Lily Evans (Harry Potter) ([info]dislikestoerags) wrote in [info]utr_logs,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:james potter, lily evans

Who: James Potter and Lily Evans
What: Coming to pick her up
When: Today
Where: Bristol, then his flat
Warnings: Doubtful? We'll see ;) PG-13 probably

It was cold, and Lily was mostly annoyed though amused despite herself. She figured she'd better get out any kind of smiles and giggles before James showed up. Because she couldn't possibly let him know that he was amusing. He drove her around the bend, but he had some good moments. She just wasn't going to tell him that. This whole place was very odd, and she still didn't know if she got what was going on.

She waited at the train station with her hands in her pockets, wondering what it was going to be like having to put up with him 24 hours a day.

Her eyes widened slightly, eyebrows lifting up. "Singing and nudity. Right." well people did say weird stuff happened, but that was pushing it a little too far. "I guess I imagined at the right time to avoid all of that. Are you sure it wasn't you lot just running around and making people naked? Because I could see that."

But then they would have gone to her and done it first. Even if she didn't really remember. Maybe they had, she didn't know. Oh god, had he seen her naked? She blushed for no reason and let out a frustrated sigh. "So you're older than me.." she wondered about his weekend, but figured it wasn't her place to ask.

She followed, glad she didn't have baggage or anything to carry. "We can go for a walk if you want, though I don't know where I'm going. Maybe it would be easier to walk someplace you know so at least then we won't get lost."

"Well," James said with a grin, "That could have been a fun prank, but we weren't responsible. You don't believe me, do you? Check one of the papers when you have a free minute, love." He seemed confident to the point of being cocky, which was a bad habit of his. He slipped into it around women, especially those he wanted to impress. There wasn't a woman he wanted to impress more than Lily Evans.

"Not by much," James said. She was a sixth year. Which meant she missed their becoming a couple, their first time having sex (which was just as well as it'd been terribly), James losing his parents, and graduation. Weird, but James was used to being older than his friends by a little bit.

"How about Hyde Park? The flat's not too far from there. If you get cold we can duck inside."

She couldn't help but roll her eyes at him, "I'm sure you're just dying to prove me wrong, but I'm not sure I want to see that the paper talks about how people are running around naked. And I definitely don't want to see the pictures." He was such a pain in her ass. And she didn't want to say she'd just believe him, there was no way she'd say it or do it, so she didn't say anything at all.

"Yeah all right, Hyde Park's fine.." she pulled out her wand (where had she been keeping it? who knew) and waited for him to go first. She didn't think he'd ditch her, but it was just in case. Really.

"I am," James admitted, "A little." He smirked pleasantly. "Most of the pictures are blurred up. Muggles are very uptight about that sort of thing, it seems." This, coming from James who felt little wrong with walking around the flat naked whenever the mood so struck him.

"Ladies first?" He looked at her, waiting for her to disappear. He didn't want to be too rude to her her first day here.

If he walked around naked in front of her, there were going to be issues. "Fine.. naked and singing. Whatever you say, Potter." she didn't want to argue about something small. She'd wait until they had a big argument. Lily was sure that there was coming any time now.

With a small sigh, she apparated to Hyde Park without saying anything to him. And amazingly she got there in one piece. She wasn't sure the last time she'd been to Hyde Park really.

"Don't be so sour, Evans." James couldn't help but be amused. He'd missed her like this. This is how he liked her best, when she was just spoiling for a fight with him. In order to annoy her slightly, he winked at her as she disappeared from his sight.

Within a moment, he was beside her in Hyde Park. It was cold, but the sun was poking out from between clouds. It was a nice day. James put his hands in his pockets and for a minute, the smile went away. He looked up at the sky thoughtfully. He wasn't sure how to talk to Lily about the important things, but she did have a right to know.

As soon as he appeared beside her, she frowned, "I'm not sour, you just shouldn't think your god's gift.." she had a bad urge to smack him upside his head, but she didn't. She just put her wand away, and looked around. Hyde Park looked different then she remembered, but then everything did.

"Which way do you want to walk?" she asked, pulling her jacket a little closer to her.

"You are sour," James said. "And I am God's gift." He was grinning, but it wasn't quite as bright as it had been. After a second, he said, "This way." And he began to walk slowly.

"There are some things I should probably warn you about," he said quickly.

"I wouldn't be sour if you grew up," she retorted though she began to walk with him down the path, putting her hands in her pockets again to keep warm. When he said he needed to warn her, she looked a little wary, but figured she could humor him. So far, he hadn't lied to her. She hoped he wouldn't start now.

"Oh? Warn me about what?"

"I wouldn't be half as funny if I grew up." He wanted to reach out and take her hand, but refrained. James was pretty sure she'd crack him one upside the skull if he made a move on her.

"Just..." James inhaled, "About this place. There are people who know about um..." Shit. "About our future and things like that." He sounded like an idiot. He raised his hand and brought it through his hair, messing it up. Another bad habit of his.

