OOC |-| Alright, this thread is pretty much open for the threads you'd like to create. Have fun and be creative. All I ask is that you keep all NC-17 posts until after. No shagging under the tables, on the bar, or in a broom closet. Also, I'd like most to stay at least until the small plot twist which will be posted later using this account. It will make things a bit more interesting in the game. Thanks!

The surroundings were absolutely gorgeous as people mingled in the ballroom located in the heart of the Ministry of Magic Headquarters. Jewels sparkled and all in attendence were dressed in their finest. From the CRWM's point of view it was a night of celebration, their attempts at creating a new and better Wizarding Community were well on their way and the future looked bright for all, both Muggleborn and Pureblood alike.

Despite the seriousness of the evening, Minister Kinglsey Shaklebolt was not in attendance. Instead, he had left a representative in his stead, who had taken a moment to address the crowd, speaking of the hope and a positive future. The message had various reactions throughout the crowd. Many were hopeful, but just as many were not impressed and it could be seen. The speech and formalities did not last for very long before the guests were left to themselves to mingle and have a good time. The music was started, the bar was opened, and waiters moved through the crowd carrying both drinks and orderves.

"Hm?" He pretended that he hadn't even noticed her, when really she was all he was aware of. He had forgotten of his Irish bride, and of the girl he promised to dance with, and of all the other pretty birds fluttering about. Marcus, who stood much taller than the girl, lowered his gaze to her offered hand and arched his eyebrow.

"We've a date, eh?" His catty grin bloomed and Marcus placed the empty champagne fluke on the empty tray a passing waiter was holding. He grabbed another drink. "I'm soon to be a married man, Rose, I can't be going on dates anymore. Cheers."

He downed the champagne again.

She took a moment to assess him, seeing Marcus up close rather than from the stands or photographed in some rag magazine. He was tall. Much taller than her and she was force to tilt her head back to meet his eyes. Absently she wondered if the charm holding her hair up would stay put and Rose raised her hand to push in the pins just in case.

"Yes, we have a date." She smiled at him and it was a cross between absolute determination and nervous innocence. "To discuss Fleetwood's."

Rose had seen him arrive with his future wife, but her sincere lack of nefarious motives had her thinking his rebuttal was charming. Bringing her own glass to her lips, she stared at him over the rim. "You're not going to stand me up, are you?"

"Of course not, and ruin my chances to be Fleetwood's number one?" He scoffed, rolled his eyes and took another swig of the champagne. "Just don't tell the missus," he shifted his hand outward and gestured toward the opposite side of the room were Saoirse was, with Palmer of all people. It didn't infuriate him that his bride was with his friend, in fact, it seemed like Marcus really could care less.

"You're not matched yet, are you?" He never held casual conversation like this. He was always crude with how he spoke to people, short with his sentences and refused to actually hold an intelligent conversation for fear it would expose how unintelligent he really was.

Rose was relieved and the muscles in her shoulders eased the bit of tension that was building. It wasn't her decision to make but, just like with Roger Davies, she didn't want anyone to count themselves out yet. Following Marcus' direction, her eyes went to where the future Mrs Flint sat. With one glance at her expression, along with the man standing next to her, Rose turned away, feeling like she was intruding on a private moment.

"No, not as yet." The weak smile didn't reach her eyes. "I'm nervous about it to be honest. You seem to be managing your engagement well. Down on one knee and all that rot. I saw the pictures." Her red lips turned up into a true smile, thinking the gesture was completely romantic. "You do know how to use the press."

"Let's hope you don't get matched too quickly. You seem... young." Very young, so he had to wonder why the hell he was so attracted to her! He was going on twenty-seven in December and she couldn't have been a year past twenty.

"It's going as well as it can be. She doesn't like me very much, not like that, but she's trying. If you'll excuse me, I see someone I have to say hello to. Pleasure to have met you.. early." He glanced back down at her, smiled, then walked off to find Millicent. He was acting like a complete fool in front of the redhead and he had to get away before he said something stupid.

She had to agree, she was young. Much too young to be considering marriage or having it thrust upon her. But that was hardly her decision to make anymore and politics were too intricate to comprehend.

A twinge of regret filled her as Marcus described his match. Rose wanted to ask if he cared for his future wife but it was hardly any of her business and before she could have gotten the words out anyway he was making his excuses. What did I say? We've not even made small talk about the weather yet.

How she managed to catch up and move in front of him with his long stride and her high heels, she'd likely never know. Sheer will? "Umm, Marcus?" Now that she was standing before him, she had no idea what she was going to say, only that she wasn't ready for their conversation to end. Rose was going to make an idiot of herself but what did she have to lose? He was a person, just like anyone else. She would just ignore the Quidditch star part. "I wouldn't mind a dance later if you have one free."

He hadn't taken more than five steps away when his world was all Rose again. Rose with her roaring red hair. Rose with her dainty hands and tiny hips. Rose speaking with a mouth that was pink and perfect and Merlin what the hell was wrong with his heart?! He looked utterly displeased for a whole minute, all because a strange fluttery feeling was making his heart feel something strange! He despised the feeling and thought perhaps he was needing a check-up with a healer.

He heard her statement after the pain subsided slightly and Marcus was beside himself with not knowing what to do. Hadn't he sort of hoped he would be able to charm the Fleetwood witch when he truly met her over those journals? Wasn't this his chance? Why the hell did his palms feel sweaty?! Oh, he was going mental.

"I'm free now," he finally managed, his voice almost too low, too husky. A fresh song was being played, and what he hoped would be quick was actually something slow, but he had already said he was free. So, now, he was offering his hand, and looking almost surprised with his own actions. He couldn't stop staring into the blue depths of her eyes.

