Warnings: Bloods and swearing, likely not much else.

Petit had decided that she actually kind of liked Mordhaus. She wouldn't want to live there for any length of time, but she liked the place well enough to come visit at random.

She'd done her warming up and her preparing at home, it had occurred to her, of course, that Teja had more experience sparring with her than she did with him, but that kind of thing had never stopped her before, and it wasn't about to now either.

She actually came in the front door for once, instead of just slipping in from the Backstage like she usually did, smiling her most winning smile at the guards on duty before breezing right past.

Teja had been preparing for the past couple days, and was currently in the training rooms, having shooed out the guards an hour previous, before meditating. He was sitting in the center of the room, crosslegged, eyes closed, and with a sword stabbed into the floor just before him. Around him were several different weapons, bladed, blunt, projectile, and melee.

He knew she was about to arrive, but she was silent, so he wouldn't hear her come in. He knew that he'd have to rely on his other senses to keep himself atop the situation. When he felt himself as being not the only person in the room, one of his hands moved swiftly up to the handle of his sword and he opened his eyes, and smiled a deeply jarring, mostly unnerving smile.

He was good at those.

Petit was too, really, that and she was harder to jar than most. While she did have the powers of super-sneaky on her side, she was saving those for later, when she might actually need them.

Well, aside from her arrival of course, she actually grinned at the fact that she hadn't been able to sneak up on him, brow arching, nodding once already testing the weight of the sword she'd picked up as she emerged.

Most of her swordplay she'd learned from Anne, and that had been far from formal, but it had been effective. She surged forward then, keeping her eyes on his and watching his sword hand only peripherally, hacking upwards with her own, just testing for the moment.

Teja only used the sword to heave himself up from the floor, shuffling back from her slash, already wielding a dagger in one hand. He used his foot's shuffling movements to kick up another weapon - a short sword - and he caught it in his free hand, holding it in a proper stance.

"Good morning, Petit." He said, slashing in a downward and diagonal direction. "Find your way alright?"

	"Easy to find a place you've already been to." She said with a smile, stopping short to swing her own sword up to block, swaying most of her weight back, most people figured that was a telegraph of her next move. Most of those people were right, actually, they just thought she was planning a kick instead of a pivot and jab. (Reply to this)

"Not the way I do it." Was the reply, twisting out of the way of the dagger and right into the sword blow, that was going to bruise and she knew it, but she was still grinning, fingers curling more tightly against her own sword hilt, fighting the reflexive spasm the blow caused.

She lashed out a moment later, another upwards swing, it was where she had the most power, really, aiming for hilt as opposed to blade, intent on disarming him apparently.

	He tutted and eased his hand out of the way, blocking with his dagger, before he brought his sword down to graze along her arm. "You're going easy on me, Assassin. You're not good with swords." His voice was dipped into almost a baritone as he spoke, and pulled the dagger away to make a slice towards her shoulder. (Reply to this)

"Never had a reason to be. Learned on the fly." There was a glower at the initial grazing, rolling her shoulder and upper body back and away at the slice, she might have been growling, just a little, but that smile was still there.

She brought the sword around again in a wide swing before just letting it go, snapping her arm to pop the dagger out of it's sheath on her forearm, catching it easily, "Better with shorter blades."

	Teja sidestepped, never turning his back on her while he kicked up another dagger, catching it as he dropped the short sword. "Me too." His smile was near feral, entirely predatory as he waited for her to attack again. He licked his lips and rolled his shoulders. "C'mon, sweetie." (Reply to this)

There was a laugh then, brow arching, not quite a brow-waggle, but it was close, "At least one of us is having too much fun here."

Petit was not her mother, she'd never mastered the art of fighting with a knife in each hand, one had always suited her fine and it left a hand free for... whatever she might need it for, really.

Just at the moment? She looked a little like a cat getting ready to spring, not tense, really, just ready and intent.

"Is that a dagger in your hand or are you just happy to see me?" He winked as he waited for her to pounce, taking another side step so he was closer to the center of the room than a wall. It only took another few seconds of waiting before he got impatient with her not attacking and threw one of the daggers, before starting towards her with his dagger tucked against his forearm. What he looked like he was about to do was give her a heavy punch to the shoulder. What he was doing in actuality was preparing to slice her from collarbone to opposite rib, moving in a fluid turn that brought him to one knee.

	Which, really, would have worked better for him if she weren't wearing her usual work armor. As it was, she grinned, giving him a rolling little shrug and twisting herself away once he landed, shifting her grasp on her own dagger to swipe at his shoulder as she moved. (Reply to this)

It had been a couple minutes and neither of them had drawn first blood. He felt pretty alright about that, except for the fact that usually, when it was with anyone else, he'd have already had them on one knee. He heaved his weight back as she swiped at his shoulder and kicked towards her stomach to kick her away. He rolled back to his feet and ran towards her, using his weight to try and tackle her down.

