Who: Harry and Daphne
When: After Argument
What: Hopefully, not fighting.
Where: The house
Rating: Who Knows
Status: Closed / Complete

Harry hadn't gone far from the house. Roughly half a mile to the north, actually. They're property stretched for quite a bit and it was in all honesty a very nice spot. Once you pasted the main section around the house, the area became forested. It certainly wasn't like the forest surrounding Hogwarts, but it suited him well. It was quite without being surrounded in silence. In other words it was a good place to cool down and collect ones sense...or what little bit of sense one actually had. He'd pushed it too far this time. He knew that. He'd almost lost her ... all because of he couldn't ignore Pucey.

He was just glad she hadn't left. That he had a chance to make this work. He wouldn't need another one. He believed that firmly. He'd walked out there, but he couldn't take the time to walk back. He should have been there a long time ago and he wasn't about to waist anymore time out there alone. Collecting his journal and just barely remembering to grab the pen (carrying a quill and inkwell wasn't exactly practical) he apparated back to the house.

He was a little hesitant to go inside, afraid that she'd left after all. He didn't like the feeling and did the only thing he could to alleviate it. He went inside, immediately looking for a sign to reassure himself that Daphne was in fact still there. He'd never really thought he'd be happy to see a pair of shoes, but seeing Daphne's tucked neatly beside a pair was probably one of his happier moments. She hadn't left. He just needed to find her.

Their fight had Daphne all confused and just like the night before, she was pissed off and tired and really stressed out over nothing, it seemed. Bloody hell, she told Harry she wanted to divorce him and that she was leaving him, all because he wouldn't bloody leave Adrian alone, but more or less, because Adrian wouldn't leave Harry alone either. She hated that, Daphne did. That Harry and Adrian couldn't at least be civil towards each other. They weren't fighting over her, after all. Plus, Harry always won. He was her husband.

After things cooled down between them, Daphne really needed to relax or else she would have been a ball of stress by the time Harry got back from wherever he went. Rather than just going to bed, Daphne took the 'never go to bed angry' rule to heart and slipped into a nice hot bubble bath, her whole body surrounded by peppermint scented bubbles as she closed her yes and leaned her head back, forcing her mind to detoxify itself.

Harry had said he'd be home, but to be honest, she didn't expect him to be. She figured he'd spend the night with Ron or just go back to work. Regardless of a make up, the fight still loomed and there was no turning back. Daphne sighed as she sank into the tub more, now almost completely submerged in water. No, she wasn't trying to drown herself, but she was definitely too deep in thought to care whether or not she did.

Luckily, that would never happen.

Harry kicked off his shoes at the door, left his journal on the table in the hallway and went in search of his (hopefully still current) wife. He checked the kitchen, he checked the living room. He checked the roof. He checked his room. He checked her room. It wasn't until he was in her room that he smelled it. The scent was familiar. It smelled....like Daphne....only stronger.

Following the scent he found Daphne in the bath, bubbles up to her chin. It was a rather cute sight...one he'd normally take a good few moments to appreciate, but unfortunately, he was just to glad to see her there that he didn't bother taking the time. He was sure she'd have a bubble bath again at some point.

She's said he could hold her and that was the only thing he wanted to do right now. He wanted to keep her with him...even if it was temporary. Moving further into the room, he joined her, clothing and all. He didn't care. What was wet clothes to him anyway?

Now that she was relaxed and slightly cooled down, Daphne could look back at their fight without feeling like a puddle of hot garbage juice. She treated Harry so badly and all they did was argue anymore. She didn't deserve him. Harry deserved someone who could love him and respect him and not pick arguments with him. Daphne wasn't that person, and while she was over the whole 'getting an annulment' business, she still wondered if this was the best choice for her.

He made her happy, Harry did. He made her outrageously happy, actually. He was so good to her and he loved her and cherished her, and all she did was argue with him. The thought of that made her sick. Actually, had Daphne not changed the path of her thoughts, she was positive she would have thrown herself out of the tub to get sick.

