Roxanne had spent the majority of her short time on the island running over the conversation she had with her father. Even after being on the island for two days, she still felt unsettled and uncomfortable, not to mention unwilling to accept what her father had told her. Though in retrospect she realized she could have tried to be a little more understanding of her father's position – Roxanne found herself wondering what the father she knew and loved, back at home, would say – it still struck her as a situation that could be fixed. Surely, her parents just needed some time to get back on track. At least, that's what Roxanne hoped, though she did find the fact that the first infidelity took place before she was even born, before they made it to the island, to be upsetting. That meant that her father had cheated on her mother without the help of the insanity of the island.
Just a couple of days ago, Roxanne had been fretting over her career path, wondering if she was making the right choices and debating over quitting her training. Now, it felt like that didn't even matter anymore. Instead, she found herself more concerned with her parents and their choices than her own.
By the second day, Roxanne found that she was missing someone terribly – her mother. It occurred to her that she couldn't put off meeting her any longer. Even if her mother was younger and different here than she was back in what Roxanne had taken to calling the "real" world, she was still her mother. And Roxanne really wanted to hear her side of the story. Which is why, after two days of very limited interaction with the world on the island, Roxanne decided it was time to take action, confront those she loved, and learn to cope. It didn't seem like she was going anywhere else anytime soon, after all.
She headed out and took the short walk from her bungalow to the one where her father had said her mother was staying. Once there, she knocked on the door, and hoped that her mother was not only home, but that she also happened to be alone. Roxanne wasn't sure who her roommates were, but if they were anything like that one incredibly rude roommate she had, Roxanne figured they'd go elsewhere to reunite.
