Merlin was angry. His sister was nearing a dangerous point in her life, and he could not yet take a hand, other than warning her, counseling her.

It was a turning point, a defining moment for her, and he could not step in until she had taken the first step, made the first choice. Until then, he could not, or she would forever look to him for her path, and be less than human.

He would not do that for her, and thus, he bit his tongue and ground his teeth, and growled, and the clouds over Siberia spit out record hailstorms. He paced, and the plains of Africa rumbled with earthquakes. He cursed, and the prize black roses owned by many turned a blood red, wet, as if from paint.

Merlin finally looked to the clock, and reigned in his anger, reigned in his worry, and whistled a spell. This one was an old one, from his youth, that he had used to fascinate Arthur, captivate Nimue, and aid him in times of need.

From far off, from a place between now and then, here and there, a whinny, and a neigh answered his whistle, and hoofbeats sounded.

They rang across the pavement as he stood outside his work, and they grew louder.

People looked around for the source, but it was not until they galloped into the parking lot that they came into view. Two white horses, with spans larger than any earthly steeds, bearing no saddles but simple gentle leads and blankets, galloped into view.

They came to rest before him and bowed their heads, pawing the ground.

he patted their necks as he greeted them, and grinned.

"Ho, Daedalus! Ho, Armidadles! it has been long and away since I last summoned thee and now again, I have need! I need your swift ride, and your gentle aide, for we go to my sister's side today!"

They nodded, and nickered, and he swung onto the back of Daedalus.

"Then ho and away!"

They galloped and sped away the miles, and before long, he was reigning them in before Ganieda's home, and leaping from their backs.

"Stay and guard, gentle friends."

They whinnied again and he hurried to her door, to knock, and bring her out of this place.
