Who: Tony and Remy
What: Working at the hospital together whilst Cuddy and everyone else is away
When: Today
Where: Kent Memorial
Warnings: Dunno, maybe none :P

The next patient on Remy's list was someone who had recently had one of the arc reactors put into his body several weeks ago. It was time for another check up, to take some of the stitches out and to make sure that everything was going properly. She could do most of that herself, but in order to make sure the actual reactor was functioning, she had to bring in her husband. After all, he was the one that built everything.

She decided to wait for him to join her in the back where all of the curtains were lined up sectioning off each 'room' from the other. Might as well do it all at once so the poor guy wasn't waiting. She had just seen him a second ago, figuring he was washing up around the corner.

Sometimes Tony was fine when it came to the hospital, others not so much. It reminded him of his surgeries, his pain, his death. He hated being reminded of his own mortality and the hospital was a constant reminder of that. But then he'd watched his wife working, saving lives and helping all of those people, and any discomfort or fear of this place dissipated in moments. Nothing made him prouder than to see her hard at work.

Once he's washed up and sterilized his hands well, he came back around to her and their awaiting patient. He was wearing scrubs of his own, just because this was supposed to be a sterile environment and one could never tell with these kinds of things. Surgeries were very sensitive. He had something in his hand that looked like an iPhone only a little larger, and he'd began to punch on its touch screen to bring up schematics and data he'd need to verify during the examination.

Remy smiled at him when he came around the corner, in her own set of scrubs and then grabbed up the chart from the front of the room and then opened the door to go inside. "Hi Mr. Sobchak, how are you feeling?" she asked the man who was seated on the table in front of them.

The man gave her a nervous smile, "Hello Dr. Stark, Mr. Stark.. I'm feeling good.. better.. still feeling a little stiff though.."

She nodded at him, "Yeah that's to be expected. You should start feeling better by the end of the week. So shall we get all of this over with?" she asked, grabbing up her stethoscope to listen to his heart and then take his temperature and blood pressure and all of the other normal stuff to make sure he was as good as he said.

Tony greeted Mr. Sobchak with a firm handshake when he'd come in, and in seeing the familiar glow, was confident that everything was most likely in working order. Funny how that light had become a comfort to him for the time he'd had it in his own chest. But this man's was different. Tony's functioned as an electromagnet whereas this model had more regulatory functions, similar to a pacemaker and didn't put out as much energy as the original arc reactor.

After punching in a few more things on his little touch screen, Tony made sure to stand to the side as Remy did her part of the work, head tilted as he observed. "If you experience soreness around the outer wall, Vitamin E or some sort of Ben Gay cooling ointment will help with that," he said as he made a circular motion to the area on his own chest.

After getting him to breathe in and out and then put the cuff around him to take his blood pressure, and then take his temperature, she smiled a bit. "Everything's good so far.. so we can just take out the stitches.. bandage you up and run a couple of tests.. then you're good to go.. I'll go get the stuff, you two... do whatever it is you boys do when women aren't around.." she smirked and left the room.

Mr. Sobchak looked relieved that everything was going fine so far. "Thanks.. for everything.. you and your wife.."

Tony smiled as she left to go fetch everything else she needed, then stepped over to Mr. Sobchak with the device in his hand and held it up the the reactor. "You're welcome," he said, the corner of his mouth curling into a half smile. "If it wasn't for her, I would still have mine."

It made a few little beeping noises as it did its thing then Tony pulled it back to analyze the data on the screen. "Electrical output is registering correctly. I'm going to need to take it out for a minute just to check for plasmic discharge."

"I...what?" giving Tony a strange look.

"Takes two seconds. Unbutton you shirt," Tony said as he put the device in his pocket and grabbed a pair of latex gloves and put them on. He waited for Mr. Sobchak to unbutton his shirt before he started to twist and unlock the arc reactor to lift it up out of the socket.

In the other room, Remy got the kit to take out the stitches and then came back into the room. She blinked a little when she saw the guy taking off his shirt, "Plasmic discharge?" she asked, because apparently she knew what he was doing. She went and got out the scissors and the forceps and then grabbed the stool and a tray.

"I can wait... go ahead.." she smiled some and sat down, writing down in the chart while she waited.

His eyes were squinting as he ran his fingers around the inside edge of the socket wall, "Checking but I don't see any. Very good sign. It probably isn't producing enough energy to cause it." He put the reactor back in place and twisted it where it locked with a click. "So far, everything appears to be working." He popped off the gloves and tossed them in the biohazard waste bin.

