Who: Sweeney Todd & Sadako Yamamura
When: Late Night Tuesday/Wednesday
Where: London
What: Learning the city (all over again...)
Warnings: With the exception of them talking about their pasts? Nada. It's weird.

Sweeney was in rare form, he'd actually gotten some sleep AND food somewhere between work and when he decided to tinker around on the computer. So he had a bit more color to him than he'd had in the past few days. And not only that, but he was almost just a bit more emotionally charged. He'd written the first part of his journal that chronicled what he felt was left out of the history books, and therefore, he was a bit less burdened with the past.
A walk sounded like a splendid idea, all 'round.

He showed up at the doorstep of the young lady after about twenty minutes, having had to find directions from the nearest portkey, and after he knocked, he straightened his jacket and waited patiently as he could, looking around him, getting a feel for the neighborhood as it was now. Seemed to have changed only marginally since he last saw it - new buildings, old streets.

He smiled at her half-thought plan. "Please do. The world needs lovely actresses." And with that, and the whistle of the kettle, he stood and poured the water into the teapot.

He simply nodded to her question, and then got a pang of worry. He hadn't thought about what would happen should Lucy arrive. His lips pursed as he sat back down. "I do. I miss her. Less and less each day, but..." He looked to Sadako, his smile fading, "I don't know what I'd do if she returned to me. I'm not the man she loved."

"Perhaps I will. I was in a movie once. Have you been to the movies?" She sat up a bit, excited to be able to introduce technology to him that he might actually enjoy.

Noticing the shift in his body language, she swallowed. "I don't know what you'd do either. Though I do know that what's happened to us is... the displacement of ourselves is spectacular, but the human body." She chuckled to herself. "There's one thing I know, and that is the human body. And it is forever in flux. Even right now, you've lost cells, decayed to the point where you're not the man you once were. Every second you're dying, changing, and such is life." It was advice as best as she could give it, and she chuckled. "Though because I'm... fond of you, you won't need to worry about death, unless you choose to."

"Never have, no. Watched one on the television set, though. Found it rather boring. The movie was captivating, but the lonesomeness of it..." He trailed off, and then looked to her, head tilted just slightly, making him seem more birdlike than anything.

"I've already died once, Miss Yamamura. And once is enough for anybody. I'm sure you can agree to that." He was amazed at her confession then, "You're fond of me?" That got a quirky expression, something which ended up more perplexed than anything.
"Even after knowing... well, considering what you've done. Well, it's safe to say the feeling's mutual, pet, but let's not be hasty with our emotions. One night, it could just be good fortune." He stood once more, taking cups out of the cupboard and setting them beside the teapot, before reaching into the fridge and grabbing the cream. "How do you like your tea, Miss?"

"It's not the theater, no, but more people watch them now. Sadly, the theater is a dying art." She shook her head, obviously not pleased with movies taking over theater. In an ideal world, they would have co-existed, but she knew that wasn't possible. "There are a few that are quite lovely. I'll have to pick a few out for you."

She laughed. "Well. IF you should ever find yourself ill, or wounded, please think of me as loudly as you can. And don't worry about dying again. Even if I should die, I'll return. I promise." She neatly ignored his commenting on her fondness, watching him get up to fix their tea. "Plain for me, thank you. I'm used to green tea. Black teas aren't nearly so bitter."

He nodded to her, and put the cream away, preferring his without frills, as well. He handed the cup of tea to her and sat back down, putting his ankle up on his knee and taking a sip. He spent a moment in silence, just enjoying the tea and thinking, "I'd very much like to go to a movie. So long as it isn't written by Sondheim." He had issue with that man, and for good reason.

Man knew too much.

He decided to try something, something he'd done to test out the street-booth crystal-ball touting fortunetellers. He thought, Can you hear my thoughts? and didn't look to her to cue her in. His tea was his focus, for the most part. It was rich, steeped perfectly, and very soothing.

"There's many out now that aren't by him. To my knowledge, he's not as popular recently, though I could be wrong." She took a sip of her tea, blowing gently on the surface to cool it.

As she swallowed, she heard him, smiling behind her mug. Only because you're thinking so loudly, Mister Todd. Your tea is quite nice. Better than the cup I had in a restaurant yesterday. She chuckled and looked around for something sharp. "Would you like to see something?"

