Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:chelis hargrove, jack twist

Who: Jack and Chel
Where: Wherever he said to meet him, course.
When: Ah some time this evening.
Warnings: Underage drinking (Jack doesn't know either so shhh. She turns 21 in a couple weeks!), probably swearing.

After indeed changing into some warmer clothing and leaving her Dad a note that she would be back some time probably the next day (no sense in drinking and hurrying back, ow, the agony) Chel hopped a portkey to end up about a block away from the address Jack had given her. She hurried down the street and opened the door, shoving the paper she had scribbled it on into her pocket as she glanced around. Her initial thought was to find a guy in a cowboy hat, she soon found she'd have to pick him out of a crowd. She didn't mind terribly tho, and she soon recognized his features, walking over with a friendly smile and a light skip in her step. "It's nice to finally meet you in person, Jack Twist." No sense in some lame and somewhat whitty little line to start off with.

That smile was worth it, and she nodded. "Whatever you see fit, Jack. So uh. Any chance I can get down, or are you holding me captive on your horse now that I'm all weak and vulnerable?"

"How else y'think I get hired help 'round here?" He went for the joke, leaning over to tie off Maddox's reins in the gate, before walking to Sara and helping her down.

"Well jeez, if you need some help just ask." She laughed a little, grabbing his forearms when he came over to ease herself down as much on her own as she could. "Thank you." She said softly. "This has been. . quite the exciting day."

Jack nodded a little bit, letting her down carefully and holding on a second longer than necessary. Then, deciding she deserved it, he bent down to place a friendly kiss on her forehead, smiling all the while.

"I should the the one thanking you, Chel. For everything,"

Her mouth lifted into a big grin and she stood up on tiptoe on her good foot, planting a smiliar kiss to his cheek. "Let's call it a draw, hmm? We could stand here and argue until my leg falls off."

"Fair 'nough. Y'wanna go have a seat, whiel I get 'em unsaddled?" The horses were both getting uneasy, shifting from foot to foot.

She nodded, limping off to find somewhere to sit not far from where, plopping down she rolled her left pantleg of her jeans up, lightly prodding the swollen ankle, hissing softly in pain, she quickly withdrew her fingers, figuring it wasn't the greatest thing to do to it.

It only took him a couple minutes, before he was sauntering back toward her, small smile still on his face.

"Alright, let's get y'back inside, get that taken care of, yeah?" He offer her his hand again, in case she wanted help walking in.

She nodded, taking his hand mostly to pull herself to her. . foot. And once she was sure of her balance she followed him to the direction of 'in', she'd never been so excited to get some ice put onto a swollen body part-well, ok, that might be a lie actually, but that had nothing to do with pain.

Jack led her back into the house, sticking close by to make sure she was okay on her feet. He helped her up the steps through the door, settling her down at the table.

"Y'want me t'get y'a drink? I think I still owe'ya one."

"At least she ain't green," Ennis remarked from where he stood leaning against the kitchen doorway. He'd slithered up, silent as ever, when he'd heard the commotion of the two of them coming in.

Chelis looked up at him, her stomach growing heavy in her body as she swallowed, instantly regretting not just taking a portkey back. She really didn't want Jack to get in trouble and despite being the spitfire she was, she didn't even have the nerve to say anything to him.

She just sat there, hands on the knee of her injured leg, staring at Ennis where he stood.

"Don' be like that, Ennis. Chelsea-" He assumed she'd prefer that name, considering it's the one she called herself. "S'Ennis. Ennis, s'Chelsea- new friend'a mine. Where's y'manners, cowboy?"

"Lef'em inna barn." Ennis tipped his head to Chelis. "Pleasure, ma'am." If he'd had his hat, he would have held it over his chest.

"Pleasure's all mine, Ennis." She swallowed, feeling suddenly very defensive. "Jack um, well I asked Jack to give me a lesson on the horse, I'd never been on one. . .and well, Sara didn't like me much, I guess." It was mostly true.

Jack sighed a little as he offered her the bag of ice he'd made. "Sh'spooked, made Chel take a dive. Dunno what got inna her. Gave her an' Maddox a workout, though. Th'all set."

Ennis grunted, and went out of his way to go around Jack to get a beer out of the fridge. He held a bottle up, toward Chel. He said nothing, but the offer was there if she wanted it.

She decided mentioning she'd had a drink with Jack was a bad, bad idea. So she nodded, leaning with her hand outstretched to take the bottle, she could use the alcohol with the pain in her foot driving her crazy. "Thanks."

Rolling his eyes a little, Jack propped himself against the counter, settling in to let Chel finish her beer. This was likely going to be uncomfortable, but he still couldn't bring himself to usher her out of the house.

"I'll be lettin' y'two get back t'whatever 'twas you was doin'." Ennis tipped his head toward Chel. "Nice t'meet ya, in person."
