Who: Orla Quirke and Terry Boot
When: Friday around noon
Where: Quality Quidditch Supplies Place
What: Orla takes pictures of Terry's brooms like he asked her to.
Rating: PG
Status: Closed/In Progress

Allowing herself to indulge in a bit more sleep than she usually got, Orla woke up around midmorning in a good mood. She had plans to enjoy her day off, though would first drop by Terry's work to take the photographs he had commissioned. Then, she planed to lose herself in London for the rest of the day and do nothing but take pictures and look at the sights. It wasn't very often that she went into the city anyway.

Dressing, Orla had a spot of breakfast before heading out and apparating into Diagon Alley. She had only been to the store Terry worked at a handful of times and, unless she had completely forgotten, she had never, ever bought anything from it. Why on Earth would she when she wasn't particularly fond or skilled at flying? Sidestepping a mother and her child, Orla read the signs as she walked on, finally coming to the one she was looking for. With her camera around her neck, she pushed the door open and stepped inside. It was dark inside, but it was because her eyes hadn't adjusted to the different lighting and when they finally did, she realised that the shop had changed since the last time she saw it.

She hadn't meant to scare him and gave him a sheepish look when she did. "About a few minutes ago," she said, looking back at the door. "I didn't mean to walk in on that - on that discussion," she said in way of an apology as she took the ring box from his hand and flipped it open.

"It's pretty," she said honestly, taking it out of its little holder and turning it around between her fingers. "I don't think it needs anything done to it - it has that antique look about it and I'm sure Anastasia will like it." She placed it back in the box and closed it up. "You got lucky with your match though, you know? Most people have been getting stuck with people they can't stand," she said with a light smile and handed him the box back.

"Hopefully," he muttered, pocketing the ring box with a heavy sigh. Terry's downtrodden spirit really wasn't so bad. The more he thought of the idea of getting married the more he felt at ease with it. Not only because he kind of liked the girl, but because it was just another path for him to explore, and he loved to explore new walks of life.. didn't he?

"This way, lovey." He gestured toward a display set up on a front counter. There, with a glass case over it, was his lovely pair of twin brooms. One with a gold and red decal and the other with blue and silver. "All set up and ready to go... lucky? Yeah. I did. Who'd they stick you with?" Suddenly he became very aware that little Orla was probably already married at the rate the ministry was moving! He frowned at the idea.. she was too young!

Orla followed him and looked at the glass casing covering the two brooms inside. She didn't know very much about Quidditch, only the basics which she learned from watching it during school, but it was obvious these were very lovely brooms. High class even and the students at Hogwarts would eventually be standing in line for them.

Pressing a button on her camera that turned the flash off so it wouldn't rebound and cause the photo to become blurry, she took several quick pictures of them within the glass casings. "No one, actually," she said between each snap. "I haven't gotten an owl and thank goodness for that!" She grinned up at him and let her camera drop around her neck again. "Think you could take them out? I'll get a better shot if I can actually use the flash and get a bit closer."

"Yeah.. yeah sure.." he replied, though his slightly nervous speech wasn't to do with talk of marriage. No, it was all because Orla wanted him to take the twins out. He could charm any scratches away, if they got through the charms already keeping them scratch and dent proof, but it would still make him cringe if anything happened to them. Carefully he used his hands to lift the glass and place it behind the counter on the ground.

"Better?" He watched, anxiously, but really he did trust Orla to not suddenly trip and fall into them. "No one? Lucky, you still have time to get out of the country. What are you going to do when they do match you?"

Orla noticed his nervousness and couldn't help but laugh at him. "I'm not going to break them or even touch them, silly, so don't worry!" she promised and took several photographs of them in succession, each from different angles, and some with the flash and some without. All-in-all, she had taken at least a dozen pictures of them. "Did you want a shot with yourself holding them, then?" she asked, waving her camera.

"I hope they don't place me. If they want to actually have a successful marriage, they shouldn't marry me off. I'd be the worst wife ever!" she said, scrunching her nose up. "Honestly, I might have the whole cooking and cleaning thing down, but you know how I am with people I don't know."

She did make a good point. Was there ever a memory of Orla being overly clumsy back in school? Not that he could recall, so his nerves settled a bit. He shook his head in reply to her question though. "Ah, no. I'm just a bit too ugly today." He was the slightest bit camera shy at times when he felt he needed a good shave and hair cut, such as today.

When she finished he placed the glass back over them and began digging a few coins out of his jean pockets. "Now that's not true. If you had to be mine, Orla, I'd be celebrating the day of the news. You're a great companion. Now, how much is it?"

Merely rolling her eyes at the ugly comment, Orla took her camera off from around her neck and placed it on the counter. He could be such a girl sometimes, she mused, smiling to herself.

A blush spread across her cheeks though when he said that he would celebrate if they had received the papers that said they were bound together. It was a lovely compliment. "Thanks," she said, even though she still felt that she would make a horrible wife! "Oh don't," she said, waving her hand at him. "There's not charge; it's on the house."
