Who: Faith, Dean and Emily
When: Nowish
Where: Faith's Pimp Palace
Why: Because all Faith wanted was some dinner.
Warnings: crazycave!Emily

Faith had her arms folded over her chest, standing in the main kitchen leaning against the counter. It was just another average day for one of New York's busiest madams. She took the calls, she booked them, she tried her best to keep track of who she owed and who owed her. She even had a leftover slice of pie that Mary had brought over for Emily with a few of the girls. The problem was, she had to eat it with her fingers because somehow... mysteriously every piece of silverware in the house had disappeared.

Things had been getting progressively worse over the last few days and Faith didn't really understand it. She'd seemed fine after the attack happened. In fact, she had been the one telling everyone else to shut up because she was fine. Now, if it had been Solvei or Dean saying that Faith wouldn't have bothered to believe it, but Emily wasn't like the rest of them so she believed her.

It didn't get her very far. All of the silverware was gone along with any pens, bottle openers, anything that had a sharp edge. Some of the girls had complained that she'd broken into their room and stolen razors and other things. Faith didn't know. She didn't understand what was going on. She wanted to believe that it would just work itself out until Solvei wasn't tangled up with her boyfriend and their kid or until Dean stopped being a bitch and came back home.

Unfortunately, it didn't work itself out. She realized that when she went to drag her weapons trunk out of the closet and saw that someone had tried pretty damn hard to pry the lock off of it. Yeah, Emily getting into Faith's good weapons just wasn't something that was going to happen and with a house full of other people, Faith just didn't have the time to dedicate to it. The biggest problem was that she didn't understand it and short of calling the closest Nut House she wasn't sure what else to do. Luckily, Dean was coming to deal with it.

She lit up a cigarette and stared out the window moodily as she waited for Winchester to get his ass over to the house. And people thought she was the crazy one.

He knew where to find her? Shit. Her purse. He knew that. The guy hadn't been back and Dean was pretty sure if he knew what happened to his boss, he'd be smart and just stay gone. Grabbing her flashlight, he leaned over and flashed the light on the food that was in there. He found a bag of chips, surprisingly behind all of the canned food and grabbed them. He handed her back the flashlight and opened up the bag of chips.

"Yeah ..." he said and grabbed a few chips before shoving them into his mouth. "Want some?" He asked and leaned the bag of chips over to her.

"The guy's not gonna come back, just sayin'. Think he's learned his lesson and besides, me 'n Faith are gonna take care of it," he tried to assure her. Faith already took care of the boss. Now Dean wanted to take care of the guys who 'actually' did this to Emily. "Everything's gonna be alright. I'm not goin' anywhere."

Emily didn't like to think about Dean and Faith out there on their own. All kinds of things could happen to them, strong as they were. They were like towers to Emily, broad and unbreakable. That was, until someone took a strong enough hammer and then they crumbled. Emily was worried about them, about their souls. She wasn't sure she could keep them safe.

She ate a chip but then quickly handed the bag back to Dean. They were his chips, she brought them for him even though she had decided yesterday that he was never coming back. That somehow, things between them were irrevocably destroyed. She was never going to see him again.

Yet, here he was. Sitting beside her and she still couldn't climb out of the hole she'd dug herself. She knew he was going to leave or die, just like she knew that Bobby and Solvei and Faith and everyone else was going to share the same fate.

She blinked back a few tears and leaned her head back against the wall. "Do you ever think about your heart?" She asked him. "How do you even know it's beating?"

Turning his head, he kept his eyes on her. He didn't know what to say to her that would make her better and for the most part, he knew he couldn't make it all better. This was just ... this. He hated it because he could always save her and now he was coming up empty.

"I'll ... I'm going to go talk to Faith." He said and put down the bag of chips. Rubbing her arm, he got her attention again before promising her, "I'll be right back."

Getting up, he made his way to the door and headed out, shutting it behind him. He found Faith in the living room and sat down on the arm of the couch.

"Yeah, I don't know about this."

Faith was sitting on the couch in the living room when Dean came in, she glanced up at him when he sat down next to her. Immediately she stood up and started to pace in front of him slightly. Dean didn't know about this and if Dean didn't know, Faith sure as hell didn't know.

"Maybe we should call somebody." She offered gently. She wasn't sure how he was gonna react to the reoccurring idea that maybe Emily needed more help than the two of them could give her. "You know, a doctor. Take her to... a hospital."

She didn't want to come right out and say the Nut House because she figured Dean was going to be a lot less likely to go along with the idea that way. He was just staring at her and so she let out a sigh and folded her arms over her chest. She felt guilty. Really fucking guilty actually and she didn't know what to do.

