Merlin worried, as ever, about those he loved. His sister was one of those small few who qualified for that statement and he worried about her in this new world. Even if he had not known her before now, even if he had not ever had a sister in his world, the discovery of family led to a new joy and love, and a newfound protectiveness.

So he gave her a key of magic to say, his name, and opened his mind, preparing the spell that would bring her to him on her saying of it. He was in his rooms, in his study, prepared, this evening, to take her on a visit to a place where she could let herself relax, a new place she did not know, and yet, one he hoped she would love.

So he waited, eyes glowing, and smiling. The room was filled with a couch, a desk, and paperwork.

He had let Belle know he would be spending some time with his sister and taking her to Avalon to teach her of magic.

	"I am afraid only the raw material of it existed here before I formed it, but it does now. It may be vastly different from what you knew, but I hope it will seem a good place to thee." They flickered and the reality around the simply shifted sideways, and then the room fuzzed out and snapped back to clarity, just as fast, and they stood in a room richly appointed, with couch, chair, and bed, with a large bookcase, and a writing desk, with paper and pen and pencil set already, and with a closet filled with both ancient and modern dress.

"Welcome to Avalon, Dear Sister, and to your room here, whenever you wish it."

A large window, almost as large as Merlin himself, stood on one wall, showing outward the realm, hills and trees, faerie lights, and sky of purple, and a large hill nearby, and valleys all around. In the distance, a small town seemed to be springing up.

On the opposite wall, a door stood, open to a hallway.

	Ganieda blinked and looked around. "Oh. It's beautiful," she breathed, and went to the window. It was...different. And yet... "It's home," she said in a small voice. "But..." She looked back at him. "It's lovely. So quiet." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

He nodded.

"I live here, sometimes, when not in the world, with Belle. But no one else dwells in the castle."

He waved a hand out the window.

"Out in it, there are several small groups, but indeed, it is far quieter than the one I knew in my world. This world had little of magic in it when I came, and I had to gather it to form this place. Some elves, some faerie, dwell her now, as do peoples from times long ago, come here under my protection. As long as they abide by the laws of Avalon; peace, hope, and love, respect for all, they are welcome. It is safe to walk among them, for they will not harm you."

he chuckled.

"Even the dragon is not a threat, for she loves the peace of this realm as we do."

	He led her out of the room, and through the halls, showing her the castle first, a roomy affair, with modernly acquainted rooms. And then out the front he led her, to where a large hill led slowly slopingly downward. "It is a beautiful place." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Ganieda looked around in fascination. It was lovely to see the fae out in the world without fear. "I sometimes feel so lost still. Though when I am at home it is...rather nice." He smiled softly.

Around a hillock they walked, and a minielephant trotted past, trumpetting at them, chased by gnomes.

Merlin shook his head.

"I am slowly finding and relocating what magic I can from this world, so Avalon will gain it's height.

	"Humming." He grinned at her and hummed a trail of notes, concentrating, and a trill of light formed and faded. "Humming can summon directionless magic, and can not, in and of itself, harm anything, so it is safe to use. Concentration and will, with the music, allows us to touch the magic." 	She looked at him, a slight smile on her lips. "Humming. Now that is a technique I think the nine sisters missed when they were trying to cajole me into learning." Ganieda nodded and closed her eyes and thought and thought about the lovely things of her old life, like cooking on the hearth and quiet voices and the ladies' laughter, which came not often, but at odd times. The general feeling of hearth and home and the color brown.

And then she began to hum, almost without her knowing that she was. And she uncurled her hand from where it was tight against her and held it out. She opened her eyes in time to see a very slight gathering of light form upon her hand.

	Ganieda nodded, and tried to relax. It was soft in her hand, but powerful, like a kiss, intentional and present. Oh, so this is how it is, she thought, and began to relax. Ganieda listened and nodded.

"I was not always afraid," she said. "I was known to create sweet little things out of magic, things a small girl would create. But I made the mistake of doing such outside of Avalon in front of people. The reactions frightened me so that I didn't want to touch magic again." She sighed deeply. "My brother reacted to my fright in the opposite way, becoming even more powerful in my weakness. I simply faded and became a pawn to forge political alliances in whatever marriage they had intended for me."

She leaned her head on her brother's arm. But it was the way things were back then and she realized that she was grateful to not be back there now.

	She beamed at him. "I hope always to bring joy where ever I go." She did not wish to harm, only to help, and she hoped greatly that her magic would be something to aid others.
