Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:malakai chmelyk, rurik markov

Who: Malakai Chmelyk (again) and Rurik Markov
What: Kai's week gets even worse, and he seeks comfort in familiarity.
When/Where: Tonight, Rurik's place in France
Warnings: Vampirism, discussion of past drama, possibly sex. Otherwords, Yes.

As he expected, Malakai had a difficult time making his journey straight to Paris, given the amount of mayhem and blood riddling the streets. For once, he wasn't the one causing it, and this was both strange and almost lamentable to the old vampire. Still, he had other things on his mind, above and beyond the sudden outbreak of chaos, and he focused his thoughts on reaching his old friend, and working through the events of the week.

A son. He had a son. The dreams had been troubling enough, but to see that man, from them, describe them so perfectly. He was dhampir. He never knew his father. It was all too much of a coincidence, and so it couldn't be a coincidence.

As he landed in Paris off the portkey, his mind was drawn from its thoughts by the familiar stench of dog, and it was sobering enough to have him running swiftly to Rurik's door. He let himself in, for once thankful for the ability to do so, before shutting and locking the door behind him.

"Rurik, old friend. Please tell me you're not dog-food," He was never one for conventional greetings. To do so would only betray the worry already much too evident, on his face.

"And yet I just..." He shook his head. "I suppose I shall just take it as it comes. I cannot... upset myself so, over this. Nothing will come of it, anyhow," Whether Kai thought that revelation was a good thing or not remained to be seen.

Sniffing the air, he moved his head over his shoulder. "Your coffee is ready, darling,"

"Perhaps I might keep an eye on him for a few days?" Rurik suggested. "I could trail him, and after a few day's time, you could decide if you wish to speak to him." It seemed reasonable to Rurik. He understood Kai's hesitation, at the same time thinking it foolish.

It was enough to have Malakai making a face, shaking his head more obviously. "No, no. That's- I'm really being that ridiculous about this all, aren't I?" He scoffed a dry laugh, running a hand through his hair.

"I just... do not know what to do. How to start. Or if it will even help the dreams, to meet him."

Rurik patted Kai's thigh and rose to head to the kitchen to prepare a cup of coffee. He was away only a few minutes, just long enough to pour the coffee and fix it to his liking. He returned with the steaming mug.

"If the dreams are connected to him, Kai, I don't know that you have much choice. You know how it is with dreams. They rarely flitter away unless or until you hear what they say and heed the warnings within."

His lips pursed at that, again. "That is what I fear, darling. The dreams I have... they are fires. Terrible, terrible fires. Everyone in the area is dying, I know of it, I can hear them. Except for him. I don't know if he is dead already, or if he lives." Malakai had no real reason to fear fire; it wasn't any more dangerous to him dead, than it was alive. But it was one of those qualms he never quite got over, and he wasn't sure he could handle the prospect of a blaze, even for his son.

"The fire must be connected to him, or he to the fire." Rurik sipped his coffee, holding the mug in both hands. The caffeine, if Kai were to drink from him, would give Kai an extra boost.

Rurik went silent, lost in thought for a moment. He looked back to Kai. "How old is he, precisely? You said he is more than a century, but do you have an exact number?"

Malakai shook his head, seeming thoughtful. "Nearly one hundred thirty, was the closest he said. And how am I to know, Rurik? I don't even know the man's last name," Ilya, he'd said, was his first. He'd never met a man named Ilya, at least not of his memory.

Rurik nodded. "One hundred thirty takes us back to the 1880's." Rurik made a thoughtful face. "Wasn't the Chicago Fire in the 1880s?" It was a long shot, but it was a fire. "And you were in the states, for a time, as I recall, about that time, no?" He was grasping at straws. "There was the Romanian woman, that I recall clearly. The gypsy woman."

He moved to his computer, turning on the machine. It hummed and whirred to life. "I haven't thought of her for many moons. But it fits, Kai."

He smiled ruefully as Rurik tried to remind him of 'the gypsy woman' from over a century ago, as if he would actually recall such a thing, himself. Malakai was lucky to remember as much of that history as he did, let alone a tryst with some mortal woman.

And yet... "No, you're right. There was a fire... was it Chicago? I had a summons to the Council, for some reason or other," Possibly, to do with the woman? He didn't remember, "I must never have made it, there. This is foolish, Rurik, you know I've little recollection, that far back," His mind came into focus around the time of the second world war- the atrocities weren't only humbling for the humans involved, and the sight of such terror on a large scale had helped Kai to choose to live a better life.

"Just as you know I've a great interest in the past, old friend." Rurik turned his computer so Kai could see the screen. "Look at this, now. A Romanian woman and her newborn son were rescued from the ashes of a church lost to the fires, Kai. That has to be them."

Malakai slid closer, looking the page over- it took him longer to decypher English, even after centuries, but he managed to read the article, frowning even more.

"Ilya Monroe," He nodded once, a reluctant validation. "I-" A hand moved up to scrub over his face. "I really cannot believe this, lover,"

"It's the proof you needed." Rurik nodded. For good or for bad, now, the mysterious Ilya was definitely Kai's son. There was no longer any doubt at all in Rurik's mind.