"I don't know, dude. You know her better than I do. Has she ever snapped like this before?" She asked him, finally pausing again in front of him.

"Yeah, how about we don't," he said and gave her a look. She didn't need a hospital, what she needed was a good nights sleep and she'd be over it. That's what he wanted to believe anyway, but the truth was? Maybe Faith was right. He couldn't save her, he didn't know what to do and Emily was gonna suffer if they didn't do something fast.

"When I met her, she was already snapped, Faith. This is just ... different."

Moving down to the couch, he sat there and Faith stood there in front of him. He rubbed the back of his head and leaned forward, thinking hard about what to do.

"When I met her, this was how she was. Always hiding. Every other night, we had to find a new spot because they'd come after us, mostly after her."

Faith listened to him and nodded slowly, already feeling guilty again for even suggesting a hospital or a doctor. How could any shrink deal with a patient who'd been to hell? It wasn't like they would even believe her if she talked to them about it.

"I'm sorry." Faith finally said, plopping down on the couch next to him heavily and staring into space a little bit. She hadn't looked at him at all. "You know, about everything. I know I screwed this up with Em. And with your brother and Sol." She nervously licked her lips, unsure as to why this moment was softening her up so much. Damn those sad Winchester eyes.

"I wanna make it better but I don't know how." She finally looked over at him, but he hadn't said anything yet which was in keeping with him so she just chewed on her lower lip again. She pulled the pack of Marlboros out of her pocket and shuffled them nervously before pulling one free.

"What do we do?" She asked, looking over at him. She didn't know if he'd have any more clue than she did. So they would call Solvei and ask her and she'd have no idea either. Then they would call Grace and so on and so forth. No. they needed to come up with some kind of solution now.

He didn't want her to go and see anyone and he didn't really want anyone to know what was going on with Em, but he figured that was probably too late. Letting out a breath, he thought on it for a bit. Yeah, Faith was sorry. He believed it. He knew that Faith wouldn't just sit by and let something like this happen. She took care of the boss. Now he just had to find the actual fuckers that hurt her.

"Yeah, I don't know," he said and stood up as she lit a cigarette. He walked over to the kitchen and pulled a beer from the shelf before walking back. "Think I'm gonna take her to my place. Least there, the guy can't get to her. Not that he could get to her here, now ..." He said and looked at Faith. He popped open the beer and took a long swallow.

"Yeah. I'm gonna do that. She'll probably be better off." Setting the beer down, he headed back to the room and opened up the door. She was still in the closet.

Knocking softly, he leaned against the door. "Em? It's me, I'm comin' in," he whispered and opened the door.

"Okay." Emily whispered in the dark. She'd been sitting there alone for what felt like hours but she knew it could only have been a few short minutes. It wasn't long before Dean was crawling into her makeshift cave. She had originally thought he'd settle in next to her again, just the way that they used to be when they shared a hell together. But instead he stopped right in front of her.

She just stared at him for a second unsure of why he had that look on his face. Was it time to move? Did they need to leave? "Dean?" She started as he reached out for her hand. She looked at it for a second before she slipped hers into it. His fingers closed around hers and he started to gently tug her away from her safe haven.

"Wait. Where are we going? What are you doing?" She whispered to him in the dark, as he pulled her free from the blankets and cardboard and miscellaneous stacks of things. A sliver of light turned into a lot of light, that somewhat blinded Emily as the closet door was opened. Dean took advantage of her surprise by pulling her the rest of the way out of the closet.

Faith was packing things into a duffel bag and Emily looked at her curiously. "What's going on?" She asked, as she looked back up at Dean again.

"Em, it's time for you to go." Faith said softly, almost gentle for Faith as she walked closer with the expensive luggage draped casually over her shoulder. "You can't stay here. You know that."

"Oh, it's time to move on." Emily nodded her head at the two of them. She understood. You have to stay on the move before anything can track you down and pounce.

"Come on," he said and put his jacket back on that he had laying about on a chair before grabbing the bag that Faith was carrying. He pulled Emily along with his other hand, reaching down and clasping his hand in hers. "I'll call you later, Faith," Dean told her and looked back at Emily.

Faith walked them out to the sidewalk and he gave her another look before wrapping his arm over Emily's shoulder. A few blocks later and he was pulling out his key and letting them inside of his apartment. Once he closed the door, he dropped the bag and watched her. Looked like she was wanting to do something and Dean eyed the kitchen before looking at her again.

