Ganieda was sitting on a hill, awaiting her brother. It had been a couple of weeks since their last lessons, and it was time for more. There was no one else who was quite so successful at helping her reach her magic and control it as Merlin was, though Sonya came in a close second.

Her magic is much like her brother's, though, and that helps. It feels very important to her to learn more control and skill--the amount of fire she'd summoned on the night of the exorcism concerned and frightened her.

She's dressed much how she would have been dressed at home. Sometimes, she likes to be comfortable, and dressing in flowing garments with a mantle around her shoulders makes her feel even more open to learning and controlling her powers.

	He grinned at her and nodded. "To start, think of how you cook a chicken. You heat it in an oven, putting heat all around it. You cook it, and you push that heat inside it to do so." Ganieda nodded.

"Well, fire is easy for me, but might burn the chicken before it actually cooks. I tend to overdo it a bit." She frowned, thinking.

She held her hands up and murmured some words to focus, and tried to send heat, but not fire, to the chicken. It was...rather hard to maintain an even temperature and some bits came out...far more done than others.

"Oh, dear."

Merlin smiled and floated the chicken aside. Another appeared in it's place.

"Control, and slow application of the heat is important. Meat burns if heat comes too quickly. You must concentrate and apply the heat slowly."

He gently stroked her hair.

"Think of it as water in a pail and a garden. You must apply only so much water at a time or you flood the garden. The same is true here."

She smiled up at him as he stroked her hair. "I shall try again."

It was hard for her to control, and by the end her body shook with the effort of it. She tried to think of how her oven heated up, how the coils went from black to red gradually, of a sunrise, gradually warming up the day.

It took several times for the chicken to come out properly cooked.

"Oh...finally," she said, sighing in relief.

	He hugged her gently as she failed, and cheered her on when she won. "Bravo! Well done, my dear." With a word, chairs sprang into being, and the chicken was sliced and plates appeared, as did cold beer, and salad, and other such things. "Sit and eat the fruits of your labor." 	Merlin laughed and did the same, drinking a long draught. He settled next to her. "In various slaughter house factories, scheduled to be turned to soup. With the application of a few herbs and some magic, they will feed some who have nothing." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Ganieda smiled at that. "So you have found a way to make my lessons feed the hungry as well. You think of everything." She wanted to be the same way, when she was older and had decided what she really wanted to do. She wanted to be helpful and make a difference. She smiles sheepishly. "Have you? Would no one give you hospitality in this world?"

She can't imagine it, but then, the time that she lived in was not so very hospitable to those in need either.

Ganieda blushes. "Well...It has rather taken me by surprise."

Especially when the daydreaming gets out of hand. It took a moment or two to get the lights from pink back to the normal white color...

	"But I would think you would be even more honored back home," she says. It makes little sense. She blushes. "Oh, you'll be seeing much more of him. I plan on showing him Avalon soon." He smiled softly at her.

"Good. He is a good man."

He grinned at her, then.

"Oh, spells of sheathing, for protection, and a spell that allows one to share pleasure, and another that allows you to give pleasure without feeling it yourself..."

He waved a hand.

"Spells like that."
