W H O: Asteria Greengrass & Roger Davies
W H E N: Monday, June 16th, 2002
W H E R E: Rousillon, London, England.
W H A T: 2nd date Meeting
R A T I N G: E for Everyone.
S T A T U S: Closed / Complete

If anything Asteria was more nervous for this second meeting then she was for the first. In a weird sense, she was more nervous because at Rousillon, she was in her element. She loved this restaurant more then any other in the city...which, in all honesty, didn't make sense. Being in ones element was supposed to give you confidence, not make you worry more. She blamed her nerves on a certain Mr. Harper. She still couldn't believe he'd gotten her up on the bar. What a nightmare? She was still a bit shaky from that experience, invisible eyes had been following her all day and she just wanted them to bloody well disappear already.

After arriving at the restaurant she checked in for their reservation and waited patiently for Roger to arrive. Insane thoughts of whether he'd like the place passed through her mind as she toyed with a strand of her hair, a characteristic that came out when she was nervous. He hadn't sounded like he was disappointed in her choice when she had talked to him over the journals, but she supposed that seeing and hearing were too very different things.

When the waiter once again came up to ask her if she would like something to drink, she almost winced. Her head was still pounding from the night before, but despite this she did order a nice bottle of merlot. She did love the drink and perhaps Roger would like some over dinner. She wasn't about to deny him simply because she didn't know how to say no to her best friend.

"I'm sure my mother will be thrilled." she responded, with a bit of sarcasm in her voice. The woman was a bloody menace to society. How her lovely father handled her was beyond her. "She's one of those people that seems to think she controls the world. Which I suppose is the reason my Flat is strictly big enough for one. Prevents her from dropping in for long visits."

It didn't take too much longer for her to finish off her salad...or at least what she wanted of it. "I suppose now we just need a date. I'm not sure when Daphne's will be, but I don't think she'd appreciate me holding mine on the same day."

Roger nodded in understanding, it would certainly be a problem if he and Asteria tried to get married on the same day. Despite the fact that Asteria and Daphne seemed a little strained at the moment, he was sure they'd sort it out eventually. They were family, and they'd forgive each other.... Or at least he thought they would. Arguing over him seemed rather foolish... It always was. Not that he'd been in that many situations where women were fighting over him.

"We can choose our day after Daphne does?" Roger asked with a half-smile, leaning back as the waiters came in to remove their plates. He noticed that Asteria didn't even eat half of her salad, but wasn't all that surprised. A pretty woman like her probably didn't eat that much. Most of them didn't.

It wasn't that she didn't eat much, or that she didn't like it, it was simply that her appetite wasn't exactly what it normally was, given all the stress that had been piling up over the last week or so. Eventually, it would even itself out but for right now she was a bit distracted.

"Knowing Daphne she'll wait till the last moment, so I'm betting ours will be sunday...not that it's a relatively good distance in the future." she responded, pausing a moment when the waiter returned with their main courses. "Did you have any input on colours or anything for the wedding? I didn't think you would, but I didn't want to have something planned only to find you hate it."

When asked about colors a look of surprise spread across Roger's face. He had never been expected to voice his input on that side of the wedding. He'd pretty much thought he'd just be told what to wear, where to stand, and what to say. And being asked for his aesthetic input left him slightly speechless.

"Well... you know the only color I don't like, and I don't think orange is a common wedding color..." Roger said slowly, unsure of what else he was supposed to say.

She frowned slightly at his surprise. It had seemed like a good question when it had to occur to her. There was no point in ignoring his input, it was going to be there no matter. "We'll most men don't particularly take to Pink, Purple, and more often then not yellow." she responded, with a small embarrassed shrug. "I just didn't want to end up with an entire arrangement in a colour that was hated."

Alright, so perhaps it was a silly question. The colours really didn't matter all that much, but she supposed it was something to disccuss, a means to continue the conversation...albiet a sad attempt, but she was trying.

"I wouldn't be particularly keen to wearing outfits made entirely from those colors, but I have no problem if the flower arrangements and accents have those," Roger shrugged. It really wasn't a big deal to him, just as long as orange didn't make it into the picture.

"I trust your opinion on these matters. I figure you might have some...opinions formed in your head of what your wedding should look like. Girls like planning out weddings as kids, right?"

All of a sudden Roger slid firmly back into his own awkward phase, something he hadn't experienced in a while. What was it about Asteria that stirred up all these feelings in him, despite the fact that he had only known her for a few days? Granted, there was something about her that reminded him of Fleur, but a much softer, smarter Fleur.

She raised an eyebrow at his comment and couldn't help a small, amused laugh. "Well, I wouldn't say plan." she responded, glancing away from him for a moment. She'd never planned out her wedding, but there had been the thoughts of "when I get married I'm going to do this' or 'I'm not going to do that', which she supposed was enough.

She'd never really looked that far ahead. She'd always thought she'd have lots of time to figure it all out. This just went to show that you knew knew. Things could change in an instant...or on the arrival of a cheap piece of ministry parchment.

"Well, I guess we'll both be fumbling through some decisions together," Roger shrugged, watching as a waiter filled up his glass. He hadn't even noticed it was being close to finished.

"It can't be that hard, right?"

"I'd rather not agree to that." She responded, glancing back up with a small smile. "I'm afraid if I do, everything will turn out horrible, such is the way with karma."

Now that she had discussed some of her worries with him, she did feel as though a portion of the tension and anxiety was removed from her shoulders. By no means was it all gone, but she could breathe a little bit easier.