"Yeah, uh," he started and locked the four deadbolts that were on his door. "They aren't gonna get us. This place, this whole place? Is like our cave. Pretty cool huh?" He tried and walked over to the kitchen, guarding it in a way so she couldn't get past him.

Yeah, he really didn't want her messing with his food and forks and well, let's just say, if it's in the kitchen, it's supposed to be there.

Emily felt nervous during the walk but the minute Dean locked all of the deadbolts she relaxed slightly. It was Dean who looked anxious, the way he was looking at her, she didn't recognize him at all. It wasn't like before. Neither befores, or any of the befores before that. It was different this time and she didn't know why.

It made her panic again but she quickly pulled herself together and looked around. Walking over to the window she pulled the curtains closed and paused for a minute before she turned back around to look at him.

"I'm not crazy. This isn't a cave." She said, her voice only slightly stronger as she tried to take a deep breath and calm down. It was hard to do, she felt really exposed in this room so she walked out of it and headed into the bathroom. She felt better in here, she decided instantly and closed the door behind her.

Climbing into the tub she drew the shower curtain closed and sat there. Ten minutes later she heard a knock on the door and glanced up when she heard Dean's voice. The door popped open and she heard him walk into the bathroom before he opened up the shower curtain and looked down at her.

She patted the tub right next to her waiting for him to climb in with her.

Alright, so she didn't get the fact that Dean was trying to reason with her saying that the apartment was a cave. Of course it wasn't, but he was just trying to help. Guess after you've lived in a cave for hundreds of years, an apartment just doesn't compare. She closed the curtains and then disappeared to the bathroom. At least it wasn't the kitchen. Leaning against the counter, he thought of what to do, but the only thing he could come up with was just be there with her. Maybe she'd calm down? He didn't have a single clue.

Knocking on the door, he pushed the door open and walked over, opening the curtain. She patted the tub and he raised his eyebrow before taking off his coat and his boots. The next thing he knew, he was sitting across from her and she was quick to close the curtain again.

Sitting there in silence for a little bit, he leaned back and watched her.

"No one is gonna get you, Em. I'll be here. You know I won't let them get you."

It wasn't really all that comfortable in the tub, but Emily leaned back against the porcelain and tried to make the best of it. At least they were enclosed now. It was much darker in here and Emily felt a little bit safer. They wouldn't be able to stretch out much but they'd had worse.

"I know." She told him, as she stopped fiddling with her fingernails and looked back up at him. "It's still better if we stay in here." She smiled at him slightly. It wasn't like he could protect her forever, not even that she wanted him to. She wanted to protect them, she just wasn't sure how to.

The shower curtain was a good start.

"I was watching on the news today. You know there's this guy... he has a hook. You know what he's been doing to people?" Emily asked him smartly. "It's bad out there."

He just nodded and leaned his head back against the wall. He knew that no matter what, he'd be in there all night if she didn't want to get out. He wasn't leaving her. He listened to her talk on and on about the news and yeah, things were bad out there. He rarely watched the news, unless the news counted as Extra or The Soup. Yeah, so he was a closet gossip junkie, but come on, Joel McHale? Awesome dude.

Getting up, he stepped out of the tub and put his hand on her shoulder, "Lean over and scoot," he told her and she complied. He stepped back in and sat down behind her and it was only a second until she pressed herself back against him and he leaned his head back on the end of the tub.

"You can't help what happens, Em. Shit happens, but I promise you, nothing like that will ever happen to you. Again." He reached up and played with her hair a little before he finally stopped and propped his hand on the side of the tub. It killed him seeing her like this.

"Mmmm." She murmered as she leaned up against him. His fingers in her hair were soothing but not as much as his voice. She went so long without speaking, only screaming. She forgot what the sound of her own voice was like until he came along and reminded her.

Closing her eyes she let out a breath she'd been holding in, finally feeling herself relax as her heart rate returned to it's normal measured beat.

The next thing Emily knew she had a ray of light shining right in her eyes. She tried to squeeze her eyes tighter but the shadows wouldn't return. She blinked her eyes open to see the light was coming from outside, bursting in a thin stream underneath the blinds from the window and through the shower curtain.

It was morning. And she was.... she was sleeping in a bathtub. She opened her eyes more and realized she was pressed up against someone else. She knew who, she'd slept here before. Somehow it seemed different now though.

He stirred underneath her and she stiffened up slightly. "Morning." She said to him quickly, as she picked herself up. Her legs were tired and stiff from sleeping in the bathtub and she gingerly stepped out before heading to the kitchen to make coffee.

