Ganieda is quite grateful that the meeting place is in a tea shop. She needs a moment for her head to stop spinning and for her body to readjust after the strange trip with the Portkey. It was a most unusual way to travel and not as pleasant as she'd hoped it would be.

She sweeps her skirts under her as she sits and waits to order until Sonya gets there. Ganieda feels rather excited to see the woman she considers as a friend again.

	"Oh, it sounds dreadful," Ganieda says in sympathy. "But you are taking things easy, I hope." Though not too easy, she didn't think that Sonya would ever be able to live a life of leisure, even for a month or two. "I am well. Becoming excited about school, and not merely frightened." She shrugged. "It sounds worse than it really is and as easy as I'm able too." Honestly, were Tsung able to have his way, he'd have her on permanent bed rest for the whole nine months.

"I think every teen feels that way when they first enter high school." Even more so for military kids who sometimes have to go to high/secondary school in two different countries.

"Do you want any sort of tea? I could order some at the counter."

Sonya got up from the chair and over to the counter, ordering two Earl Greys (one decaffeinated). She returned to the table with a small tray of two mugs of tea and two ginger scones.

"I needed to eat something and I'm not so rude as to not order something for the other person." She set the plates on the table.

"I can't say I care much for how the education system is going, I'd think you'd be excited to finally learn something besides just domestic skills. I know I'd feel the same way."

	Sonya bit into the scone, the spicy and sweet ginger seemed to calm down her stomach almost immediately. "I'm not suggesting you'd stop all together, if house work needs to be done it needs to be done." Then again Sonya's background drilled neatness in so that she never had the chance of keeping a sloppy home. "But mental stimulation is a very good thing." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Sonya hid a snort by taking a swallow of tea, for some reason decaffeinated didn't send her stomach turning as much as regular tea or coffee.

"You've obviously never been to a bachelor's apartment."

"But you're right, it does get stifling after a short while. Especially with what you've told me of your schedule, you should be plenty busy."

Sonya never did well with boredom either. During her captivity, the waits in the cell, between torture and dinners with Shang Tsung were enough to drive her mad.

"No, the army gave me orders to transfer to the army base just outside the city. At the start of the month, with the recent attacks and 'disasters' taking place, the English Parliament requested that the US send over some soldiers."

"As for Tsung, he agreed to come because he finds the country more interesting than America, and part of his business does have a branch here so it works out."

She took another bite, followed by a sip of tea.

"They'd have to, seeing as I've been keeping regular check ups at the Army hospital. They've had me in charge of tactics, battle plans, I suppose you could call them. There are plenty of positions open for expectant female personnel. I'll only be called into 'active' duty if there's no other option."

She stared off a moment. "It's the risk every soldier knows about, male or female. It'll sound cruel, but if someone were to take me out, I'd rather it be with the baby still in me."

	Ganieda nodded again. "But why before the baby was born?" She knew of the obligations of soldiers and there were plenty of female soldiers in her time. But the last part of Sonya's statement puzzled her. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Because it's kinder than giving birth and being able to save the baby. This is why I didn't want kids in the first place, because I knew there's the risk of me dying and leaving the kid."

And she didn't really trust Tsung to raise a child without her. She wasn't the best example of parenthood, but she was a hell of a lot better than Shang Tsung.

Sonya blinked, rubbing her eyes and was both shocked and embarrassed to find that her eyes felt moist.

Ganieda nodded. "Yes...yes, I can see what you mean," she says quietly.

And of course, one could not help what they are. Sonya was a soldier, was born to be one, even Ganieda could see that. She did wonder, though, what arrangements would be after the baby was born.

But that was none of her business.

"Will you let me come visit? After the baby is born?" she asks, shyly. Ganieda likes children.