	This was more what she was used to, being the small nimble one in what amounted to a brawl. She stood her ground for a moment, just waiting for him to get into range before snapping a kick up at his neck and jaw, using his own momentum against him. (Reply to this)

	He was hit and stumbled back, spitting out the blood that she raised by his biting his tongue. He wiped his mouth with the back of his arm and glared before coming back at her with several slashing movements. The fact he knew she'd start getting more into the game was enough for him to be fine with the bloody taste in his mouth. (Reply to this)

	There was a narrow, knife-edged grin at the fact that she'd gotten first blood, she wasn't going to let it make her cocky however, he was still at least as dangerous as she was. She actually darted towards him when he advanced again, twisting to take a slash across the shoulder so that she could jab at his side, darting in and away again quickly. (Reply to this)

Teja wasn't as quick as he used to be, when he was smaller and lithe, but he still narrowly dodged the jab as he aimed a slash for her wrist - in particular, the tendon that gave her pressure to grasp - and growled. He wasn't used to simple sparring. He was used to fighting to the death, as was she.

This was why she was a proper opponent. A reasonable sparring partner. He kept his eye on her as he stepped back, and circled her, breathing heavily through flared nostrils.

	Her own movement had twisted her arm out of the way, or at least out of vulnerability range, taking the slice across the back of her arm instead, growling and switching hands with the knife all the same, twisting smoothly, keeping him in sight as he circled. She wasn't ready to start cheating yet, but at this rate it wouldn't be much longer at all. (Reply to this)

Cheating was something he was trying to avoid for just then, but he was used to her when she was a little older, a little slower, and a hell of a lot farther off her game. He decided to up the ante. Stomping on the heel of his boot, he let a blade pop out of the toe of his footwear. In the same fluid movement, he stayed within kicking range as he spun, kicking up towards her neck, showing that he'd taken Savate, or some other form of kick boxing. He was quick and graceful, even given his muscular frame. The kick itself was a heavy blow, but if it had been aimed just right, it would have been a deadly slash instead of just a heavy hitting kick towards her jaw.

	She would've cursed, if she hadn't needed to save her breath for other things, dropping herself lower still and darting forward again, forward and up, throwing most of her weight against the leg he was kicking with, really just trying to throw him off balance. (Reply to this)

	Cursing, Teja almost lost his balance, and spun back just in time to bring his leg around, keeping her barreling into it while he stabbed at the soft spot just between her shoulder blade and spinal column. (Reply to this)

There was an almost feline yowl at that, the surprise enough to throw her off balance, but she rallied easily enough, dropping into a shoulder roll and coming up in a crouch, the empty hand resting on the floor, just her fingertips, not so much for balance as for range of movement should she need it.

The knife hand was almost up in front of her again, the blade held back flat against her forearm, brow arching, "That all you've got?"

	Teja smirked - a wide, toothy, smug thing - and shook his head, regaining stability by way of standing in an offensive pose, shoulders down, head lifted to watch her through his hair as his knees bent just slightly, as if ready to spring into the rafters, or up above her. 	"Just getting warmed up." Was the somewhat breathless, and totally amused, reply, brow still arched. She was re-calculating him, really, re-evaluating, watching him but keeping tabs on everything else, glad that the family paranoia came in handy for something at least. (Reply to this)

	He cricked his neck and rolled his shoulders while she gave him another once over. He knew she was reconstituting her understanding of him and he let it be done. "Do you need a few seconds? Drink of water before I get another blade in you?" His tone was teasing and thickly smug. (Reply to this)

	"That's what you think." Teja repositioned the dagger in his hand, blade out, pulling another out of its sheath on his hip and held it against his wrist. She felt no real need to tell him that that first jab had been a lucky shot, getting in between the segments of armor, somehow she figured he probably knew it already.

There was another predatory smile as she surged forward again, forward and then through, blipping into the Backstage and out again, once she was past him, lashing back with the blade hand, a stab and rip if he didn't catch on.

	Teja caught on, but too late, and he growled loud as his back was pierced, tightening his grip on both daggers as he twisted around to bring one down towards her in a heavy handed slam down, between her armor and her neck. The name wasn't exactly common knowledge, but it also wasn't uncommon enough to give her pause, chances were good that she hadn't actually heard it, already on high alert once more, swinging her arm up to block his, he was stronger than she was, sure, but she just needed enough leverage to twist herself out of the way, huffing as she caught the blow along her shoulder and arm instead of anywhere potentially vital.

It was Teja's job to know everything about everyone who was employed under retainer for Dethklok, and Petit was no exception. He had practically memorized her file, and had a great deal of otherwise unwritten knowledge of her skills.

He stepped back from her, only a couple steps, before Teja growled, demanded, low and dark, in a tone with an unnatural amount of bass for his usual timbre, "Licentia vestri vox secundum quod fio inops." The words reverberated as he repeated them three times, cutting his own palm and pouring blood onto one of the many designs on the floor below them, and soon, Petit would feel... human. Normal. His words had temporarily drained her powers.

He grinned a deadly grin and he came towards her with a tight grip around his dagger, his hand still bloody. "Now try to pull that shit."

	Really she wouldn't have noticed except for the fact that her hair went still. There was a growl at that, her own smile gone dangerous once more, "You really think that's going to slow me down?" 	But what about springing? Was he prepared for upward movement? And more than that, was he prepared to be used as a springboard? Because that's what she did, launching herself up and over, using his shoulder as balance for a moment, and to give him a shove, before landing lightly once more, falling back on her earliest training.
