Who: Erik and Joanne
What: She's dying
When: Sometime this week, I'll leave it kinda vague
Where: Their home
Warnings: Uh... death? :D

It had been a long couple of days since Joanne had been infected when she had touched the ghost. The tattoo was spreading up over her body at a slow rate, but she'd had it for days now, and she knew that her time was getting close. It was a wonder that she was even conscious, but she had been going in and out since she'd gotten the tattoo.

Sometimes she'd be awake for hours, sometimes only for a moment. She laid on the bed, her breathing labored and she was sweating and pale and looked horrible. After all things, she didn't want it to be like this. But she was never as strong as she thought she was. Her eyes opened and she looked around for Erik, knowing he was close by somewhere. She needed to see him.

Before it was too late.

It was nice because he was warm, and now he had his arms around her, it made her feel a little better. Barely she moved her arms up as best as she could, putting her hands against his chest, and when he pressed his face against her, her own face was pressed against his neck. "I love you too.." she hated that she was only saying it now, and hadn't done so before. She'd been so stubborn and such an idiot. She was still shaking a little, but her breathing was really starting to slow down, and so was her heart. Her eyes shut, but she still seemed there.

He couldn't understand why she couldn't heal herself with her so-called mysticism or doing something. But he was lucky she'd held on this long. There were others who were probably already dead. He just wanted her to stay. That's all he wanted. Erik was not the kind of man who asked for much having lived with so little for so long. Her small gestures of affection were breaking his heart as he held her; so still in his arms. Why had he waited so long to tell her?

Her eyes didn't open anymore, but she pressed her lips up against his ear, "When I go.. leave the house. Don't stay. Not safe. Please." yeah she was asking him nicely on her death bed. She knew somehow what was coming and what would go on afterwards. She didn't want him to get hurt. "I'll be waiting.." and then she whispered that she loved him again. That's when her heart stopped beating and she went completely limp in his arms.

Waiting? What did she mean? And he felt her fall limp in his embrace, making him cling to her tighter. He'd buried his face in her neck and just held her for a moment, getting it all out as best he could because he knew he would have to run soon. He'd have to do as she had said and leave her behind. Wiping away the few errant tears, Erik set her body back down on the bed and crawled off of it. Before he left her, he situated her peacefully in the center and drew a blanket up over her body, kissed her cheek and got out of there as quickly as possible.