He set the computer aside, and shifted, moving to lay a hand on Kai's thigh. "Are you all right, then, lover?" he used the same term of endearment Kai had used. He was getting more comfortable with the idea, in general terms, with Kai.

Rather than speak, Kai stood, moving himself over towards the window. He wasn't alright. He wanted to pace, to throw something, to feed, to fuck. His human self was defying his vampire urges, thanks to the knowledge of his child, but the idea of it only frustrated him and fuelled the beast. It was a truly vicious cycle, and the only thing he was sure of, was that he didn't want to take it out on his old friend.

"No," he summed up the tension in his posture with the one syllable, looking back to give Rurik a helpless, yet almost disgusted look.

Rurik was up and at Kai's side within moments. He slid close to Kai, pressing to him from behind. He knew Kai would resist, even after so many years, Rurik still trusted the vampire more than Kai trusted himself.

"I am here for you, Kai. I offer what you need. You only need to take it."

As ever, Kai turned back to Rurik, giving him a reproachful look. He hated putting the witch in this position. At first, it had been no question, he felt it Rurik's place to take his anger, his hunger, as payment for Kai's help. But they were far past that point, to where the vampire appreciated the other as an equal, a lover, not just... some bleeder he could use.

Still, the resistence was momentary, just enough time to seem awkward in the pause, before Kai slipped around in Rurik's arms, face pressed to his neck. He simply kissed there at first, appreciative, humbled, before he allowed himself to take a bite and start the feed.

Having Kai feed from him was familiar, and reassuring in its own way, to Rurik. His strength was such that he could withstand the blood loss, even on a regular basis. He had no concern for his health, as it were, if Kai went too far, and past the point of Rurik fighting him off, so be it. Rurik doubted that would happen, in any case, and trusted Kai fully.

As the blood flowed from his veins, throbbing mercilessly at the point where Kai suckled, Rurik let his mind drift to recall the softness of Kai's touch in other intimate positions. He still struggled with the concept, his sexuality having been effectively beaten out of him in his younger years, but again, with Kai, the trust was unyeilding.

He found his hand had moved to gently caress the curve of Kai's hip, suggestive of his thoughts.

The hand at his hip made him slow, Kai still used to the touch being a warning, rather than an intimate thing. When he came back to himself enough to realize what the touch meant, he sighed softly into Rurik's skin, lapping at the wound to slow the flow of blood even further. He continued to drink just for the feel of it, as his hands made their way back to Rurik's body, gentle caresses to hsi shoulders and back. Hands drifted lower as the vampire finished his feed, before he was left kissing the wounds to get them closed, one hand resting on Rurik's thigh.

He would wait for what Rurik decided, to move any further. He still worried too much for the man's stability, to initiate the contact.

"Don't be shy, darling," Rurik murmured. He knew Kai's hesitance was for Rurik's benefit, and he appreciated the gesture. Still, he knew what he wanted, and he trusted Kai to give it to him. He shifted under the vampire's hands, moving in to kiss his lips, tasting the metallic aftertaste of his own blood in the other's mouth.

Groaning a little at Rurik's boldness (at least, as far as he was concerned), he let his hand move upward, resting with a bit of pressure over his groin. He pressed into the kiss, deepening it some.

Pulling it away when he felt Rurik needed air, he let his hand rub slightly over the growing bulge, giving a soft smile. "What do you want, lover?"

"I want you not to be afraid to touch me, darling." Rurik replied, his voice soft and soothing. "I want you to take me as you would take a lover."

Malakai was not prone to emotion, but he found his chest a bit tighter at the request, a strange mix of relief for the permission, and apprehension for what he was about to do. He knew he shouldn't be so emotionally invested in the witch, but after so long, it was impossible not to be.

Even so, he trusted Rurik to stop him if things got out of hand, and pulled back enough to stand, offering him his hand. "Come to bed with me," There was no reason to wrangle themselves onto the couch, when there was a perfectly comfortable bed nearby.

He used the hold on the man's hand to pull him up for another kiss, hot and hard, before leading him down the hall to the bedroom. Walking him over to the bed, he gestured for him to sit, standing between his legs and craning down for more kisses, now to the jaw and ear. As he did so, he fingered the buttons on his own shirt, pulling the fabric off himself. He wanted the gesture of being the first undressed, the first exposed; the pair were more than familiar with each other's nude bodies, but this felt different, more important. He would respect that.

Rurik sat, which helped him feel more secure than vulnerable. He smiled at Kai, appreciating the rain of kisses. He leaned back, watching the other undress.

He felt his arousal grow. He shifted, but made no move to undress himself. he didn't want to interrupt Kai. He didn't quite realise Kai's reasoning, to be the first exposed, but he felt it important to let Kai undress before he did so.

Malakai slid off his pants, with just the slightest hint of showmanship, that he couldn't help. Once he was undressed, he closed the space between himself and Rurik again, hands gently gliding over his clothes, as he carefully peeled them away.