He smiled in return to her response, This could come in useful.

Then he looked up to her with a raise of his brows, "Depends." There was always slight suspicion with that question. He'd had Mrs. Lovett say that a few times and wound up gagging or rolling his eyes or wanting to stab her in the throat for what came after. That question wasn't exactly the most fun thing for him to respond to.
"Does it involve rats?" He followed up.

It has in the past, yes. She couldn't help chuckling a little. Privacy remains far moreso this way.

Sadako wrinkled her nose at his question. "Rats? Why would it?" She stood up and went to the kitchen to find a knife. It wasn't too difficult to spot one, and she returned to the table. She held it up to show him it was genuinely sharp before pricking a finger with it. She made sure to get a steady flow of blood going before holding it out on the table. Watch. She had to focus to heal herself slowly enough where he could see it. Sometimes she wondered how she did what she did, but she supposed it was like walking. She just knew what the DNA codes were for her skin, just knew what they were for blood vessels, and she just knotted them together quickly.

He replied to her question with "Long story, that." And left it at that, watching with great interest.

His brow quirked and he turned to look up at her again, "Impressive. And you say you can do this with others as well. I don't doubt it. You know, I'm feeling a bit outmatched by you. By quite a few people, in fact. Miss LeBeau's got something very unique about her, as well. Said something about how people's evolution got to a point where it just sprung ahead and gave them abilities and things that they'd never had before. She can walk from one place to another by going into a different... world... and coming back out miles away in just a few short steps. You can mend yourself and others, kill them with just a thought, and much, much more. You're both quite interesting, and in my day," He got a cold, sharp smile, "You'd be outcast as witches or worse." He sipped his tea.

"That doesn't mean, of course, that I would have any issue with it, but then again, I do prefer the more strange things in life."

"You'll have to tell me sometime." Sadako's nose remained firmly wrinkled. She didn't like rats, but she figured the story might be funny if Mister Todd thought it worth mentioning.

She waited until her finger was healed before flexing it, smiling at her own handiwork. "Normally I go much faster, but I wanted you to see. And I can heal illness as well, so there's no need for you to suffer through the flu or anything." She drank some more of her tea, cocking her head to the side as well. "If I'd been alive in your time, Mister Todd, I don't think we'd be having this conversation. Well. Perhaps you and I both, but I don't think we would have discussed movies, as there'd be nobody left to show them."

Sadako continued to drink her tea after a while, then she smiled to herself. I don't want to ask out loud - I don't dare - but perhaps you'd like to attend a film with me sometime?

For all the stories he'd be able to tell, the one that didn't cross his mind was as to why his aversion to rats was so immense when the subject of seeing something interesting came up. He nodded, however, keeping it in mind.

He also made a mental note of honestly giving the mental shouting a try when he came down with something.

But when he was quietly sipping his tea and the thought popped up, he paused mid-sip and chuckled. "I'd be honored, Miss Yamamura." And with that, he proceeded to finish his tea. After the cup was emptied, he set it in the sink, a mere reach from where he sat. "And had I been a gentleman, I would've asked you first."

Sadako was aware that her ability to heal people so quickly took a bit of romance out of the entire "doting on a sick man" cliche, but she was all right with that. She'd rather dote on a healthy one. Sick people tended to not be in the best moods.

His chuckle was even cuter than his smile, and she her cheeks remained pink for the remaining time it took her to drink her tea. "I'm glad. And I apologize for my impetuousness. I wanted to ask you while your opinion of me was still favorable." She stood up went to the sink, cleaning out her own cup out of habit. She went ahead and cleaned out his as well, to be a good guest. "Thank you for the tea. I'd wondered why nobody drinks green tea here - black is so foul - but this cup was actually pleasing."

He shook his head, "Don't apologize, doesn't suit a lady like yourself. Please." He stood then and dried the cups with a nearby dishrag and set them back in the cupboard. He stood next to her for a moment and paused, both in thought and action before turning to her, "Not entirely sure I've had green tea." He admitted, before ushering her out of the kitchen and back into the parlor, where he took a seat on the couch, which was soft and plush, even though he sat down, his back straight as a ruler.

"If you'd like me to walk you home soon, I'd be more than happy to." He said then, having glanced at the clock in passing. He didn't realize how long they'd been sitting together.