However, rather than throwing herself out of the tub, something familiar joined her. Now with two bodies in the tub, the water spilled over the edge silently as she opened her eyes and saw her fully clothed husband laying right on top of her. Once hand reached up and brushed the hair away from his face as she gave him a gentle smile.

The moment he had the chance his arms moved around her firmly, all but locking into place. They weren't coming releasing her until they absolutely had to. They'd be all prune like from the water if need be. He didn't care and he hoped Daphne didn't care...both the invasion of her bath and his need to be wrapped around her at the moment. He was a bloody fool. He knew it. She knew it. Now, he just had to make up for it.

He barely waited for her soft smile to form before he kissed her. It was nothing more then a soft press of lips, but he didn't want to overstep his boundaries anymore then he already had. When he pulled back, it was only to give him enough room to speak. "Please don't leave me." he muttered. "I'm stubborn, and selfish, and pig-headed, and utterly ridiculous, I know, but there will never be anyone else who makes me as happy as you. I promise I'll do my best to make you just as happy."

Alright, so he sounded like a three year old trying to get out of a grounding, but despite the childish presentation he meant every word of it.

She should have known he was going to do that, but for some reason, Daphne hadn't expected him to cling to her the way he did. That was fine though. She wanted to be close to him. They almost ... broke up, she though. Almost, though. Almost didn't always count. And plus, it was just a silly argument. They'd be fine and go on with life soon enough.

Her arms found their way around his neck and the second his lips met hers, Daphne didn't fight them away, though welcomed them as she felt the suds rolling off her arms. She didn't want this whole big apology. It was all her fault anyway. She started the entire argument all because of Adrian.

Hearing his words, Daphne shook her head and kissed him again, just wanting him to stop talking all together. He knew he wasn't at fault. Harry had every right to want her to defend him, and she would do just that for now on. She didn't know why she was so stupid sometimes, but Daphne was getting better at it. "I'm never going to leave you," she mumbled, pulling out of the kiss. She meant it. Daphne loved him too much to even consider leaving him again. Truth was, had he seen what that whole conversation had done to her, he would not have been very proud.

Harry sighed, a good portion of the tension slipping from his shoulders. He'd really needed to hear that. He needed to know that she was going to be there. No one else possibly could, but more importantly, he didn't want it to be anyone else. They had their rough spots, but he really did want this to last.

He took a moment to rest his forehead against hers. His eyes closed in order to take a moment to collect his thoughts. When he was able to think clearly, without the sense of dread springing up, he shifted to rest his head on her shoulder. He hadn't been lying when he said he wanted to hold her. On occasion his lips would brush lightly against her skin as they sat in comfortable silence, the water and each other's company a section of their nerves that nothing else could.

"Did you at least enjoy France?" he asked, quietly. Her homecoming hadn't been what either one of them expected, which was mostly his fault.

It was moments like this that made Daphne fall in love with Harry all over again. The way he held her and the way he was so gentle. He knew how to treat her and she certainly appreciated it. As she felt his head rest against hers, Daphne smiled slightly. She felt so much more relieved with him there, even with the invasion of her bath, she was just glad that he was there with her. She wanted to tell him how much she loved him, but there was no point. He already knew that.

Part of Daphne worried that he was going to end up drowning himself in the tub, but she knew he was smart enough, so she didn't worry about it. Her fingers brushed gently against skin as they held each other in comfortable silence.

Hearing him speak, Daphne opened her eyes and thought about the answer to that question. "Yeah," she said quietly, her fingers running themselves through his hair gently. "It was alright."

At least that had gone well for her. Harry could be happy about that. She deserved at least that, particularly when one took into account the last couple days. "I'm glad you're back. I missed you like crazy." he admitted, knowing just how crazy it had been. He didn't even want to think about it repeating it. He figured it would happen again at some point. They both traveled with their jobs on occasion. To think that they wouldn't spend a few nights apart was ridiculous, but for now he could at least take some comfort from ignoring reality.

