Malakai Chmelyk // 'Volos' ([info]volos) wrote in [info]utr_logs,

Entry tags:malakai chmelyk

Who: Malakai Chmelyk and Jack Sparrow
What: Meetings, old war stories, and other things
When/Where: Tonight ('before nightfall'), the outskirts of London at Jack and Bill's place.
Warnings: Two slightly crazed vampires start telling tales- likely PG-13 or so.

It did take Malakai the time he warned it might, to find the place, but he got there finally, sauntering up to the door and shifting the bag in his arms, so he could give a knock. He had to wait for a formal invitation to let himself in, one of the quirks of his kind. So, he stood, and waited.

There was a nosewrinkle at the mention of media, "S'been movies made 'bout me. And Bill f'that matter, though he's got th'worse end of it than I do." He shook his head, almost pouting, "Much preferred the penny dreadfuls, at least they knew how to check their facts."

A pause, thinking about that and sipping his drink, "'Course, they didn't use them any more than th'movie people did, but at least they checked." There was a small smile that followed, "And Bill'll be th'first to tell you that I'm notoriously difficult to bore. I like stories."

"Movies, you say?" That seemed to catch him off guard. "Like what?" Still, his curiousity didn't stop him from pushing on- he had started hitting the vodka long before he met with Jack (also knowing its ability to stave off Hunger), and his thoughts were less than linear.

"There weren't many facts to be had about my House, at least not publicly. Ours was always a more secretive Court, thanks to the land we thrived in." Russia, if his accent was any indication. "It led to the stories being even more outlandish, and yet also much closer to truth," He would be the first to admit, that most of his House were of the savage, animalistic thread. He had been himself, and enjoyed it, until society (and his witch) forced him to be otherwise.

"Movies 'bout my being a pirate. 'course they cut out most of the battles, and the sacking and th'pillaging, and made Bill into some sort've half-rotten waterlogged ghost of a man. Don't even look like him."

He shook his head, "Besides that they left out the most important part. Th'fact that I'm a bloody vampire. Don't know who was asleep at th'switch for that one. S'not like I ever worked all that hard to make a secret of it, s'just that most people didn't believe it when I told them."

Malakai nodded his understanding at the last. "Act anything like a half-decent man, and of course you must be a man. Not a monster, as we're usually painted, and like they-" Here, humans, "Have a tendency to be, anyhow." He had actually been in the habit of giving himself sunburn, for the benefit of the masses, just to make them believe. It was a sad state of affairs, overall. "Almost makes me wish the Council had voted against the whole rotten ordeal. Then again, it's not like we could leave the dogs to take over when the governments collapsed. They were downright cruel, to most." Human and vampire alike.

He nodded at that, looking distant for a moment, but he shook himself out of it easily enough, the small smile returning, "And s'not as if they were going to leave all the bloody bits in when it's supposed to be a family movie."

A wholly eloquent shrug that said in and of itself exactly what he thought of 'family' entertainment, "And back then..." He shook his head, "Was always a surprise, most'd heard that I was a mite more bloodthirsty than most, but when th'humans are still better at it? Means there's somethin' wrong all 'round."

His glass was raised slightly to toast that, before he took another drink. "Even at my most vile, I openly admit to being something of a follower of the Romanov dynasty. And yet, as always, popular opinion supercedes moral obligation." A shrug of his own, not entirely unlike Jack's, as he looked around.

"Somehow, though, I have the sense that this place doesn't quite follow the same rules. I've yet to really be accosted, for the simple fact of being," Something he couldn't say for the same period of time, in his home.

"Quite a feelin' innit?" The smile had gone sly once more, brow arching, "Freeing. Like y'could set th'world on fire just to watch it burn and nobody'd be th'wiser for it." Jack had, apparently, given this some consideration once or twice.

He shrugged again, sitting back, making himself comfortable, "Suppose s'just a way they protect themselves from realizin' how wholly messed up th'world really is."

"It's not without its charms," His tone was almost wistful- as much as a centuries-old vampire could still be considered such. "Unfortunately, it seems my conscience was all too quick for me, and accompanied me here," Much like Jack, it seemed- at least in the sense that he had Bill, as Malakai himself had Rurik. Someone to keep them grounded, when the things didn't seem worth it.

