who. Ianto & Reinette
where. bute park, cardiff
when. afternoonish

Ianto was sat on a park bench, people watching in general but looking out for Reinette specifically. Sometimes looking up to the sky hoping it would stay dry at least a little while longer. He was looking forwards to meeting her. But the same time he was a little it wary, if some other version of himself had been close with her he wondered what else he'd told her. Then there was the idea he actually worked at Torchwood three here or did or would do, not that it mattered he didn't think that would ever have happened. Consdering the attitude that One and Three had between them.

"That sounds it, though I came from a large family so it would be sort of normal." He missed normal.

He glanced at their hands then smiled back up at her.

"Me? I moved back from London not that long ago. No-one seems to know what to say to me or what I'm supposed to be doing." He kept what he had to say deliberatly vague considering where they were and the fact of what he wanted to say was mostly classified.

"Well you are welcome to come over any time you wish. I will personally vouch for you as my guest." S

he smiled. She liked seehim him smiling at her. He looked to her like a bloke that needed to smile much more often. This Ianto was different, more guarded. She could see the worry in his eyes. It was very sad to see.

"It is nice to be home, isn't it? A place you know. I miss France on occasion. Not that I do not enjoy my time here. Still, it is not home. Home is... Well Home is where the heart is, they say."

"You don't have to discuss it, whatever it is. We can talk of other things?"

"I'd like that." No he'd love it, but he wouldn't say that.

"I don't know yet, but things are looking like they could be improving." It was as he said improving that he heard thunder.

"We should probably find somewhere to stay dry." He offered her a hand hoping they could get to one of the underpasses or part of the castle before it started to rain heavy.

She smiled. Her cheeks reddened slightly and she looked up at the sky at the thunder. Of course it would rain on a day like today. A day that was looking so good, so promising and hopeful. Her eyes moved back down to Ianto, straying to his hand.

"That sounds rather wonderful." She took his hand and stood up. "Lead on. Though I must state, I won't melt if water should fall."

"Oh?" He held her hand a little tighter, smiling. "Might have to keep you outside then so when it does rain I get to see if you're telling the truth." He looked up at the sky hopefully and looked back at her as the first few drops fell on him.

"I hope you don't. It'd be such a waste of beauty."

"Well, then perhaps it might not be a good idea to test that?"

Tugging his hand, she pulled him up from the bench and off toward the castle. Just then, the water began to fall. Sadly, they wouldn't be able to escape the rain. Some of her hair grew wet and began to stick to her cheeks.

Ianto pulled his jacket off and held it over their heads, as best he could before he let it drop onto his head holding it still up over Reinette while allowing him a free hand to move her hair from her face.

It was of course something from some chick movie but he had to do it, she could always push him away from her for leaning in and kissing her.

Reinette smiled rather shyly when he did that. There was still a part of her that didn't want to kiss him. Kissing him meant that she had to face the fact that she had been trying to get over him. With every touch, she was forgetting that.

And still, she kissed him back. Her eyes fluttered closed and for one brief moment, she let herself be happy.

Ianto wasn't sure at what point he realised there was a little nagging voice at the back of his mind telling him he needed to stop kissing Reinette and pick up his jacket from the ground. He wasn't certiain when he damn thing had fallen off his head and they were in the rain and he just wanted to keep kissing her like that. He pointedly ignored the voice, that was the 'old' Ianto the one who worked in London, he wasn't in London so he wasn't going to behave like that. And kissing Reinette was much too good to stop even if he got hit by lightening and killed then he'd certainly have a smile on his face.

Reinette smiled softly, leaning back against a tree. She was really enjoying the snog, getting into it. Her hands moved up to wrap around his neck and one of her hands played with the soft hair at the back of his neck. His lips were soft, she thought to herself.

Reluctantly, she pulled away though. Someone had to be the strong person and it clearly wasn't going to be him. She couldn't get sucked into this again. She didn't want to be hurt again.

"Thought we were going to get shelter," she asked quietly. This was no shelter. The water was still dripping through the trees and her clothes now clung to her curves.

"You mean this isn't enough?" He joked, then he realised they were both soaked and staying out and catching cold wouldn't be fun exactly.

"Should go and get dry." Little better than him nearly saying he wanted to get her out of those wet clothes, he had some sense as she had pulled away from him. "Is yours very far?" He wanted her to be comfortable, that was all. Nothing else.

"Well a castle was mentioned. And we're under a tree now. What if it is struck or something? I would rather like to live, at least one more day..." She chuckled, reaching up and brushing her fingertips against his cheek.

She was hesitant. And more so than just what Jack might think. Though to be honest, she did not know what they would feel about her bringing anyone back to the house. "I... I am unsure." Her cheeks reddened again. "Where... Where is yours?"

"Make sure it's more than a day. I'd like to get to know you." He turned to kiss her fingers.

"Not far, if I still live there." He really hoped he still lived there. "Wouldn't be good to be struck by lightning." He stepped back wondering if it was worth it to run or just walk. Already wet after all.