Sadako put her hands on her hips in mock indignation. "Mister Todd, if you persist in making me blush, I fear my cheeks might melt." She couldn't continue the charade for very long, and just ended up giggling. When he dried the cups, it almost felt homey, and she wondered if she'd ever done anything like that before.

"You should have green tea. It's good for you." She followed him to the couch, sitting a bit away from him to be polite. She'd seduced men in the past, and knew she was capable, but she didn''t want to this time. "I'd love for you to walk me home. Whenever you wish. I don't have to leave just now."

He smiled again, shaking his head. Oh, she was just too much.

While on the couch, he turned to her, "Whenever you feel you'd like to go, just say so, Miss Yamamura." He thought about things a moment, then spoke, "I found that in this world, there's quite a bit of history regarding myself and what I'd done. Quite a bit of contention in the facts, the details. There's been books and stories and even a play! I'm very surprised by it all. But the one thing I do enjoy is the music that was written. Frankly, I can hardly get it out of my mind! Every day while I'm working, I catch myself humming it, or whistling. It's very good, well written. Tailored for me, it seems." He blinked as he paused, brow furrowing, "I'm not quite sure I like how well it suits me. In fact, the man who wrote it knows far too much about me, about who I am. What I think."

He then looked back to her. "Have you seen anything about yourself here, Miss Yamamura?"

Sadako immediately wanted to see the play, and to hear the music that Mister Todd couldn't get out of his mind. She wanted to know how he thought and who he was, but she also didn't want to go prying about in his mind. It seemed rude and intrusive, and she had been speaking trusth when she said she was fond of him. She didn't want to discover anything he didn't want her to discover. But songs - she didn't see how those could be bad.

She snorted softly when he asked about anything about herself. "Unfortunately for me, the most common version of my story is an extremely diluted one. For one, they show me as a child. For two, they give me no motivation for my hardships. I was reduced to a bratty child who had issues with her father. If one is to end the world, I should hope one would have a greater reason than that." She folded her arms. "It's one of those movies I was talking about. I don't recommend it." She'd decided to stop killing, but if she found the people who'd written those movies, she would stop their hearts in a second.

Sweeney looked at her and with the most perfect deadpan, he asked, "Would you like to come to New York with me?" And that said, he stood again to go mess with the stereo again, getting it to play CDs, and pressed play. The one inside the player was the only one he owned. It was the one Petit had given him.

The Ballad of Sweeney Todd started to play. "The reason I ask is that I've got a need to meet this Sondheim fellow face-to-face. I must thank him for his contribution, and applaud his musical genius."

And then kill him for his knowledge of a situation that was long before his time, and not his place to know.

Sadako's eyes widened, and her lips curled into a smile of pure pleasure. "Mister Todd, if you're saying what I think you're saying... I would love to go to New York with you." She stretched out her legs, curling her toes inside of her shoes. The idea of killing people who had so altered her story pleased her. Making her a child had been a clever way to cover up her otherness, to gloss over the real reason she'd wanted to eradicate mankind.

The music made her close her eyes, standing up and taking his hand again. She wrapped an arm around his waist, swaying more slowly in time with the music. "If this is what is in your soul, I must admit, I'm humbled."

He put his hand on her shoulder and his other lightly draped around her waist, pulling her just that much closer. "That it is, Miss Yamamura."

He closed his eyes and his lips moved with the lyrics, but he dared not to sing, not out loud. Not yet. He smiled slightly as he thought over his plan to go to New York, "I was considering asking my acquaintance to accompany me, but she's busy, always working. And besides, she's finding my ladies for me, asking more of her would be too much."

He looked to her with a cool, confident expression, "Having your company, on the other hand, is a plan I can live with. And besides, finding those who've wronged you shouldn't be entirely too hard. Lovely world, this one. Where you can find anyone just by typing their names into a computer."

And then he whispered the words to the song which was playing into her ear, along with the soundtrack, still swaying.
"for the cruelty of men is as wonderous as Peru."

She tried not to show how pleased she was that he'd pulled her closer, moving in time with him. "I would love to find them." She smirked a bit, thinking of the tumor she'd make in their aortas, the slow pressure it would build and build - and the pleasure that would come from informing them of their fate. Of knowing their fear.

His voice was lovely, even in whispers, and she closed her eyes, moving a tiny bit closer to him. She smiled to herself, humming lightly along with the music.
