Entry tags:ganieda, sonya blade

Who: Sonya and Ganieda
What: A Conversation
Where: A London Tea Shop
Warnings: None at the moment.

Ganieda is quite grateful that the meeting place is in a tea shop. She needs a moment for her head to stop spinning and for her body to readjust after the strange trip with the Portkey. It was a most unusual way to travel and not as pleasant as she'd hoped it would be.

She sweeps her skirts under her as she sits and waits to order until Sonya gets there. Ganieda feels rather excited to see the woman she considers as a friend again.

"It's 'safer' bringing a kid in this time period than it was before hand anyway. Less chances of either mother or child dying."

"History wasn't really my forte in high school. I received good grades, but I was more interested in the subject when the topic was of some past war."

Ah, the army brat shows herself once again.

"I had heard something to that effect. It makes me very grateful that I am here and not there."

She smiles a little. "That makes sense...I'd just like to know all that has passed, and maybe be able to understand things here even more."

"Joys of antibiotics."

"Just make sure to focus on the rest of your subjects." She took a large bite of scone, washing it down with tea. "Unless you have a class with 'Current events' not sure you'll be able to make sense of things here."

"Have you started classes already?"

"Not quite yet. On the second of September. I do hope it shall go well. But if nothing else, it will be interesting. I am hoping there is a class called 'Current Events' it would make things much simpler."

"Depends if whoever you replace, if the girl already took the subject or not. But that's what libraries are for at any rate."

"The person I replaced did not keep good track of her classes...I haven't a clue as to what classes she took last year."

She sighs. "I suppose I shall find out soon enough."

"Get in contact with the school, they should have a transcript of the classes she took previously."

"How're your lessons in sorcery?"

"I shall have to do that."

She smiles. "They are coming along quite well. Merlin is beginning to teach me some refinements to my larger spells, so that I can cast more subtly when it is necessary."

"What sort of spells? Do you have any favorites or which you prefer to learn?" The most exciting sorts Sonya learned was her 'spirit animal' and reading into souls.

Sonya finished off the rest of her tea.

"I mostly like the light-casting spells, fire, light and energy. It's nice to make a fire with just a turn of thought or light a candle with your finger. Especially knowing that you can do such a thing on a grander scale."

The refinements of these spells have mostly been on size and speed. The more she does such things, the more she understands the magic inside her.

She nodded. "Liu Kang was could create fire, so could Shang Tsung-of course, they were taught by the same monks."

"Liu was the one who taught me projectiles." She moved the now empty tea cup around the table surface.

"So far, most of what I am learning has some self-defense application. Though now I am working on my Sight, and...that one is difficult."

It scares her more than anything, frankly. But she does it so she will be in control when the Sight takes her more forcefully.

"Self defense sorcery's good in a pinch, but," she shrugs. "I'm a sucker for the 'old fashioned' way."

She raises an eyebrow, her face serious. "Sight? you mean, being able to see into the future." Being able to see into souls could lead to seeing someone's future, but it wasn't concrete and only based on the person's deep seated actions and reactions than drawing a conclusion.

Ganieda laughs a little. "If it is old-fashioned, I should know about it, one would think."

She nods. "Aye. It usually comes upon me in visions and dreams, because I was suppressing it too much. It's a...rather frightening sort of gift."

She does not often understand her visions very well.

The soldier nodded. "Don't cut yourself short, 'old fashioned' just means 'physical combat'. You already said you had some skill in that."

She thought a moment. "Dreams are fucked up by themselves, adding premonitions of the future would be enough to make them scarier."

"In my world, dreams of that sort were usually sent to monks, or anyone that the gods wanted to give advice or a message. Liu Kang and Kung Lao had a lot of them, when we were camping out, they would sometimes wake up in a sweat."

"Yes, I remember that quite well, the waking."

She shuddered. "My brother and I have very similar gifts, even in this world. I am learning to focus the visions so that I can learn more about them and how I have them. It does not make it less disturbing...but I am less afraid of them now."

"I heard that writing them down as soon as you wake up helps sort them out." She resorted to that same tactic when she was recovering from her time as Kahn's prisoner.

"Advice, if someone offers you something called 'Acid' or LSD, refuse it. It'll just make the dreams worse only it will be when you're awake and last as long as the drug's in your system."

"Aye. Well, that is part of being a prophetess...writing things down, or declaring them orally. It does no one any good if the visions are forgotten, after all."

She nods. "I will remember that, then. Hazelnuts are the only thing that I use to bring on the visions. If I need to. I usually don't."

Her knowledge is right beneath the surface. It really doesn't take much to tap it.