"You're up, dear," he said as he squirt some sanitizer into his hands from a nearby dispenser.

"Good, good.." she scribbled that down in her notes too on the chart, and then slid the stool over towards him, "Feeling okay?" she asked the man just to make sure that he was indeed all right. Mr. Sobchak nodded his head, "Yeah.. feeling a little.. light headed though.."

She nodded, "It's okay.. just lie down for me.. just breathe... I've got to clean these up first.. I promise it won't hurt.." she went ahead and took off the bandage where they had cut in to put the reactor in, and then went to clean it carefully.

The medical part of this was definitely not his area of expertise, and so Tony had no answer for the lightheaded feeling he was experiencing. Maybe a slight drop in his blood pressure. And being curious about something new, Tony did what he usually did and observed closely, scooting his chair nearby so he could make notes on the reactor in the patient file as she took out the stitches.

Maybe this was where the future of Stark Industries lay. All this medical technology. He just worried about the wrong people getting hold of it. Thankfully, things stayed quiet here for the most part.

Sometimes it happened when people got nervous, or maybe his blood sugar was low. "When was the last time you ate?" she asked as she got out the scissors. He looked up at her, "Um.. this morning at breakfast?" he offered. She hmd a bit, "Tony... when you're done could you run to the lounge and grab like.. a cookie or some orange juice or something?" she asked her husband, and smiled.

While he hopefully went and got him something to eat, she went and got the stitches snipped and then carefully removed them as gently as she could. "It might feel weird but it shouldn't hurt.. looks good though, no bleeding."

He'd been watching her take the stitches out when she'd asked him to run to the doctor's lounge, where he nodded and went to grab something for the patient. He was surprised he didn't suffer from low blood sugar with the eating habits he had at times, but then again since coming here, he'd had her to take care of him, made sure he ate and that sort of thing. He came back shortly with a package of those Tollhouse mini cookies and a Minute Maid bottled orange juice for Mr. Sobchak to have since she was finished taking out his stitches. Tony usually didn't say much during these examinations because this just wasn't his gig, plus he always ended up so mesmerized by what Remy did, he couldn't help but let her have the limelight.

When Tony came back she was cleaning him up again, and making sure everything was fine. Since it was, she told him to sit up and eat the cookies and take the juice. "You're looking just fine.. everything's running smoothly.. so we don't need to see you for another month.. just call if you need anything at all, or come in okay?"

The man took the food and the juice from Tony, thanking him and nodding. "Thanks doc.. both of you.." he looked quite appreciative for what they did. She shook his hand and then headed out of the room so he could put his shirt back on and head home.

"Not a problem. If you think it's giving you problems, just call the hospital and they'll relay any message to me." He took the man's hand and shook it after Remy, the gathered up his work and followed right behind her out of the exam room. Tony always felt proud on a job well done when one of his creations proved to save a life.

They headed back to the office where Tony started punching on the touch screen, sending the data he'd recorded back to Jarvis at the house where he stored all of the information on the patients he helped at the hospital. Once he'd finished, he leaned against her desk, idly tapping on the screen after he'd turned it off. "All of these people surviving because of this...all of the lives you've saved...things like this have made me think about some things lately. My own mortality...how people will be affected."

It'd take him at least an hour to get home, get Ant and everything they'd need for him and drive them both back to the hospital. He knew she hadn't had lunch just yet since he'd been there for most of the day already, so with Ant in his little stroller and lunch in a bag for them, Tony wheeled his son into the hospital. Before they were in the door far, a couple of the nurses walking by with files stopped to say hello and compliment the kid, saying how much he looked like Tony and had his mother's eyes, where he beamed proudly at how his son soaked up the attention. Totally his kid through and through. He wasn't sure where she was at the moment, so he paged her to let her know they were going up to her office and they had lunch waiting for her.

By the time he had gotten Ant and came back, she was well into some kind of surgery, but it wasn't going to take her that long, at least hopefully not. When someone paged her to tell her that they were in her office she told the nurse to tell them she'd be along soon. About fifteen minutes later her part was done, and so she went to go scrub out and then head back up to her office.

She pushed open the door, no longer wearing her lab coat at all, apparently it had gotten dirty. "Hi you two.." she greeted.

