OOC |-| Alright, this thread is pretty much open for the threads you'd like to create. Have fun and be creative. All I ask is that you keep all NC-17 posts until after. No shagging under the tables, on the bar, or in a broom closet. Also, I'd like most to stay at least until the small plot twist which will be posted later using this account. It will make things a bit more interesting in the game. Thanks!

The surroundings were absolutely gorgeous as people mingled in the ballroom located in the heart of the Ministry of Magic Headquarters. Jewels sparkled and all in attendence were dressed in their finest. From the CRWM's point of view it was a night of celebration, their attempts at creating a new and better Wizarding Community were well on their way and the future looked bright for all, both Muggleborn and Pureblood alike.

Despite the seriousness of the evening, Minister Kinglsey Shaklebolt was not in attendance. Instead, he had left a representative in his stead, who had taken a moment to address the crowd, speaking of the hope and a positive future. The message had various reactions throughout the crowd. Many were hopeful, but just as many were not impressed and it could be seen. The speech and formalities did not last for very long before the guests were left to themselves to mingle and have a good time. The music was started, the bar was opened, and waiters moved through the crowd carrying both drinks and orderves.

If there was one thing Daphne never was, it was simple. She didn't show even the least bit of interest in the ball until the last minute when she pulled some fabric from a store in Diagon and had a dress made for her. At least that way, she could say she was being original by having a dress no one else could have. And was it a simple, cute, fun one? Not in a thousand years. Daphne was not simple, cute nor fun, so why should her dress be?

While she was arriving with Harry, Adrian was still partially her date, though as they came into the ballroom and she looked around to find him, he looked more interested in his own wife, or soon to be wife, whatever. Daphne lowered her eyes slightly and looked over at Harry quickly before she let anything sink into her mind. She knew Harry didn't really agree with her being with Adrian for part of the night, but if he was busy and this was mandatory, she'd need someone to dance with. Adrian was her best friend, so he was a suitable partner.

Leaning in, she rested her forehead against Harry's temple and sighed, "I wish you didn't have to work," she mumbled. She would have been much happier with him as her permanent date.

Harry, for his part, had not been looking forward to the evening. It would have been different had he not had to cover the event. He would have much rather remained with Daphne. It didn't help that he was not impressed with Adrian moving in while he was busy...though, he had made a mental note to leave it alone. They were friends after all and he really had no reason to be jealous. Of course, even that didn't help the little green monster from poking his head out.

His thoughts were pulled back to their surrounding when Daphne leaned against him, his arm automatically going around her waist, keeping her close. "So do I, love." he sighed, turning his head to place a kiss on her forehead. "So do I. I'll try to be around as much as possible." he offered, not really knowing how well that would work. Given the opinion of many in attendance it could very well lead to some issues.

On the plus side, Malcolm, Harry's superior had allowed him full access to the scheduled Aurors, which meant he'd called in more then was really necessary, so that he didn't have to be paying particular attention to every little detailed. Already, he could see them taking their places. There was a couple working the crowd, but the others weren't noticeable unless one knew where to look. Hopefully, things would go smoothly.

Daphne sighed again and latched onto him as if she would never see him again. It really quite depressed her that she wouldn't be able to be with her own husband while he worked security. Feeling the kiss on her forehead, she lifted her head slightly from his and gave him a proper kiss. "We should at least dance," she said, almost pleading to have him with her. With Adrian at the bar, she was alone now and that wasn't something she really fancied.

Her eyes wandered again, then went back to Harry. There was no one there that she even cared to be around, and the truth was, she was contemplating bailing completely. It said she had to attend, but it didn't say for how long. She could leave and come back towards the end without Harry even noticing and he'd get his wish to have Daphne not dance with Adrian, and she'd get her wish to leave the bloody place.

"Lets just leave," she begged, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I know the two of us could think of a thousand other things we rather do that sit here. There are other aurors here."

Harry returned the kiss, wanting even more then usual to quit his job. This was utterly ridiculous. Half the people in the room didn't want to be there, why should he have to be the exception. Not to mention that he'd just gotten back after they'd sent him to Scotland for four days. As far as he was concerned he deserved a day off.

"I can't leave," he sighed, wanting to give her what she wanted and yet knowing that he couldn't. There were other Aurors here, yes, but there was a strict order of authority at such events like these and being placed in charge of the security he would end up throwing off the entire system, but was practically a cardinal sin in his department. Taking her hand, he led her out where there was a few couples dancing. He could at least take the time to dance with her.

"I'll make this up to you," he smiled, pulling her back to him as an arm returned to around her.

Daphne's eyes lowered, looking down to the floor as he said he couldn't leave. She knew he couldn't but if he could, life would have been much better. However, this whole mandatory ball put her in a rather foul mood and she knew regardless of whether or not Harry was with Daphne, she'd be pissed off. Perhaps it was for the best that Harry wasn't to be with Daphne for the evening. She could already predict an argument that wouldn't end pretty.

A nod was given to him saying he'd make it up to her. He wouldn't have to, it was just his job and it wasn't as if there wouldn't be other times that they were together anyway. Once his arm went around her, she looked at him and faked a smile, leaning in to kiss him gently. "Promise to make it up to me when we get home?" she teased lightly. She just wanted to see his cheeks go red.

If she wanted to see him blush, then she got exactly what she wanted. Despite the blush, he had to laugh lightly. "Alright, I promise to make it up to you when we get home." he responded, returning the kiss. He was honestly thinking about forgoing the entire ball, but the thought was interrupted when one of the aurors appeared at his side, looking urgent.

Harry frowned. Nothing seemed to be out of order, so he didn't think that he needed to be bothered the moment he walked in the door. There was other Aurors around. Sighing, he stepped away from Daphne. Once there was room, the Auror stepped up and muttered the situation into his ear. Harry had to ask him to repeat what he'd said. He couldn't possibly have heard correct.

"It's the dark mark, sir."

It couldn't possibly be. If this was some sort of joke, Harry didn't find it funny. When the younger Auror pointed toward the balcony, Harry turned to look. Several people had moved to see what the commotion was all about and whisperes and worried tones seemed to move through the crowd. He immediately headed in that direction. It couldn't possibly be the dark mark.