While she waited, Rose looked up through her lashes, guessing from Marcus' expression, he was going to say no and send her on her way to find punch and biscuits like a good little witch. His answer made her shiver, unaware, but she followed it with a bright smile. "Now is good."

The song was too romantic, too suggestive, for what she'd intended. Rose just wanted to have a few more words. She was drawn to Flint, trying to make a connection between the fierce wizard on the pitch and the gentleman now offering his hand.

Sliding her fingers to link with his, she blinked, breaking their locked eyes, and started moving to the center of the dance floor, hoping they'd get lost in the crowd.

It wasn't like when he danced with Saoirse that first night. Then, he wanted her to shut up and let him prove he had something worth her time. Here he was eager for something to be said because he was actually.. no. No, he couldn't be. He frowned again as they made their way out onto the dance floor. He couldn't be scared to prove himself worth Rose's time, that was a ridiculous thought to have and it was pushed out of his mind by thoughts of what to say.

A hand was placed on the curve of her hip and his long fingers curled about her side gently. The dance was one that a few couples decided to get cozy for, but Marcus kept his distance with good poise. "Do you do this with all the candidates?" he mused.

Rose noticed how the lights dimmed more so around the room as she wrapped one arm around his shoulder as much as she could. She damned her height and wished she'd worn higher heels but that would have been too big of a risk staying on top of them.

The heat from Marcus' hand sifted through her gown and warmed her skin underneath and the brief thought occurred to her that she could blush all the way down to her cleavage.

As a distraction, Rose smiled leaning forward as if imparting the greatest secret. "I do as a matter of fact. Would you believe me if I told you Angelina Johnson wouldn't slow dance with me?" Pursing her lips together, Rose let him guess if she were joking.

She leaned forward to the point where if he really wanted to he could rudely stare down into her gown. He usually would sneak a peak but nothing was usual about this. He was being polite, mostly, and finding it hard to be anything but a perfect gentleman. Like when he noticed how she was having a bit of a hard time reaching his shoulders in a comfortable way he took action.

His wand was always kept in a pocket of some sort. For this suit he had elongated the pocket on his left side for the wand, so it was the hand resting on her hip that reached for the wand. It was kept low, and before he could reply to her jest he whispered the charm to levitate and placed the wand back in his pocket as smoothly as he could. He hoped the charm would keep her hovering just enough to make it easier for her to keep with him.

"I don't know why she wouldn't," he heard himself say. "But that means more for me, I suppose."

Her brows knitted curiously together when Marcus drew his wand. Within seconds, she was floating into the air until they were nearly eye to eye. It was the oddest sensation and she loved it! Her arms loosely banded around his shoulders to the point that, if she dared, her fingers could tangle in the hair brushing his collar.

"Thank you," she whispered, realizing it was much more difficult to look away now. "Yes, plenty more for you. You just got lucky with the song choice." Rose forced herself not to dangle her feet but it was hard, a sensation like treading water, where you felt like you had to keep moving.

The ground wasn't so far away but it would be embarrassing if she didn't land 'butter side up'. "Promise me you'll catch me if the spell breaks?"

To account for the sudden change in height he had to wrap both arms about her tiny waist and hold her firmly against him. He wondered if anyone noticed the floating witch that was captivating the horrible Marcus Flint. Thoughts about her blood purity, or how much she had in Gringrotts didn't even make it through his head. Instead, all he could think about was how easy it would be to stare into her eyes forever. He had never been so entranced before.

A smile, genuine and simple, uncurled across his countenance. "I've got you," he promised. "I won't let you fall." Another promise, and when did he learn to speak softly and kindly?

He didn't even know the name of the witch he was dancing with, but that didn't matter. She'd avoided stepping on his toes and seemed to be keeping her tongue out of his ear and that was more than he could ask for at the moment. That was until he turned and saw Flint, and the tiny bit of a witch he was dancing with.

It was an opportunity he couldn't pass up. It was more than one bloke nettling the other. Palmer was getting revenge for Saiorse. He raised his voice and used a curious tone. "Oi, Flint. You do have a note from her mum to keep her out after dark, yeah?"

He snapped his head in the direction of the cat call and within seconds he was boiling mad. "Oy! Fuck off then, Mate!" He practically snarled the words and as such, lost concentration on the charm. He had loosened his arms out of surprise and it was enough for her to slip away onto the floor.

"Shit! Fuck!" He didn't catch her! He looked, honestly, very much bewildered by the whole event and crouched down beside her quickly. "Fuck me, sorry.." he never apologized, but here he was, doing just that.

Rose was plummeting until she landed flat on the dance floor. Everything had happened so fast but the wizard that had made the remark about her age was walking away and she shook her head. Even cursing him wouldn't make her feel better any faster.

The string of profanities had Rose turning her head to smile as to not encourage Marcus. "No, I'm fine. Just my pride and my bum are bruised. New rules though. You can't have your arms around me unless my feet are firmly on something solid." The other dancers had barely noticed them since they'd started snogging half way through the song and at least she could be grateful for that.

Rose brought her hand up until her fingertips stroked softly against Marcus' cheek. "I'm alright. Help me up?" She slowly slipped her hand back into his.

Goosebumps shot up his arms as shivers went sailing up and down his spine. That was what the very faintest touch of her fingertips did to him and fuck, did it drive him mad. He was all scowls when he helped her up, if only because he couldn't explain the sudden feelings overwhelming his senses.

Marcus stood there, like earlier, feeling awkward and stupid with nothing to say. The song was over and something fast was making the couples dance around them in circles. They alone were still among the flow of witches and wizards. "I'll see you Monday then." There, all that needed to be said, right? No good-bye or nice dancing with you, no nothing. He turned and made a bee-line for the doors that would bring him to a long corridor that led to other rooms and to the outside, eventually.