If he was not careful her fingers and the comfortable environment would put him to sleep. He didn't think it'd be a very good thing to fall asleep and drown while sharing a bath with her. Among other things it would be horribly embarrassing.

Harry wondered if perhaps he should have prepared something for when she came home. Dinner or something. He had honestly not thought of that. It was common knowledge that Harry wasn't a big fan of going out, but that didn't mean Daphne was the same. He'd do anything for her. Even if it meant the general public. Unfortunately, there was little to be done about it at the moment.

"I missed you too," she mumbled, her fingers still doing the same as what they were doing previously. Just touching him made Daphne happy. She missed him so much while she was gone that she hardly left her brothers flat once they got all settled in. She wanted to come home every minute of every day she was gone, but she promised her brother she'd be there for him for the two weeks.

"We should get out of the water before you end up catching a cold or something," she said, a hint of concern in her voice as she shifted slightly below him. This was a comforting bath, yes, but now the bubbles were gone and there was water all over the floor. Maybe if it was planned a little better, this really would have been a romantic home coming.

Daphne, while she liked going out every now and then, just wanted to be with Harry when she got home. She definitely had that, but not in the way she had expected. Sure, they argued and semi made up then he really irked her at the end, but as long as she was with Harry, it didn't matter nearly as much as he thought it did. Just being in his arms meant a lot to her.

When she suggested that they get out of the bath, Harry held onto her tighter for a moment. He didn't want to move....even if what she said made sense. He didn't care if he caught a cold, granted he'd care if he caught a cold and then she caught it. Yeah. He'd care then. Eventually releasing her, Harry kissed her softly before completely pulling away.

He couldn't help wrinkling his nose slightly when he stood up, hating how heavy his clothes were and how they now clung to him. Perhaps he should have taken the time to remove them before he'd joined her. Oh well, there really was nothing that could be done about it now. With the water already on the floor, Harry didn't bother taking care when he stepped out onto the floor, letting the water run off him.

Taking a clean towel from the closet, he waited until Daphne has removed herself from the water before wrapping it around her shoulders. His wand was around somewhere. He'd dry his clothes when he found it.

She returned the kiss before he finally pulled away. The look on his face was precious, though. Daphne knew he didn't want to let go of her, and she didn't want him to, but once they were in bed, he could hold her all he wanted to and she'd certainly let him. She never fancied herself as much of a cuddler, but since she married Harry, that's all she ever wanted to do.

Once she was out of the bath and he wrapped a towel around her, Daphne let it cling to her before properly wrapping it around her body and looking at him. "You're going to freeze if you don't take those off," she said sternly, grabbing a towel from the closet just as he had done and holding it under her arm as she went to work on removing his wet clothing.

Pulling on his shirt she made him lift his arms up so she could pull it over his head, eventually letting it slop onto the wet floor. She looked at him and laughed. It was like she was undressing a little kid who fell in a big puddle, though he was a much sexier little kid. Shaking her head, she went on about her business, now removing his pants quickly before they clung to him too much. "You can do the rest she said," nodding towards the wet pair of pants around his ankles. "I'm getting in bed."

She leaned in, kissing him gently before ruffling his hair with her hands, knowing it'd stay that way since it was wet. She grinned and turned around, walking towards their bedroom. At least they wouldn't be going to bed angry. Shivering, she quickly pulled the covers back and jumped in, not wanting to freeze to death.

Had he known what she was thinking he certainly wouldn't have pouted like he had when she made him take off the wet clothes. It really wasn't that much of a hardship, but now the cool air hit his skin all the more. "I was gonna dry them first," he responded, letting her remove the clothing she wanted off. Despite the cold, he really had nothing to complain about.