The last made his smile mirror Jack's to an eerie degree, as he nodded. "Even in my world, there were those who simply refused to believe. We had been on the way towards publicity for decades, and still some believed it was all a large hoax. Amazing, what the mind will simply ignore, to make itself more comfortable," His face went a little dark at that, but he hid it behind a drink.

Jack caught onto the meaning of the conscience quite quickly, really, smiling and nodding, "Aye, mine was here before I was. Funny thing, that."

He shook his head, "Never ceases t'amaze me just how good they are at bein' oblivious. If they put that much effort into..." A pause, thinking about that, the gears in his head very nearly audible, "Well, anythin', they'd've solved a lot've their problems already."

Malakai's own smile turned a bit more sad. "I'd rather thought I'd gotten rid of mine altogether, but it seems I wasn't quite done paying for past crimes. Imagine that,"

"Always the past of least resistence, that I've seen. Politics itself, a shining example of how a bright smile and a wave of a hand can justify the death of thousands, as 'justice'," He was obviously still bitter about his own stint as a politician, the battle between his human half, and his vampire mind becoming more and more prevalent.

He nodded at that again, "Aye. S'why I tend to stay away from the politicians. They're the ones most likely to believe what I say. Sad state of affairs that is innit?" He shook his head then, smile tilting once more, "S'amazing innit? Wonder if this's what Bill felt like having a twin."

Malakai was about to comment on the talk of politicians, before he saw the lean of Jack's smile.

That, he knew well. It was mirrored, to a slight degree, on Kai's face.

"I believe he mentioned something to that end, once. I do have to say, the likeness is remarkable," Besides for a few obvious differences, of course, but the overall picture was... interesting, to say the least.

He shook his head, "Think there were more with th'same face before, seems that some've 'em have vanished though. Happens around here."

The wry smile was back, "S'a good thing it isn't any more of a resemblance, we'd be liable to get in trouble that way."

"Trouble how?" His brow arched momentarily, betraying his interest as well as possibly an idea or two of his own. This was much more Malakai's speed- his kind were much more prone to action, or at the very least planning, than idle speech.

And by the look on Jack's face, this was going to be plenty interesting, indeed.

Jack was good at 'interesting' in the flavor of 'may you live in interesting times' being a curse.

He shrugged, taking an almost cautious sip of his drink, "Well, what sort've things did you always tell yourself you'd do if y'had an evil twin?"

Good place to start at least.

"Depends on which of us would like to take the part of 'evil', I suppose," He never really considered himself some paragon of virtue. He'd rather expeected, sometimes, that he was in fact some kinder, gentler soul's evil twin, and he never really knew it.

"There is, of course, the bait and switch, however at least on my end, the liklihood of you being accosted by the witch when found out is rather high. And quite painful, if memory serves," He shuddered a little exaggeratedly, to make the point, as he took another drink. He would be close to running out, at this rate, but the Hunger was sated, at least for now, so he would go back to the vodka, when he was dry.

He nodded, "That's th'easy part. Pirates are worse than... well, just 'bout anything, really."

The smile was amused at that point, shaking his head, "But I don' think anyone we know'd actually fall for it. Didn't take Free long at all, did it?"

Malakai tilted his head to the side, unsure whether he should really relent or not. "I suppose that's true. I wouldn't know, firsthand."

That comment made him narrow his eyes, shifting in his seat. "I wasn't trying to deceive her. I have a feeling that wouldn't go over well at all. I imagine, with minds such as ours- and no small amount of liquor- we could pull something off.

He nodded, "There is that, and I was right there as well." He shrugged, "Give it a while to percolate and I'm sure we'll come up with something, aye."

He hadn't ever thought of things that he'd do if he had a twin, never really came up before.

"Useful information to be had, at least. Could be great for parties," If Malakai was ever prone to throw one himself, which he hadn't been in quite some time. At least, not a legitimate party- one used for something besides the acquisition of blood.

Thinking of blood, Malakai shot the rest of his drink, sighing as it slid down his throat, even as he reached for his vodka, to pour another glass. The bloodrum was alright, but he wouldn't take more than offered. It was a kindness enough, to even know it existed.

He nodded at that, "Could be quite entertaining, that." Jack had never been much for parties either, except weddings, he loved those.

He tilted his head, squinting ceilingward a moment, "Could always make people think they're drunker than they are, seeing double."

Malakai gave a little smile, looking Jack over. "I'm not quite certain I could pull off your... distinctive personal style, friend," The tattoos and hair, for one. Still, it was an interesting idea.
