a call myself." He was very much glad that he had gotten on well with Jack. The situation itself was strange enough as it was; there was no need to make it worse.

"Then I'll be lettin' y'get back t'yer work. Take it easy, Doc," Jack nodded in farewell, before letting himself out of the office, heading for the door.
