OOC |-| Alright, this thread is pretty much open for the threads you'd like to create. Have fun and be creative. All I ask is that you keep all NC-17 posts until after. No shagging under the tables, on the bar, or in a broom closet. Also, I'd like most to stay at least until the small plot twist which will be posted later using this account. It will make things a bit more interesting in the game. Thanks!

The surroundings were absolutely gorgeous as people mingled in the ballroom located in the heart of the Ministry of Magic Headquarters. Jewels sparkled and all in attendence were dressed in their finest. From the CRWM's point of view it was a night of celebration, their attempts at creating a new and better Wizarding Community were well on their way and the future looked bright for all, both Muggleborn and Pureblood alike.

Despite the seriousness of the evening, Minister Kinglsey Shaklebolt was not in attendance. Instead, he had left a representative in his stead, who had taken a moment to address the crowd, speaking of the hope and a positive future. The message had various reactions throughout the crowd. Many were hopeful, but just as many were not impressed and it could be seen. The speech and formalities did not last for very long before the guests were left to themselves to mingle and have a good time. The music was started, the bar was opened, and waiters moved through the crowd carrying both drinks and orderves.

It seemed impossible to flag down the waiter. Each time she turned toward one, he was moving in the other direction. Not that she needed the liquid courage, but it would be something to have in her hands, to toy with and keep her nerves at bay. She was definitely rethinking her dress choice but it was too late for that.

The waiter's tray was empty again and he turned away, leaving her sanding next to a witch. Rose smiled politely, thinking she looked familiar. "Gorgeous dress. I feel a bit like a whitefish rolled in newspaper."

Su was pulled out of her horrible thoughts by the arrival of another young woman, someone she vaguely recognized from somewhere. Perhaps it was the journals, they had actually turned into a rather good way of exposing oneself to new people. Despite the fact that she looked familiar, Su couldn't come up with her name.

"Thank you so much," Su said warmly, a slightly surprised look on her face at the compliment. While she liked the dress quite a bit, she hadn't really been expecting to get compliments on it. Su tended to be the sort of person who floated unnoticed by most people.

"You hardly look like a fish," Su said with a small laugh, "it's a very beautiful dress. You have nothing to worry about."

For a moment, Rose's freckles merged together as she blushed. "Thank you. I suppose it is a nice change from what we wear every day."

"I'm Rose, by the by. I recognize you from Hogwarts. I think a year or two ahead of me." Rose folded her arms across her chest and then linked them behind her back and when that made her chest stick out to far, she wrapped them around her front once again. Boy, I'm uncomfortable. Has anyone asked you to dance yet?"

"Yes, I think I was," Su agreed, "you were...a Hufflepuff?" One of the things that had saved Su in school was her wonderful memory, which was actually came in use with tarot readings as well. There was a lot of skill and natural intuition, but there were some basic things that any good tarot reader had memorized, and Su had known most of them since she was a child, thanks to her mother.

"Me? Dance?" Su asked in surprise, her eyes opening wide as she looked over at the other girl, "no. No one will either." Her depression was threatening to come back, so Su took a dainty sip of her wine and tried to push the feelings aside. What use was it to think of Daniel? The ministry had assigned them together, of course he wasn't going to have feelings for her. She, however, had been unlucky enough to develop feelings for him. Feelings that didn't want to go away, even though she knew he was falling in love with another woman.

"Yes, Hufflepuff." It was impossible to say that and not smile proudly.

Taken aback by the way the other witch answered her question, Rose knit her brows together. "No?" She pursed her lips and considered the dance floor for a moment, losing hope that she'd be asked to dance either. For a second, she entertained thoughts of slipping out the side door.

"That's a shame." Rose tried to smile, hoping a bit of humor would make the moment less tense. "All the girls that have blisters in the morning will be jealous of you." It wasn't very witty or clever but she hoped it was enough to keep the conversation from being more awkward.

Su was amused by Rose's pride about her former house, and she couldn't help but smile slightly, despite the emotions she was currently experiencing.

"Hmm, I suppose so," Su said with a smile that hinted at some of the pain she was feeling. "What about you? Any dances promised to handsome young wizards?"

"No, none yet." She'd not given up hope though. "I doubt either of us will be considered standing in the shadows. I'm going to take a walk to the other side of the ballroom."

Rose grinned cheekily. "At least make a slow pass by the bar." Eying the other witch's wine glass, she nodded. "Need a refill?"

"I'm fine," Su said softly, more than content to stay in the "shadows". She was a quiet person who didn't like extra attention, and she was already feeling self-conscious as it was because of the flashy dress.

"I'm sure you'll get more requests than you can keep track of if you just get out there," Su added with a small and supportive smile.

"Alright then." Rose smiled and gathered the train of her gown in one hand. "It was good speaking to you. I hope you enjoy your evening."

With a final look back, she slipped into the throng, moving through the crowd.