Tony was just taking their lunch out and setting it on the desk when she walked in where Ant was trying to hop in his stroller, his chubby little arms waving when he saw his mother. Apparently, Ant had missed Remy, and it was probably made worse by Tony telling him the whole ride there, "We're going to go see Mommy. Do you want to see Mommy play doctor?" in that cutesy baby voice he always used. It'd only made the little boy flail and squeal with excitement.

"Hey," Tony said as he pulled a bottle out of the bag hanging on the stroller.

Noticing that her baby was practically trying to climb out of the stroller, she laughed and went over and picked him up out of his seat and gave him kisses all over his face and held onto him. "How's my baby.." she tickled him and he laughed still obviously excited to see her. She went to go sit down with him, bouncing him slightly on her lap. "Thanks for bringing lunch.. I'm starving.."

Really, the two of them were too adorable for words. Especially when Tony Stark was referring to something being adorable. "You're welcome," he said as he finished getting everything out and setting it up. He'd brought her a sandwich and chips, just some stuff to snack on the rest of the day, and a soda, and he set Ant's bottle to the side for now since she was holding him. "I almost brought leftovers from dinner, but I'll probably end up eating that in the middle of the night while down in the shop."

She laughed a little, "Well gee thanks.. going to save it all for yourself.." shaking her head though she was just amused, not angry. She got a sandwich and chips instead of leftovers, she wasn't quite sure whether or not she got the good end of the deal. She kissed and snuggled her boy, and then looked up at her husband. "Are you feeding him so I can eat then? Did you already eat or are you eating now too?"

"Pretty much. Unless we want to have it for dinner instead, but I'm thinking we should go out for a change for dinner. We're home all of the time. Maybe it'd be good to go to a restaurant." Which since Ant had been born, they probably hadn't really gone out to dinner since Tony didn't want the baby being out where he could catch something. "I'll fed him while you eat. I haven't eaten yet, but I can always grab something later on the way home. If he gets fussy, I'll take him home later and eat then." She'd already had a long day at work, so he'd take the burden off her and let her get a chance to breathe and enjoy her lunch. Tony actually really liked feeding Ant.

It was only fair to let him feed the baby since for a while she was the only one who could since she was the one with breasts. So she gave him one last kiss and then passed him over to his daddy so that he could feed him. "If you turn starving, we can take turns.." she smirked at him and then grabbed up her sandwich so that she could actually eat. "Yeah we could go eat.. that'd be nice.. dinner out somewhere I mean.."

"Luckily, I never need a reservation anywhere," he said with a smirk. The entire family could just show up somewhere and immediately be escorted inside. They could discuss where to go when they got home since Sophie would need to have her input. Tony took Ant into his arms and cradled him, then gave him the bottle, the baby's little hands holding onto the bottom as if he were a big boy and could feed himself. Craning back in his chair, Tony slowly rocked the baby as he fed him while Ant stared right at his dad as if he were amazed with him or something. "Anything exciting happen while I was gone? How's the guy who had a heart attack?"

In between bites of her sandwich, Remy emailed her daughter that they were going out to dinner and for her to pick a place. It was easier that way since she knew they'd both eat just about anything. "Um.. he's a patient of House's. He was somewhere.. when he took a bite of some poor lady's arm and then collapsed. He's trying to figure it out but.. I guess genius takes time.." she was very glad in that moment that her husband wasn't like House, or maybe just that he wasn't a doctor. "He needed a brain biopsy that's why I was in there, drilling a hole in the poor guy's head."

"Ouch," he said as he flinched, which made Ant's little eyes widen. Tony couldn't imagine the feeling of someone drilling into his skull. It was bad enough that'd he'd felt some of the initial surgery when the first electromagnet had been put into his chest, only to be knocked out when he'd gained enough consciousness that he'd started to fight the ones holding him down. Either way, both were equally scary to imagine and worse to experience. "All of it is trial and error, even if you're a genius. Have to keep testing until the right thing comes along to point you in the right direction." He pulled the bottle out of Ant's mouth to give him a chance to pause and digest what he'd drank, then wiped his mouth with a little cloth. "Someone's getting a little round," he said as he patted the baby's belly.

"Totally ouch.. at least it wasn't one of those where he was awake and they just give you novocaine.." those were the worst. "Yeah I know, I had to work for the guy remember?" she grinned slightly. "Don't forget to burp him .. which you can do so he spits up all over you instead of me.." she said sweetly, rather enjoying her sandwich and the fact that Tony was possibly going to get thrown up on. Those were the fun days. "He's supposed to be round. I weighed him the other day, he's 7 more pounds then the last time I did.." which was almost a month ago, give or take some.