Lily's eyebrows furrowed up a bit, "People know about our future?" that didn't really make any sense, though it did in a way. Because they were in the future. "You mean our future if we didn't get stuck here in this.. place." she looked around again.

He was nervous, and that usually meant that he was going to tell her something bad. She didn't stop walking, she just turned to look at him more, "What about our future?"

"Yeah." He swallowed. "There are people here from our future. The one back home. Not here." He looked down at the dried grass. Anywhere but Lily's face was good. "Like... well... there are two different Remuses and Siriuses here. One set is our age, another is a lot older." He smiled then. "You'll probably like the older Sirius a lot, he's not so much of a twat."

"Uh... everything, pretty much." He dared a glance up at her face.

She wasn't stupid, she noted that there were two Remuses and to Siriuses and not a word about the two of them. And there was the whole thing where she hadn't heard anything from either of them yet. But really it sounded far fetched, but she guessed she could buy it. "Older versions? That's.. something.." she'd just have to see it to believe it, she supposed.

She blinked a little, "Just tell me, James. Whatever it is.." it wasn't good, that much she got by the look on his face, even if he wasn't looking at her most of the time.

"Yeah. It's mad." It was. This entire place was. He'd grown used to it, but he'd had his mates to get accustomed to all of it with him. Lily was new on her own. James figured that had to be worse.

"You want the bad parts first or the good? There are both."

Reaching up, she pushed her hair back over her ear. To be honest she wasn't sure. "I guess.. the... bad news.." wasn't that the way it was supposed to work? The good news overshadowed the bad news. At least she hoped so. "Or just all at once, it doesn't matter.." might as well try and deal with it all completely.

"You remember all that purist rubbish, yeah? That group that called themselves the Death Eaters?" James wasn't sure if they had used that name back in sixth year, but they'd been around. "They get powerful as we get older. And. We fight them. All of us. You and me and the mates. We died together, Lily, you and me." He hated having to do this. "I'm sorry."

She wasn't sure what she'd been expecting really. Maybe some kind of freak accident, or who knew what. But that? Death Eaters. She didn't know what to say, so she was quiet for a couple of minutes as they walked. He was probably watching her, waiting for her to make some kind of statement or tell him he was crazy but she didn't. At least not until she wrapped her head around it.

"We fought.. Death Eaters and.. died.. but.. I don't.. I mean sure they thought muggles and.. muggle borns should be.. but.. it got that bad?" maybe she just didn't want to accept that no one had stepped up and stopped it before it got that bad. "That's why they're older and we're... not.. how old were we.. when we.."

James bit his lip and waited. His eyes were on Lily. "Yeah, love, it got bad." He frowned lightly. James remembered when Sirius had told him that he'd died, how awful it'd been. He'd spent a day getting pissed just to deal with it. "We were young. A few years older than we are now."

There was another lapse of silence, but it wasn't as long as the last one. She really didn't know what to say. Someone had murdered her. That put a damper on things to put it very mildly. She rubbed the back of her neck and wished she could sit down. Instead she paced slightly.

".. Who was it? That killed us." somewhere in her brain, she was going to comprehend that he'd said they died together, and ask what that meant, but first things were first.

James figured it best not to hide anything. Get it all out so that she wouldn't be mad later if something else came out. "Their leader, Voldemort. He came to our house. We were in hiding but... um..." He looked down, "We got betrayed." He didn't want to rat Peter out. James was still (possibly foolishly) loyal to all of his friends. Including Peter.

Their house. There that was again. Their leader came to kill them? Well then that must have been .. important somehow. They were betrayed. For some reason she didn't want to know. "Oh.." well what else were you supposed to say to that really. Right. Time to deal with the part.

"... Our.. house and .. we were together. Is this part of the so called good news?"

"So called." He gave her a watery sort of smile. "Yeah. We... kinda... have a kid. And grandkids. They're here. They're... our age. We got married." God, all of this must have sounded insane to her. "I'm sorry I'm telling you all of this at once."

Well okay, she could have gotten the whole married thing with the way he was talking. Which was bad enough, because them? Married? Ha. That was a joke in itself. But everything else. "We have a kid.. and grandkids.. and they're.. our age.." yeah she was looking at him like he was insane.

But somehow.. "You're really not joking are you?" she ran a hand over her face and turned away from him. "They're.. here?"

James slowed down, figuring she just needed a minute to take it all in. But she was strong. She'd be okay. She was Lily Evans, who could kick his arse in the blink of an eye. She could handle this. He hoped. "I wish I was sometimes," James said with a sigh. "They're good kids, I have to say. Some of them have a flair for drama, but I think they might get that from my side of the family."

James watched her back. "It gets easier. At first it's overwhelming and scary, but then you get used to it and it's not so bad."

Lily gave a small snort, "Of course they get that from you." because she wasn't dramatic. Maybe underdramatic, whatever the word for that was. "If this whole thing wasn't so.. I don't know, then I'd accuse you of saying we already have kids just so you can get into my pants." she was used to that though.

At least she'd stopped pacing. She really wanted to sit down. "Can we go.. home? I think I need to sit.."