"Hmm," he shifted and moved around a little bit when she got up. It was pretty much the first time he actually moved all night. Wasn't sure when he actually fell asleep, but he knew she knocked out before him. Must have been something he said. Rubbing the back of his head, he sat up a little and watched her go before finally lifting himself out of the tub. He turned on the sink and splashed some water on his face. Frowning, he looked toward the door when he heard her in the kitchen. He turned off the sink and headed out to where she was.

The thought of her grabbing all of his silverware and blender crossed his mind. Not the blender. He liked the blender. And the toaster. Actually, he liked everything that went in the kitchen and he was about to put the smackdown on that whole situation until he saw her ... making coffee.

Walking up, he leaned against the counter and watched her.

"How are you feelin'?" He asked and looked around. Nothing was missing. Everything was in its place and she was ... making coffee. He was confused.

"Better." She said, after she considered his question for a minute. "A little less crazy than yesterday." She frowned. "Or the day before." If she wanted to be completely honest with herself she was still almost just as bad. She had to work hard to deny the urge to start hoarding things and building dark little caves to hide in. Jesus, she spent the night in the bathtub.

With Dean. She glanced over at him again and met his eyes for a quick second before she looked away. Now that things were a little more.... clear. Now that she felt a little bit better, things were going back to their old awkward ways. She remembered what Bobby had told her, what Julia had told her.

"Thanks. For coming to get me." She told him before quickly turning her eyes back to the coffee pot and the task at hand. She still felt a little exposed and so she pulled the blinds down so the kitchen plummeted into artificial lighting.

She poured two cups of coffee and pushed one in front of him as she brought her own cup to the other side of the counter and sad down, looking anywhere but right at him.

He felt relieved. She was better. Except, how could she be? How could it just turn off like that? He was skeptical about it all, but if she said she was better, than she was better. Now Faith could take that 'sending her to the loony bin' thing back. Because Emily wasn't going there. Even if that was probably the best thing for her from her actions last night.

She kept on looking at him like she had something to say, but the words never came out. Instead of asking her, he let it go. She had a long night, whatever it was, it didn't matter. Unless it was about her, then it did matter. Either way, he wasn't going to press the situation.

"Thanks," he said and took his cup of coffee when she pushed it in front of him.

"So, I figure you'll just stay here a few days. Think it'll be better than you stayin' at Faith's." He tried to meet her eyes, but she didn't look at him and he was getting annoyed by it.

"Unless you wanna go somewhere else, besides Faith's." He wasn't stupid, he remembered what she said. Go and don't come back.

Still stung.

She raised her eyes up slightly to meet his. Somewhere else as in Bruce's? She wanted to ask him but she didn't dare. It wasn't that important right now and God, what was she gonna do about Bruce? She spared him a thought or two, remembering that she had promised to call and how she just... hadn't.

"Here is fine. I don't want to you know... get in your way though or anything." She added in, looking at him. By getting in his way she mostly meant getting in the way of his sex life. She knew it would be a buzzkill having the crazy girl around the apartment. Living with your roommate from hell.

Again.

She was tapping her foot on the floor nervously, chewing on her lower lip so hard that she tasted blood. She quickly tried to cover it up by taking another sip of her coffee.

"You don't mind if I just put some tape on the windows, do you?"

"Then fine," he told her and took another sip of his coffee before finally putting the mug down and walking over so he could look in the fridge. There wasn't a lot in there. Actually, there was nothing. He was living on takeout and whatever they had at the bar. Least at Bobby's he got some type of meal. Shutting the door, his eyes ran over the height of her body and he watched her foot as it tapped against the floor.

"Yes," he said and walked up beside her. "I do mind. You wanna go hide, get back in your tub," he said a little rudely and wanted to take it back. With a sigh, he moved across from her, where he was before.

"You're goin' to be okay, Em. I mean, come on, you're ... doin' good and it was only five minutes until you brought up windows and tape. Let's see if we can go for ten."

"I'm sure I'll be fine." She said numbly, her tongue feeling heavy in her mouth even as she said it. She met his eyes and everything that time just to give it that little bit of extra emphasis to make it believable.

"I guess we're ordering for breakfast." She said to him, taking a deep breath and pulling the menus off of the top of the fridge where he kept them. She tossed them down on the counter right near him.

"I'm gonna go take a shower." There. That should give him his ten minutes. It would take her at least that long to take a shower and what do you know, you shower in the tub. Emily raised an eyebrow at the thought and headed down the hall with the bag that Faith had packed for her. Faith packed it so Emily was a little afraid to see what could be inside of it.

She took her shower in peace and even stopped afterwards to brush her hair and put on lip gloss which was an improvement over the last few days.

Once dressed she went back into the kitchen to see that breakfast was already waiting on her.
