Entry tags:jaina proudmoore, kael'thas sunstrider

Who: Kael'Thas Sunstrider and Jaina Proudmore
Where: London, starting near Big Ben
When: Backdated to Tuesday evening
Why: They're strange and have much to discuss.
Rating: PG at most? These aren't smutty characters (go figure)

Kael, by birth and station, was a patient man, and he'd spent a few minutes pacing near the base of the building, his arms folded as if he were holding something in. He had a habit of that, as well. Holding things in, holding back. Not fighting for something when he should have. He teleported up to a ledge near the face of one of the clocks, trying to burn some of the energies he felt crackling through him. He still felt a mixture of disappointment and anger at what he'd discovered earlier. The thing he'd become. How he'd lost himself to the addiction. He was thankful he didn't feel that addiction to magic here that his race had developed in their world. Kael took the time to pause from his pacing to look at the moon and stars, the few that were emerging already, and a hint of a smile graced fine lips. Perhaps this place would offer a promise of a future.

"You wouldn't believe half of the things I've seen here already. Although it is at least comforting to know this 'game' we come from is ridiculously popular..."

Jaina shrugged lightly, her jacket the same light blue of her eyes. "It's not a place where there are Lords, although in England they have a simliar system. By right of birth and all. But here we also can be whatever we want. There is a network of refugees, and there is good to be done as well. Even last month, there was a thing... almost like a Titan..." Jaina began almost babbling, her hands going this way and that.

"Try me," he replied. "If I believe the objects I have witnessed on the communication system called the internet, I can believe the things you can tell me. From what I have gathered about my previous occupant's life, he was a politician. The House of Lords, as it seems. So it has been predetermined that I continue to carry on as the head of a group. Part of this Parliament system."

Kael put his fingers to his lips as he listened to her stories. People who needed them, refugees. His own people had been like that once. He didn't turn his head to look at her until her wild gesturing had come close to hitting him. "You look as though you are very much in your element here. Things to study, nose in a book."

"That's part of what's so perfect. I'm the head of a very large library here. It worked out rather nicely. All the new information to learn..."

Jaina always had been more in love with knowledge than anything else.

"There is no Arthas here then?" he asked. "You are free to study at your leisure without his presence...distracting you?" The last part of that coming out as more of an inquiry into a more private affair.

Subtle.

"No. Arthas is not here." Jaina's face clouded over, and she retreated inside herself, saying no more.

"Good," he'd said out loud when he should have just kept it internally. He had half a mind to pursue Jaina here since they were closer in age in this place, physically speaking, but he did not want to distract her from her studies. He was expected to play the role of a politician here, and he knew that would take focus.

Jaina's jaw set firmly, and she looked away. This is always what put her off of him. Insufferable.

Why did she always wind up attracted to arrogant blondes?

Because he was strong, intelligent and just as devout and strong in magics as she was. Which made them a perfect, albeit frightening, pair. "We're speaking less and less the longer we walk. You seem very tense. Does my presence bother you?"

"The fact you imply there is good in him not being here bothers me." She scowled. "Why is he less worthy of redemption than you?"

"That is not the reason I am thrilled he is not here," he said, cutting a glance to her. "I grew weary of him making sport of your affections, and that he found amusement in my lack of the ability of courting you, and so forth."

Jaina snorted.

"If you set store by anything he said in that state, then..." she bit her tongue back, shaking her head. Defending Arthas the Death Knight? What was this world coming to?

Kael'thas' eyes narrowed at her. "I do not find that amusing at all, Jaina. You spent your time with him. I did nothing. Was I supposed to think he'd lie to me? He could be cruel, delighting in holding that over me. He took everything I ever loved away." Kael's normally proud stride faltered, his head lowering a little in a more defeated stance.

Jaina faltered, putting a hand on his arm.

"I am sorry, Kael. I did not mean to defend those actions. I never... I simply can't fathom his logic." If that was any flaw of Jaina's, it was certainly that she believed everyone acted on logic.

Kael paused to look down first at her hand, his bright green eyes following up the length of her arm to her face. Humans were so much more weak-willed than elves. As much as it'd hurt him in the past to let her go, he could feel a waning in his resolve. Especially when she dared to touch him.

Swallowing hard, Kael'Thas took a deep breath and stared at her, the smallest tick at the corner of his eye an indication that anything was going on in his head then. "I am sorry I was not weak enough to give in and court you."

Jaina recoiled, as if stung.

"... goodbye, Kael'thas." The words were far from innocent, but she was absolutely tired of being treated as a distraction.

He looked pained in that moment. "...I need you," he said as he got the impression she'd walk off and leave him standing alone in that spot. He lifted his head slowly, not as a proud Lord of a race, but as a simple human man now, one filled with very mortal emotions.

Her head turned, and she looked at him baffled.

"... you need me?" Probably for directions. Or bus fare. Never for emotional needs.

Definitely not for directions.

"I need you," he repeated, his voice sounding a bit more sure than it did a second ago. His eyes didn't leave hers, but his hand had searched for hes without hesitation, taking it in his own very soft one. Power lay in that palm. Enough to level this city with a thought.

Hers had slight callouses on the pads, much like she had in Azeroth. So much work to be done, and she had never bothered keeping her hands soft. His did have a power that surprised her.

And to be honest, frightened.

"... you're asking a great deal, Kael. Something I'm not sure I'm ready to give yet."

"What do you think I am asking of you, Jaina?" Hiss fingers didn't tighten around hers, though his fingertips ran over the skin idly. He sensed the tension there, the fear. Here he was, almost reduced to begging her to be his.

It was all wrong. He was asking her for what she couldnt' give him in Azeroth, yet somehow magically could give here? Jaina still barely knew the man, short of his transgressions. He still harbored anger at her for 'choosing' Arthas, and it frightened her.

"Kael'thas, I beg time. Please." It wasn't a no.

"All I have is time, Jaina. There is no impending disasters awaiting us here, no imminent danger looming around the corner for us to beat back to save our civilizations." He slowly let go of her hand, getting a feeling that she didn't want him to be so close.

She didn't know what she wanted, to be frank. Jaina just knew above all else, she didn't want to rush. It just wasn't her nature.

"You'd be surprised. We had a rather large... well, he reminded me of the stories of titans, actually.