Harry probably should have felt a bit sheepish standing there, his jeans around his ankles, dripping wet, and his hair ridiculously mess thanks to Daphne, but the thought never made it through his mind. Harry blamed it on the kiss. It was most certainly the kiss. Accepting the towel from her, he dried as much of his skin as possible before wrapping it around his waist. His wand was around there somewhere. He needed to clean up the mess.

Eventually finding his wand on the counter, he cleared the water, dried his clothes and sent them to the laundry. Grabbing another towel, he headed back into the bedroom, getting some of the water from his hair, it kept dripping cool water down his neck. Once he was done, both towels ended up in the laundry basket and he ended up buried under a pile of blankets with his arms around Daphne once more.

Daphne didn't care if he was going to dry them or not, he just needed to be out of them. The longer he waited to dry them, the colder he'd be and that was unnecessary. She smiled and shrugged. Now that they were both dry, it didn't matter. The mess on the floor would be cleaned eventually, though as Daphne thought that, Harry beat her to it.

Once in bed, she tossed the damp towel on the floor. Obviously when she was cold and a bit tired, Daphne didn't care about cleanliness. The thought had crossed her mind about putting on her bed clothes, but she'd be much warmer this way, she figured. Plus, when she saw Harry drop his towels, probably with the same idea in mind, she grinned.

Once he joined her in bed, Daphne snuggled up close to him to keep warm, her goose bump laden legs entwining with his own. It was August and they were freezing their asses off, though that normally happened in the later hours of the evening and when one climbed out of a hot bath.

"Feel better?" she asked, one arm going around his torso as her fingers brushed against his skin.

It took a moment of being wrapped around each other beneath the blankets for their skin to lose it's chill, but once it had he could feel them both relaxing. He shivered slightly when her fingers brushed a sensitive spot along his side, but settled with his arms back around her securely. "Much better, actually." he responded, with a small smile. Much better was an understatement, but it worked for the moment.

There was a brief moment when he'd warmed where he'd wanted to simply curl up arms wrapped around her, blankets pulled up around them, his face hidden in her neck, and simply go to sleep. It'd probably the best sleep he'd ever had...but he supposed Daphne wouldn't be very impressed with him going to sleep and using her as a pillow without so much as a good night, which was why he was a wake, content to be warm and with her.

"You?"

She could feel him shiver beneath her fingers, though that hardly stopped her. She just wanted to be close to him and touch him and express all of her love to him. His words brought a small smile to her face, eyes closing as she rested into his body. At least he was feeling better, and while she was too, the way he felt was more important to her. After what Daphne had said and done, as long as he felt better, that's all that mattered anymore.

Had he fallen asleep like that, Daphne would not have minded. She herself was contemplating the same idea, but at the same time, she didn't want to ruin this closeness by falling asleep. This felt too good to miss, so she stayed away, her fingers still brushing against his skin gently as she felt her body relax into his arms.

A content, relieved sigh was given as she nodded slightly. "Yes," she murmured quietly, her arm laying on her pillow, her head being pillowed by her arm. She had never felt so comfortable in her life, but then again, being in Harry's arms was what was helping her stay that way.

Harry was relieved that she felt alright. He didn't want her to be upset anymore, particularly over some stupid argument. It wasn't important anymore. What was important was the fact that they were alright, that things would work out. He was enjoying lying beside her. It had been too long since he'd been able to...well, been able to without anything hanging between them. He'd missed having her beside him at night.

After the initial shiver caused by her fingers, Harry remained still, growing accustomed to her touch. In sensitive spots he'd shift slightly, but never away from her. For several minutes he just remained there, her hands brushing lightly over her skin and he watched her. When he couldn't remain there any longer, he pulled her closer to him.

He wanted to say a million things, half of which seemed to be apologies, but he didn't say anything. He simply held her, kissing her when the desire arose. The apologies weren't needed. Half of what he wanted to say she already knew. There were times when it was better not to say anything at all, even Harry knew that. That moment seemed to be one of them.
