Who: Belle and Anne
Where: Munich
What: watching a play, lunch
When: Midafternoon
Warnings: none anticipated.

Belle sat on a bench close to the portkey, fidgeting with her Blackberry. She intended to turn it off when Anne arrived, but that hadn't happened just yet, so she figured she might as well make sure everything was getting done. Plus, she had found the addictiveness of Twitter.

Anne was thankful that she had learned about the portkeys. Otherwise she wouldn't have been able to arrange such an outing on short notice, but it seemed so long since she had been to Germany. Surely this seemed worth the trouble.

Anne chose to wear blue dress trousers and a nice blouse, still not able to bring herself to wear the knee length skirts and dresses that came with her wardrobe. It was more practical at any rate, as she still couldn't travel gracefully by portkey.

True to her word, Anne shot through the second portkey into Munich, carefully getting back on her feet. She brushed herself off, looking to see a woman just by the portkey.

"You must be Belle? Yes?" She smiled, her face lighting up as she heard, what sounded like the first time in ages, people speaking in german and possessing german accents.

"Yes." Belle stood, and helped Anne to her feet. "Are you alright?"

That had been a nasty spill. Belle usually used her telekinesis to remain on her feet once she had been spat out.

"I'm fine, truly." She waved her hand, dismissing any questions about her concern. "That was much better than when I first attempted to travel by portkey."

Alright, so her behind was a little sore, but it would be okay in a moment or two.

"It's just so nice to be back in my mother country. A few bumps are nothing."

She laughed and nodded. "I can understand that. Figured you might like my choice of locations."

She smiled widely at Anne, and gestured toward the sidewalk. "Shall we go enjoy lunch before the play?"

Anne nodded in reply. "It was one of the conditions to the annulment I agreed to, that I wouldn't contact or attempt to go back to German. Of course, going back to Germany would leave me at the mercy of my brother and I wouldn't be allowed to the allowance I had in England."

she looked across the sidewalk, her eyes widening a little at the mention of a play. "They allow performances here?" At her time, Germany was strongly protestant, and forbid public performances as idle time.

"Yep. Germany's had a pretty rough history, but it's becoming more and more in touch with the things that made it awesome."

She smiled and led the way to the cafe. "The play's by one of the up and coming playwrights. Supposed to be pretty funny. I hope so."

Hopefully it would translate to the other woman. "How long have you been in this time?"

"I am still reading about my country's history. It is just as well, as much as I love Germany, it was rather dull compared to England."

They came across to the cafe. As most tourist visited areas, the menus were bilingual in both German and English. Anne sat down at a table.

"I have been here for almost a fortnight."

"Only some parts, these days. Berlin is incredible, these days."

Belle sat across from Anne and scanned the menu. "Wow, how are you adapting?"

"I suppose it is the same with every country."

She followed suit, reading the german section of the menu. "Oh, I suppose I just am. I have had to be very quick with adapting, since I was to marry Henry in England and didn't know any english when I arrived."

She thought a moment. "Talking to people helps a great deal, and watching them. It is easier on finding things out that way...I was shocked at how little women wear in this era, but I also saw that to everyone else, it didn't matter. So, it was only a matter of realizing so."
